Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Split review here. Room great - lovely size, great view and all amenities in the room you would need. Breakfast also equally good - lots of variety and nice views. One gripe was the laundry - the dryer was out of order and advised using a self serve laundrette 15 mins away. We had chosen the hotel because of laundry facilities at the halfway point of our NZ tour. I understand that anything can break but it had broken on the previous friday and was not fixed when we left on wednesday. If you advertise the facility at least fix it promptly. I do have to say the issue was resolved by the manager but it was an inconvenience. Overall we had a good stay and the hotel was ideally located for the Victoria point walk and restaurants on the harbour. Coene's over the road was very nice with very fresh and beautifully cooked fish. For the best shops walk over to Lambton Quay.

Great location overlooking the Bay. Very convenient having the conference facilities, restaurant and bar all on site and to top it iff the food and service was also of high standard. Definitely keen to hold future business activities there and would staff privately as well with family and friends.

We were disappointed in our rooms - We paid extra (through a 3rd party) for harbor and ocean views only to find that our rooms were on the 1st floor with trees blocking our view. The rooms themselves were ok - there were no extras, hair dryer, decent coffee, no shampoo, only body wash and conditioner. Bed was comfy and staff were friendly. Excellent location

Such a pitty because the Hotel has plenty to go for a stay. The service i received from the Front Desk is horrible. They just don't do the job and mess things up. Like I said this is such a pity as I have used the hotel twice but just because of this experience i will look for something else...

My son and I arrived late after the ferry from South Island released us after a lengthy wait. The night manager who greeted us at the desk was very pleasant and booked us in quickly. We went straight to our twin room which was lovely and spacious with very comfortable and clean beds. The shower was amazing!! We had a room that overlooked the marina and it was lovely to throw open the curtains and door the following morning and breathe in some fresh air. Breakfast was nice with lots of choices and the staff were very helpful, quickly removing our used dishes. Thank you for a lovely 'quick' stay Christine & Arann

Great location, great bed, friendly staff, clean room of a good size, but a little tired. Shock/horror, especially for Wellington, only plastic coffee, and not even a plunger in the room! The balcony is not functional as a balcony though. Parking is an issue, with few hotel car parks, so we had to use Wellington street parking with a two hour limit during the day - even on weekends.

Reception matched lowest price. Ladies on Reception super..total 'can do' mentality..especially Jessica who seemed to be on duty 24/7🤣. Every request sorted, even organised weighing our bags before checkout! Room v comfy super..large room with little kitchen. Ideal before long haul back to ireland. Breakfast not great but v happy with hotel/staff/location. Just across rd from Oriental beach and access to Freyburg pool.

We were a group. Many rooms faced a construction site ours which theoretically faced the water had no air conditioning and the weather was hot. The door to the outside, the only way to get fresh air, opened to a public space shared by at least 15 rooms. We were informed by the front desk that only the most expensive rooms faced the water and had air conditioning. The carpet was shabby, the service mediocre and the food at our hotel dinner was poor. Not a good choice and a disappointment over all.

Arrived at the hotel an hour after check in. Unfortunately our room wasn’t ready so we were given a drinks voucher - lovely gesture! Unfortunately the car park was full so we had to park on the road luckily it was out of the time to have to pay (side note) we did manage to get parking the next day. The room has a nice view of the bay but I would have liked a slightly better one given what we paid. The room itself was nice, the beds were comfy but it defiantly needed a dust! Given that everything was dark wood it made it very visible. The reason this review is not a 5 star as it could have been was because of the massive patch of black mould of the bathroom ceiling about the shower. I’m pretty sure that is not ok. Otherwise the bathroom was very clean. It is unfortunate that’s the only reason I couldn’t give 5!

Pleasant hotel that was well located on Oriental Bay right around the corner from the national museum. As a family of 5, we were quite comfortable in a 3 bedroom apartment and there was plenty of space for all of us. The kitchenette is functional but I would not have wanted to cook a main meal as it is a bit limited. It was great to have a washer and dryer as Wellington lived up to its reputation and was a bit wet, windy and rainy.
