Detailed Reviews
The ibis in Wellington is just a short taxi ride from the ferry terminal and the train station is close enough to walk or a taxi is about $7 from the rank right outside the hotel. All major attractions are within easy walking distance.
We were upgraded to a king room which was very nice but rather cramped if you are travelling with suitcases.
Check in was quick and easy.
The bed and linen were all good and despite the location, the hotel is very quiet.
We stayed for 2 nghts with breakfast included. Breakfast was very good with a good range of choices and well set out. Very good staff.
On arrival we mentioned that we needed to leave early on our last morning to catch the train and it was suggested that a breakfast box could be provided and this was arranged with no fuss.
Next day we noticed that there were already a few guests in the dining room when we arrived so talked to the staff and were able to arrange early entry to breakfast on the uderstanding that the cooked breakfast would not be availble. This proved to be an excellent idea nd we were able to enjoy our breakfast, including freshly cooked pastries, in comfort, before heading off to catch the train.

The hotel is located in the heart of the city, which suited us & provides a buffet breakfast & a la carte dinner, although the food was below our expectation.
Staff were very friendly & helpful & we enjoyed our stay here.
Note - Be aware that if you’re coming by car, you need to book a space in the hotel car park in advance, which is chargeable.

Stayed here for one night in room 201 (business king room). Room was very spacious and clean. Bed was comfortable. Bathroom however is small but the water pressure in the shower is high. Room had coffee machine with variety of capsules.
Check in and out process was smooth. Both the duty managers were helpful and provided excellent customer service. Don’t remember the name of a person who checked me in but special thanks to her and Shanky (who checked me out).
Breakfast was good too with hot and cold choices.

We had low expectations for a budget hotel and our stay was basic but very comfortable and we had everything we needed , we had 2 comfortable double beds, air conditioning, a good size room with a fridge and a sitting area. The restaurant served good meals and the location was perfect, a few minutes walk from the harbour., staff were helpful and friendly. Secure city centre car parking is available under the hotel for $30 a day.

On arrival we were greeted by very friendly and helpful reception staff who provided us with a map and clearly marked the location of the hotel plus places we wished to go.
Unfortunately the reception staff on duty next morning were very different, no smiles and no offer to assist with information or directions. Very disappointing after the excellent staff on arrival
Although our room was not overly spacious we had sufficient room and the bed and linen were fine. Pleased to see there was no decorative pile of cushions on the bed which have to be removed and placed somewhere out of the way.
The lighting was very good, especially the bedside lights - great for those who like to read in bed.
An iron and ironing board were in the room and the guest laundry was close by on the same floor.
The maintenance staff are excellent- a minor problem was rectified very quickly by a most pleasant young man
Meals are available in the downstairs restaurant.
Most attractions are within easy walking distance.
Taxis are parked right outside most of the time.

We stay at the Ibis Wellington whenever we come over to visit our son. The location is perfect as you can easily walk to pretty much anything you want to see or do in Wellington. Breakfast at the hotel is very good with a great atmosphere.
But best of all are the people that work there! Every one of the staff we encountered were very pleasant and always made us feel special and welcome.

The Bar downstairs on the street level was very good and has a happy hour Drinks . Breakfast was very well priced as well . All up a great hotel . Parking Can be a problem as we had to pay up to $4.50 per hour till 8pm .

Don't get a room near the lift, during school holidays book somewhere else if you require peace and quiet. I booked 2 rooms for 3 nights, on arrival the receptionist was VERY rude and told me the booking had been cancelled - with no email or phone call to me despite the booking being made 2 weeks in advance and Accor confirming with a confirmation number. This hotel is in a great location, has good parking around it for free overnight, the rooms and bathroom are very small for NZ but all you need, the breakfast is OK , but it would be nice if the Hotel looked after their guests.

I sent an email to Ibis Wellington and there was no reply, extremely disappointed with their service. Email and details as follow:
I was at room 305, Ibis Wellington on the 22nd December for 1 night. I came to visit Wellington for a dear friend's wedding.
My grievance is that there was no hot water when I needed to get ready for the wedding event which was at 11am. At 9 ish am, I waited for at least 2 minutes to get the hot water going, and there was none. I called the reception 3-4 times and nothing. I went down to the reception and the front desk was overwhelmed with other costumers and there was no way I get to them within a reasonable amount of time.
I had to rush off my friend's big day all dirty and greasy haired, all because there was no hot water in an established hotel like yours. I do not want to get sick by taking a cold shower either. I had to check out at 11am as well. I told the front desk staff, and your manager about this, and she said that this only happens to some rooms as there was ongoing construction and that they would change customer's room. Goodness, it would be such an inconvenience to change room when someone NEEDS to take a shower, and pack all their belongings and toiletries especially when there are time constraints.
This should be warned to your customers beforehand. Nothing beats a female who needs to shower to prepare for an event, and this ruined my entire day!

Stayed early December. Very noisy corridors, we could here every word spoken even through our closed door, particularly from people standing by the lift. Some noise reduction would go along way. The air conditioning was noisy and ineffective at cooling.
Bed was good. We requested memory foam pillows which were far better than the standard issue pillows. Check in/out was easy, staff are friendly and helpful. Good location.

Yes there is a good carpark with generous spaces in basement but you must pre-book.
You would definitely book, and yes they have a 24 hour checkin
Yes there is a laundry on the 1st and 9th floor there is a cost not sure how much but wouldn't be very much.
I can’t see why not but best to call the hotel and just check. Cheers
It’s limited parking and you book in advance best to phone the hotel and ask
