Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Lou is an amazing host of an awesome b+b. The place is an amazing house with an indoor pool as it’s centrepiece, beautifully clean, quiet rooms and a nice comfortable feel. The location overlooks Wellington harbour and is relatively easy to access and close to the ferry but high enough to be away from the noise

I cannot say enough good things about Harbour Lodge. The rooms are beautiful with wonderful views, the pool was perfectly heated and a good size, the communal lounge with balcony and view over the harbour lovely to be in and the owners the nicest and most obliging people you could ever wish to meet. This one of the best places I have ever stayed in locally or overseas.

We only here for two nights prior to catching ferry (terminal very close), but would consider staying here even if not taking ferry. The location has great views of the harbour and the rooms extremely comfortable. Nice (shared) living room, which we enjoyed to ourselves; clearly this is not guaranteed! Breakfast fine. Some may find the steep driveway to park a little daunting, but there are options around this. Hosts very nice and friendly. We had two adjacent rooms (have a 6 year old daughter); very convenient (although we could have all fitted into one room - they are good-sized).

Truly outstanding venue. The beautiful views, the sheep farm and herding demonstration are not to be missed. The family and staff who were are host were fantastic. Also the drive along Wellington Harbour to get to the Lodge was breathtaking.

We spent 5 nights at Harbour Lodge and it was just great ! Lou and Chris were so welcoming and friendly - they kindly got us takeaway on our first night and it was great to spend time to get to know them at Breakfast. It was a busy time as it was the Lions rugby weekend but we always felt at home and relaxed. The views are wonderful and the lodge is an amazing place to visit . Thank you !

What a find... 4 nights at this great B&B. 4 letting rooms. Our room had partial view of Wellington harbour, v comfy, big bed, well equipped, nice and warm. Powerful shower, heated bathroom and bedroom. Fab continental breakfast. Use of big guest lounge overlooking harbour, pool (in summer) and hot tub (all year). Free parking. Lou and Chris made us feel very welcome and couldn't have been more friendly or helpful. Very short, hilly, easy drive into city. Tricky to find, so do ask the owners for directions. Highly recommended.

This accommodation is truly the essence of what we expected form a B&B , warm friendly and spacious with all the amenities that you would expect and more. Located just out of the CBD this B&B is perfectly located with stunning views of Wellington harbour. Our hosts Lou and Chris were friendly and welcoming, they have both traveled extensively and know all the favoured attractions the city has to offer.

More of a non-review. Despite being booked 7 months in advance, on arrival no-one was at the premises, we were greeted by just a note. When we returned 2 hours later the rooms were not ready, and the place was not as welcoming as we have come to expect from Kiwis. Outstanding views, but not run as a business in my view. We did not stay. Other places which treat customers better deserved our cash.

Winter is still here, but I can see how nice and warm the place on summer, or even spring. It was busy with the Lux - Light Festival at the moment, there was few food trucks, the Turkish one is the one we loved but the Indian also nice to have. Cannot stay too long because of the temperature :(

Stayed for 3 nights, we booked at very short notice and were so glad we did! Raining heavily, we were tired after hours of driving, and we were warmly welcomed by Lou and Chris. We were shown to our beautiful cosy room (we were the only guests at the time) and found the room just perfect for our needs. Beautiful, comfortable bed, lovely bathroom with heated towel rail AND a luxuriously heated floor! We had our own entrance, and the substantial breakfast provided was very nice, loved the choice of bread! It rained for our entire visit, but the glimpsed views from the room and the breakfast area/lounge looked spectacular. The driveway is very steep, but the parking is quite flat and accessible. The road to the B&B requires some care, as the house is set into the hill and the street can be narrow in places with cars parked on either side. Overall, would recommend and we would certainly return!
