Pluses and minuses. A comfortable bed which is most important. One chair in the room. Shower pressure was only adequate but with a good shower space. We couldn't see how to open the bedroom window. On the second day we returned about 6pm and bed hadn't been made up so reported to reception requesting new towels and a staff member appeared quickly with new towels and made the bed. While he was there we noticed the rubbish bin had been emptied earlier so someone had been in the room but had left without making the bed.
We had the croissant and a danish each morning. They did not appear to be fresh any morning and I suspect they were taken from a freezer or delivered the previous day. On our last morning there was no butter available - they were waiting for a delivery apparently.

Staff were pleasant and helpful with any queries we had.

The hotel worked okay for us as we were out all day but they need to up their game in a number of respects.

Tēnā koe, Thank you for taking the time to tell us about your experience at TRYP by Wyndham Wellington. It is always a pleasure to receive feedback. Thanks for your feedback regarding our housekeeping service, as a new hotel we are always looking to improve the quality of our service and apoloigies this had not been done on the day but glad our team had responded and rectified this promptly for you. Rest assured our bakery items for breakfast are baked fresh each morning and delivered to the hotel from Pandoro Panetteria, a local bakery right around the corner from the hotel. Thank you again for sharing your experience, and we look forward to serving you in the future. TRYP by Wyndham Wellington

This place is great! We stayed in the 2 x double room, each had its own en-suite, with the washing machine and dryer in one of them. The kitchen/lounge was spacious, comfortable and well appointed. There were tvs in every room.
I told Amy, the ever smiling and helpful duty manager, that if I was ever building a sleep out at home, I would use this exact layout.
The hotel was only a 5 min walk to Te Papa.
5 stars😁👍👏

Visited Wellington for a wedding on the waterfront staying a couple of nights. Location was great with plenty of eateries close by, shopping within walking distance and plenty to do. Hotel reception staff were really friendly with check-in and check-out super simple. We had a king studio and although we didn’t cook there was ample scope to do so.

Lack of central mirror/bench space generally found in a hotel was perhaps a negative, and there were some construction/maintenance scaffolds outside the window but imagine these to be temporary.

Loved the complimentary continental breakfast in the lobby and also coffee/tea available during the day. We parked in nearby Taranaki Street car park from Thursday evening until Saturday morning (left car there entire time) and total cost was only $29. The cost of this hotel was reasonable in comparison to others in the city and we were pleasantly surprised with our choice and would definitely book again in future.

As a brand new hotel, there will definitely be teething issues, and it’s only little ones, but enough to make me not want to stay here again for a while.

The hotel is designed with an art deco theme, and the rooms reflect this. Minimalism is a slight understatement. In the I bed king room, there isn’t a comfy sofa to relax on, just two, really uncomfortable waiting room-like chairs, so your room is definitely not for relaxin in, unless you want to sit in your bedroom and stare at the wall.

There is an enormous washer and dryer in the bathroom, which is very strange as the hotel doesn’t look like it’s somewhere you’d want to stay longer than 1-2 nights. Lounge has no lamp for cozy evenings, just dazzling ceiling lights, and the supposed work desk and stool in the lounge would be impossible to work at, so it’s just there to unsuccessfully fill a wall.

Breakfast is a very strange affair with a few pastries, bread and jam, tea and coffee. There are also a few pieces of meat and cheese. Only seating for around 15 guests, so I’m not sure where everyone else would go, back to their rooms maybe? 🤷🏼‍♀️

No liquor licence as of yet, so complementary happy hour is an offering of soft drinks, but, like I said it’s all fixable.

Very strange hotel setup, maybe more suited to corporate business?

Kia ora Leeana, Many thanks for your review and feedback about our new hotel. Our hotel has been designed in an old Chicago art deco style to reflect the heritage of the building we are in that dates back to 1925 and designed by Chicago architects, its certainly all about clean lines, vibrant colours and textures. Leeana, I can see you had booked on of our Premium One Bedrooms Apartments, which we don't advertise as having a sofa or lamps in the lounge area but does have an art deco inspired table and chairs for dining, full kitchen facilities, a washing machine and dryer for those needing to use them and some comfortable armchairs in the lounge area which we have photos online for so guests know what they area booking before hand. For those wanting a living space with sofas, a fully equipped Miele kitchen and your own private balcony, you could have booked one of our Executive One or Two Bedroom Apartments which may have been better suited to your needs. Our light European continental breakfast is completely free for all guests and designed as an up and go breakfast with fresh pastries, croissants, cured meats and cheeses, fresh fruit and muesli with all day BCorp certified fairtrade coffee and tea. We are located to many fantastic eateries for those wanting a full cooked breakfast and our friendly team will help you with some recommendations. Our liquor licence is pending and we hope to have this soon so our guests have a drink or two and a bite to eat before heading to their favourite restaurant or bar. We look forward to welcoming you again in the future. Ngā mihi, Callum

Quality plus! From the moment We walked the7 the doors to the time we checked in. Daniela greeted us with a smile relaying all that the hotel offered. The fixtures were quality … bed, Manchester, bathroom, food and beverage offered in both lobby and rooms were generous and thoughtful. Cleanliness, service and overall vibe of the hotel was top notch and definitely a destination to stay when in Wellington. The location was excellent with the waterfront, Cuba and Te Papa being within 5 minutes walk in any direction … not too mention fabulous restaurants and bars!

On first sight hotel is well located off of busy street . Recently updated, clean and the staff are friendly. Our room was a VERY small claustrophobic room with glazed windows and a locked door to the balcony where a sextant of airconditioning units sang the entire night.
USB outlet is located in the alarm clock (front desk gave us an extra charger to use) they did know that behind the bed tables, you will need to move them, on each side of the bed there is a USB outlet. (Under the wall mounted TV thee is a “normal” outlet handy for working in the computer, no USB there.
Bathroom is nice size and attractive. Hot and cold running water adjusting the temperature is a trick in the shower.

On street parking 20:00 -08:00 free thereafter $5 per hour.
Welcome in Wellington.

We planned on staying here a few nights…???

TRYP by Wyndham is one of the nicest hotels I have stayed in during visits to Wellington. Its beautifully presented, well equipped and has wonderful staff. Rooms are spotless and the bed is soooo comfortable. Very quiet although in a fabulous location close to Courtenay Place and Te Papa. Light breakfast is complimentary also.

That's just an expression to illustrate that the room was so small, you would have stepped on your cat. Two people would have to slither by one another. Under the TV on the wall, there was a tiny table with a backless stool to sit on. This was the only place to put a laptop, but to use it for any length of time was very uncomfortable. The "window" was painted over. Apparently, they don't want you to see what's outside. The continental breakfast was adequate, but seating was right by the door to the street, and cold air came in frequently. There is only one tiny elevator (the luggage trolley just fit) for the whole hotel, and this had to be shared with staff. When I requested a late check-out, they didn't recognize my Wyndham status, so they denied my request based on the wrong information. When I showed them my status on the website, after a 20-minute wait for them to research it, they said it didn't matter.

Kia ora, Thanks for taking the time to write a review and tell us of your experience at TRYP by Wyndham Wellington. I would like to take the time to address some of the concerns you have raised. Unfortunately we do not condone pets on the property, however, service animals are allowed. I can see you used a Go Free stay using your Wyndham Rewards membership and hence booked a hotel room, our lead in room type - we advertise these rooms transparently including the msq of the room size, photos of a selection of rooms and demonstrate the facilities - we would recommend some further due diligence in future as we have 10 available room categories here at the hotel which includes much larger rooms, kitchens, balconies and laundries and including all the details as I have just explained and could have upgraded to - you have all the tools to select a room that is right for your own personal needs and would recommend this to you in the future so that a hotel can better accommodate your own needs. Regarding the building, we are a heritage listed building which means as per New Zealand heritage laws and building codes we cannot make substantial changes to the outside of the building - this way our hotel interior design team has uniquely designed the hotel to feature a selection of art works and amenities to accommodate this - in fact the room has a roller blind so you can easily roll up the window and take a look outside, unfortunately not much of a view, but many of our premium rooms have a view overlooking the city. In a majority of hotels in Aotearoa New Zealand elevators are shared between staff and guests - this is common practice throughout the industry - I suspect you will encounter this often throughout your travels around Aotearoa New Zealand, albeit unfortunately we only have one elevator and so I do apologise if you had to wait a substantial time to access your room. Regarding the request for a late check out, I can see your Wyndham Rewards membership may have just updated whilst staying more regularly at Wyndham Hotels & Resorts - unfortunately our Wyndham system had not updated this yet as a newly Gold member and so hence why initially declined. Once you had shown this to our team through your app which was updated, our team honoured the late check out for you as per your new membership benefits. I apologise for the delay in relaying this information to you - at the time you had dealt with a team member who had just started at the hotel and was doing her utmost to accommodate your request. Thank you for your review and feedback and we will be taking this onboard, especially as to our Wyndham systems and improving our recognition of benefits for our loyal Wyndham Rewards members. I do hope you nonetheless enjoyed your stay in the capital, Wellington. Callum, General Manager TRYP by Wyndham Wellington

Brand new hotel in the heart of downtown. Exceptionally clean, excellent staff and lovely personalized touches - a great place to stay. The room was very well equipped with its own mini- kitchenette- and included a lovely arrival gift of local colas and chocolate. This will be our hotel of choice for our trips to Wellington.

We arrived early planning to drop our bags off and check in later. Concierge Daniella advised us we had been upgraded and the room was ready, and to help ourselves to the breakfast bar. What a welcome- friendly, pleasant and accommodating. Room was more than we hoped for, modern, clean and comfortable. Loved the kitchenette, also the washing machine and clothes drier in the bathroom. Appreciated complimentary chocolates and drinks - water and juice each, we felt spoilt. The breakfast bar had the best coffee machine to kick start the day. Right in the centre of the city close to Te Papa, cafes, bars etc, yet our room was so quiet restful. Can't wait to return, highly recommend.
