Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

I was there as part of an APT tour. Accommodation was OK. Meal provided was half good and half bad. Wagyu beef cheeks were great. The tiramisu was just wrong. Sponge fingers were dry. They are meant to be moist from soaking in either coffee liquor or espresso, but it was a total fail. Also not happy that you could use cash. Nothing would drawn me back for a return visit.

We try to stay at different locations when we travel to get a good feel of accommodation in our beautiful NZ cites. Movenpick Wellington was our first time staying there and things looked quite good from the outset. Although we had a few bus tours/sports teams staying at the same time we were there, the hotel didn't feel overly full, until, the breakfast buffet. If you intend on eating here knowing there are a few tours staying as well, ask the reception staff when those tours leave so you actually get to eat from the buffet without food running out consistently!! Our room was very nice, but not the 5 star rating advertised. The beds were very comfy the furniture nice to relax on. The bathroom was a bit smaller than other similar priced hotels but it did the job! If you have trouble walking up/down hills then this probably isn't the location to stay at, Although the city centre isn't that far away the hill getting back in is quite steep. All the staff we met were lovely and very well trained and the prices at the bar weren't too bad. If you're a chocolate lover then the daily 4pm (free) chocolate hour will keep you smiling!

Promoted as a 5 star hotel BUT definitely NOT 5 star. Rooms are very small, bathrooms tiny. Restaurant food of poor quality. Non existent services. Asked reception what star rating this hotel was. They said “4 star at the moment”. So why advertise as 5 star?

Stayed here with my hubby and son for four nights while I attended a conference at the waterfront. Chose this place for the family room and the children’s play room. It did not disappoint. It was a great room for my toddler and we even celebrated his first birthday here! Thank you to the very friendly staff who sent up a little birthday treat for my son. Great place and even though up on a hill was easy enough to take the pram for a stroll into the cbd. Would recommend for families!

The hotel was fine and what you would expect from a higher end city hotel, aimed primarily at the travelling business rep market. The rooms were comfortable and the facilities reasonable, just not 5 star in my personal opinion. However, the one thing I ask of any hotel, regardless of rating, is a decent night’s sleep and sadly that evaded me at this hotel. The bedroom walls are thin in terms of noise and the room we were allocated sat immediately above the main hotel entrance so that we were awakened by the sound of loud chatter and car doors from pick ups and drop offs from 5.30am onwards.

Rooms very small , breakfast area very small and crowded, food running out and not replaced quickly , food was ok for dinner, we were travelling with a bus tour, wouldn’t recommend this hotel due to size of rooms. The staff were ok, but they could be much better

The bed is really comfy, the room is quiet the service is very friendly. The facilities are good. The real treat is the chocolate happy hour and the biscuits and tea in the lobby, just takes your stay to another level. Really enjoyed our stay

Arrived early but was ok to check in. Reception friendly, rooms good size, very comfortable beds, spotless bathrooms with good quality toiletries. Towelling robes and slippers provided . Breakfast was buffer style with eggs cooked to order I’d requested. Plenty of choice with cooked food replenished quickly. Free “Chocolate Hour” happens daily. On the day we chose to sample we hade choices of chocolates fruit and marshmallows for dipping. We had originally planned to stay at another hotel in Wellington and had booked early due to “WOW” being in town but on checking the prices a couple of weeks before staying found we could save over $700 by switching the booking to the Movenpick which also has a higher rating. There is an indoor pool available which looked ok but did not have time to use it. Would definitely stay here again.

Do not disturb sign was on the door. Person didn't even knock to see if me and my partner were the room, still came in. 20 minutes or so later we receive an apology on how they were going to clean the room and how they couldn't because of the do not disturb sign. Next time knock or just come back later if the do not disturb sign is on. ESPECIALLY FOR A 5 STAR HOTEL!!!!

Me and my partner were enjoying our stay so much so on the day we were due to go home we booked an extra night. We had the dnd sign on the door but they ignored it and came in anyway. It was quite traumatic for me. They didn’t come back in luckily and slid a note under the door saying they “respected our privacy with the dnd sign on the door” when they actually came in without knocking or making themselves known.
