Nestled in a bustling neighborhood, The Intrepid Hotel is celebrated for its tranquility and minimal street noise. The hotel's inviting vibe, replete with designer decor and thoughtful comforts, has earned it high marks from guests. Its competitive pricing and appealing amenities, including complimentary snacks and pet-friendly options, add to its value. While the rooms are stylish and lauded for their quietude, some lack natural light. Nonetheless, the hotel's prime location, attentive service, and unwavering cleanliness continue to impress those who stay.

This is a great little hotel. I would compare it to Naumi Hotel around the corner on Cuba Street, but a smaller version (a mini-Naumi if you will).
It's quirky, cute and romantic. There is a wine bar and shop downstairs so if you're after a last minute bottle of vino, you don't have far to go. We stayed on the third/top floor. There was tea and coffee facilities set up in the foyer of our floor, with a laundry and ice machine tucked away on our floor as well. Fresh milk in the fridge and even still and sparking water on tap. A nice touch.
The decorating was spot on. Our room was moody and romantic. Not gonna lie, it gets you in the mood. We sure as hell made the most of it. The lovely large bed was well dressed. We never felt cold. And the pillows were great.
The mini-bar in the room came stocked with non-alcoholic beverages free of charge (fizzy and juice) and some snacks were also provided. There was also a separate toilet from the bathroom, which is almost unheard of in hotel rooms these days.
Parking wasn't available on site but there was two Wilson car-parks within 5 minutes walk (an open-air carpark and also a carpark building, which is locked from midnight to 7am I believe).
There was literally only one downside, and this was more likely an issue because we stayed on a Saturday night. The windows are not double glazed, so you get all of the street noise. Our room was on the Ghuznee Street side, and directly opposite the hotel is Glover Park. There is a bar that opens onto this park so there were people milling about outside the bar and spilling into that park until at least 3-4am. It was pretty noisy with drunk people. But ear plugs were supplied in the room, which was a nice touch. But with our black out curtains and late (standard) checkout of 11am, we were able to make up any lost sleep.
I will be booking here again in the future if I want a romantic stay (and to be fair, Naumi is pretty expensive, so if the pricing here stays below Naumi it will become our first choice). If you need to just drop your head and sleep the night away, there are plenty of cheaper options in Wellington (we stay in Wellington every 2-3 months and pick somewhere new each time) but if you want something a little bit special, pick The Intrepid Hotel.

The Intrepid isn’t like other hotels. It’s much much better.

If you’ve only ever experienced generic chain hotels then you’re in for a treat.

The room felt more like an apartment than a hotel room. The bed is epic, it feels endlessly plush. Gorgeous floor to ceiling blackout curtains. A couch that you actually want to sit on. WC seperate from the main bathroom is nice too. And the fridge is tucked far enough away from the bed that you can’t hear it.

From inside the room there is nothing to giveaway the fact that you have neighbours. The solid brick walls block out all sound.

Keeping the coffee stand and magazines in the hallway is a great idea. The hallways have soul.

The decor is unique. In a good way.

Everything feels plush.

Croissants and filter coffee are a great way to start the day. You don’t miss having a kitchen with so much great dining to be had within a stone’s throw.

First, it's a charming hotel full of style and beautifully decorated. Then I'd say it's most generous, welcoming and accommodating. the staff is great. the rooms are in black-green-gold color scheme and are conveniently organized with enough space to move around. There was no breakfast included, but the hotel kindly offers coffee and fresh croissants every morning. There's also free tea and coffee on every floor. The toiletries are exquisite. Add to all that the great location near the Cuba street, and that's really all you'd wish for.

Had an amazing time staying at the Intrepid. The rooms were quiet, did not hear neighbours and minimal street noise. Room was clean and spacious, loved the addition of filtered coffee and pastries in the morning, as well as the snacks included. The hotel is a great location with cafes, restaurants, bars and shopping! Would recommend staying at the Intrepid and will again next time I am in town.

We loved our stay at The Intrepid! The location is wonderful, steps from Cuba Street and Hannah’s Laneway, and a short walk from theaters and Te Papa. The bed was comfortable; and linen bedsheets and Turkish towels are so luxurious! The room was stocked with a variety of snacks, sodas, with still and sparkling water, teas and coffee just outside. Our cleaning team was amazing; they kindly assisted me when my husband needed to sleep during our normal cleaning time. I love the art throughout the hotel and the wine bar on the first floor was a nice bonus. Laundry took a long time but it worked.

A couple of minor things to note: I’m a young person with a hip tear and there’s a very large step up to get in the door that I found quite painful, especially after a lot of walking. Once you’re inside there’s a lift. You can’t take food upstairs from the bar due to licensing restrictions. In our room, there weren’t many hangers or places to unpack clothes. These weren’t deal breakers but good to be aware of.

My stay was everything I love about boutique hotels. The check-in was quick and questions were answered before heading to my room. I had a room on the 3rd floor that was spacious with a comfortable bed. I loved having a bathroom with a separate toilet/sink area, a full shower, including plenty of counter space, a cool robe, and plush towels.

Each floor has a coffee/tea station and sparkling/still water dispenser. This was awesome and allows you to refill your water bottle every day. The complimentary drinks in the refrig and snacks in the room are always a major plus.

The Hotel is located in the heart of the Wellington action. There are restaurants, shops, public transportation, and an easy walk to Te Papa museum. I didn't try the restaurant in the hotel but it was busy every night.

The Intrepid is in a fantastic location with a really good variety of restaurants and shops very close by making for a cruisy, fun experience.

The boutique hotel is nicely appointed with designer décor that hasn’t cut corners. Beautiful soft linen sheets on a comfortable bed in a serene space - perfect for tired travellers! Our room was on the first floor, right above a busy wine bar but there was no noise whatsoever.

Staff were very helpful and accommodating; as an older couple we felt very welcome 😊 We’ll be back!

From start to finish this was one of the best hotel experiences I have ever had, and I have had a lot.

Very welcoming reception staff. The room was perfect for a solo traveller but plenty big enough for a couple. Bed was super comfee. Great lighting . The shower was fab and there was a toothbrush, razor, and sewing kit for emergencies. Pillow turn down and Freddo frogs greeted me on returning after dinner !!😍There is a drinks station on every floor with sparkling water tap, coffee and tea There is complimentary breakfast downstairs every morning.

Puffin wine bar is on the ground floor. Very cool vibe, great wine by the glass , a real local hangout.

The location is amazing. A few steps to Cuba Street where you will find fantastic shops, bars and cafes , and a short walk to all the main attractions.

There is nothing to fault about this Hotel, it is wonderful.
