Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Our Prestigious guests (Dr Pulak Sahay & Dr Rajiv Khushu) and elderly People Have visited New Zealand in Feb 2024 - Mar 2024. When they reach Novotel Wellington after a long journey from Rotorua Taking 6-8 hours found out that the hotel doesn't Have Porter Service for their Guests and charging as a 5 Star Hotel is not Acceptable At all. Dr Sahay & Dr Khushu are Elderly People and had to carry their Luggage all they way to their Rooms After Paying a Decent amount of their hard earned Money. Imagining this in the high season time doesn't Depict picture of any 5 star hotel Services anyhow. Please raise your Standards to be on the list of the 5 stars.

If you book a room for multiple nights with free minibar and you don't use it alll each night. You will lose it and the greedy Novotel will win. The front desk wasn't helpful at all, the safe wasn't working, TV wasn't bright and no miniature bathroom. Amenities for us to take home. Rip off!

Stayed for three nights as part of our five week tour of New Zealand. The room on the third floor was comfortable and quiet. Room service came on a daily basis to top up the basics and do the necessary tasks required of housekeeping. The lifts operated well within the hotel but it was slightly inconvenient that the lift down to Lambton Quay closed at 7:30pm. The one disappointing aspect of the hotel was the lobby area and bar which was small and not furnished to a comfortable standard, hence we did not use that area, choosing instead to drink elsewhere.

This hotel is well located and good but it is showing its age. Shower over bath (although a solid grab rail) was not ideal. The safe was out of action (left locked). Excellent bed (although a bit too soft for us). Great bar & dining room with above average food. Reasonable value.

The rooms are OK but need refresh. The hotel restaurant serves nice dinner. There is a lift that will bring you directly to Lambton Quay. 5 min walk to Countdown supermarket. The lift is old but it gets the job done. Very comfortable bed. Overall nice and it was Ok for one night stay.

I have just returned from a lovely night in Wellington staying here . I can not speak highly enough of the experience. Amitt the front desk manager met us on the first day and was fantastic . His front office staff were helpful and went beyond what was expected . Similarly the bar staff and breakfast staff this morning also looked after my mother and I very well . One lovely staff member at the restaurant this morning ( studying design ) made me a coffee to my liking as a special request . We enjoyed speaking to her . Grace in front office too was very friendly and helpful

Good location and good value for the money. Stayed here during the women’s world cup and my room was clean and spacious, even though it was showing wear and tear and its and age at every corner. Location is very central to the pier, right with a direct elevator down to Lambton Quai. But I unfortunately didn’t realize this for the first night and also I did not understand how one gets back up after 7pm (elevtator is only open until then) Would consider staying there again.

This is my go to place to stay when I visit family for a weekend. The rooms are clean and tidy and quiet! It’s great you can’t hear any road noise. The added bonus of having a bath tub is nice seeing as a lot of hotels around this price range don’t offer. Direct access down to Lambton Quay by elevator. A chemist warehouse on level 1 with McDonald’s Countdown etc. bus stop for the AirPort Express bus is also right outside hotel at Lambton Quay side.

No utensils for those who choose not to eat the the resturant, no bowls, had to make my sons breakfast in a mug the only source of utensils provided, our room didnt get cleaned on our stay! Definately not worth the $800 that we paid which was advertised for $580 online to get told the deposit we paid doesn’t go to them so we had to pay another deposit on arrival. Not suitable for toddlers will definitely not be returning the beds we’re definitely not worth the price of our stay :(

Great location and very friendly and helpful staff. Check in was a breeze, and we were allocated a room as requested, in a quiet zone of the hotel. Although on a steep hill, the elevator down the street level was a bonus. After a long day, we used the room service and can highly recommend the Haloumi Burger for something different. But please have a Club Sandwich on the menu in the future. The bed was terrific and we had a great sleep. Breakfast (included in our room tariff) was great. A take away container of fresh fruit offered was a nice bonus. Will I/We stay here again? Yes. Sure will.
