Have been few times in this backpacker hostel, every time it showed more tear and wear in room, bathroom and ambience. Not much has been done to keep place up to date, room was not in a much better state, floor showed spots and fridge was warm with few small portion coffee milk, very disappointed this time.

I had stayed here years ago, and it was a neat place with a great atmosphere. Can't believe how much it had changed. I was so disappointed. The place felt more like a homeless shelter than a hotel, totally not as advertised. The stairwells and hallways smelled of pee, and the dining room had people sleeping on chairs at all hours of the day. It had an unfriendly atmosphere about the place. We had people roaming up and down the hallways shouting and trying our door. Also had people on a walkway outside our room in the early morning smoking and drinking. Couldn't have the windows open because of the smoke.

More like a halfway house than a hotel/hostel. The guests were a mix of recovering addicts, the homeless and a few travellers. I had some of my belongings stolen, the management did not help. I alerted them within 30 mins - an hour of the event, a quick look at security footage would have solved the problem but no attempt was made, and no apology. Never returning again.

This is a beautiful building and it's a shame this company 'prime hotels' is doing this all around Wellington. The building is full of bed bugs and black mold all through wall and ceiling cavities, after living on site and speaking with the HK manager he told me they are through the whole property, it is too expensive to remove them. I woke up in a dorm to a homeless man masturbating over me, three times in different dorms. Most days the homeless don't leave the rooms so nothing left is safe (even clothes, towels etc). While I lived there and 2 individuals took their lives on the 6th floor, someone was moved into their room the next day after the body was gone. The only way they can continue to stay open is from the government housing they receive. Please don't stay here, it will physically and mentally ruin your time in Wellington.
