We had three nights in Finnimore House. Very comfortable room, shared facilities. Willie was very informative and would have helped with directions and locations to visit but as we had been to Wellington several times before, we were in a good position to get to all the places we needed to. Centrally located in a quiet street we found it very easily although the drive is very steep up to the front door and parking, if there are other guests, can be a bit tricky.

We stayed here 5 years ago and remembered the warm welcome which immediately made us feel at home. Coming back to Wellington, there was only one choice, and we were not disappointed. This is a beautiful family home and Willie is a genuine and welcoming man who clearly loves to have international visitors staying. The location drawback is that Wellington is hilly and Finnimore house is at the top of a hill... You can manage with public transport but a good pair of legs would come in handy!

A large, comfortable house with the two guest rooms and shared bathroom on the ground floor. Warm welcome from the host, who is very helpful with recommendations on what to do in Wellington. It brought back memories of what a B&B should be....

We needed alternative accomodation when coming down to see a new grandaughter, so looked for something nearby. Could not have made a better choice. The hospitality, bedroom, food, decor and ambiance all excellent. We have recommended Finnimore House to many friends and will look forward to staying again. We were pleasantly surprised at the cost. Excellent value for money.

Rather easy to find location and surprisingly central. Lovely old Victorian House. We stayed two nights in the spacious Blue room (22m2) with its high ceiling and four big windows. The shower room with nice cork floor was shared and down the hall. But there are only two guestrooms, so that was not a problem. Bathrobes available. There was no traffic sound at night. Willie was improving the terraces around the house and served an excellent full breakfast. Parking on site, Wifi, coffee/tea and a fridge on the room. One night we had our own take-away in the breakfast-dining room. We talked about many issues with Willie and he showed us a picture of his daughter when she was a lead dancer in the Riverdance musical. Great B&B with character and warm hospitality.

We stayed only one night with my dad during the rugby world cup in 2011.
The house is vast and the rooms are comfortable and spacious situated on the first floor with green views all around.
You get the breakfast in the dining room area, large table to share with other guests. That was very friendly.
The house is situated on a hill, very calm area but very close to the central area (10mins by car). We drove there, you can park in the property. I don't know about public transports to get there, but if you wanted to walk to the city center that would take you something like 25mins.
The owners are Irish immigrants (been there for years) and the house had the flavor of Ireland.
I'd recommend this place to anyone spending a few days in Wellington

Only stayed one night with Willie and Kathleen. The room had a lovely big king bed, a single bed and a huge wall of books. Heavy curtains ensured a great nights sleep. Shared bathroom is large and well appointed. Highly recommended and only a few minutes south of the city ($11cab ride each way)

Willie and Kathleen are a delightful, friendly couple who obviously enjoy the company of their guests. The bedrooms are large and airy. The breakfast will set you up for the day. We stayed there before and after our visit to South Island. Even the cat is very friendly ! Alan Thomas, Glanaman, Wales.

Willie & Kathleen Ryan made us so welcome that, over the 17 nights we stayed there, we almost felt part of the family. It's not a hotel, it's a small B&B with a shared bathroom for the two huge downstairs bedrooms, a shared lounge and dining room. It's an old (1920s style) house on a hill with some lovely art Deco aspects. There's no TV, radio, telephone or mini-bar in the bedroom but we'd happily stay there again for the comfort, the relaxed atmosphere and Willie's marvellous hospitality and breakfasts. There was tea & coffee making in the bedroom (top up the milk jug from the kitchen fridge as needed), we had our own front door key, there was ample parking and areas to sit out in to enjoy the morning or evening sunshine. Bilbo the cat was as friendly and well-behaved as a cat could be. The location suited us, being half-way between the city and where our relatives were living.
