Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Had a great stay, enjoyed the free continental breakfast (Hilton Gold status), there is a $10 fee to upgrade to full breakfast. The chef, Ashish (sorry if the spelling is off), he made custom dishes every morning, and was accommodating to our special requests. Good guy.

Hotel's Favourite
We stayed at the DoubleTree and was pleasantly surprised. I have stayed in Wellington quite a few times and this was by far the best sleep I have had. The room was incredibly quiet, the bed was very comfortable, I had one of the best sleeps I have had in a long time! The front desk team were lovely, polite and helpful. I would highly recommend staying here.

We stayed at the Doubletree by Hilton for 2 night ....Room 1407. It was a pleasent stay, very comfortable rooms, clean, well maintained, great location in the center of the city, close to shopping and restuarants, lovely big bathroom and fantastic buffet breakfast. Friendly staff and check-in easy and quick. Parking a little expensive. Overall a good stay and would stay again. Recommended if visiting Wellington

Excellent location for visiting the city - close to many of the main attractions. The historic cable car is directly next door. The beautiful harbour is a 3-minute walk. Very welcoming staff, large and comfortable rooms. Breakfast was generous, but fairly standard. Coffee - DIY from a machine at breakfast - wasn't great. Restaurant for dinner was good, but busy - make sure you book.

The windows let in so much noise is unbelievable, to compound this the service risers are not insulated so you hear every flush of toilets, water running and baths being filled. We were absolutely amazed and disappointed that we paid so much and this experience was worse than a Motor Lodge at the side of a major road. The 2 lifts have a mind of their own and very slow so expect a wait as explained by an employee.

Location- downtown. Not the trendy area but urban downtown. Close to harbor. Parking available in attached building for a fee. Convenient but a pain due to one way streets. Rooms comfortable, staff friendly. Breakfast was good - continental included as a gold member.

One of the most unwelcoming hotel stays in recent memory. It is clear this hotel caters to business clientele that move in and out. The front desk staff are not warm and welcoming. Seldom on your entry into the hotel did they even look up to acknowledge you have entered the property. The exterior balcony outside of our room was absolutely disgusting. See photos. An overall horrible customer experience and now I realize why my brand loyalty remains with another brand.

Dear toozenough, Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback with us. I am deeply sorry for the shortcomings during your most recent visit. All our hotel staff are warm, approachable and ready to assist however in this instance we have failed to provide the exceptional guest experience that we are renowned for. As for the hotel balcony, rest assured that we are in the midst of devising a permeant way to keep the pigeon away from these areas. I hope that this issue did not overshadow the rest of your stay and the team and I look forward to welcoming you back in the future. Thank you for choosing DoubleTree by Hilton Wellington, and we hope to have the opportunity to serve you again soon. Kind Regards, Leonard Francis

The hotel is situated in the town centre. The reception staff on arrival were brilliant, our room wasn't ready as we arrived early so they took all our bags giving us time to drop off our hire car. The room itself was a standard room very modern, clean with all the facilities you need including safe, ironing board, hair dryer, coffee making facilities and a large tv. The hotel had a restaurant, bar and a small gym but no guest laundry. The hotel is central and is on the main bus route for journeys to the airport and other locations. Staff were brilliant and would fo anything to help out. Use the reception staff for any advice on where to ho very knowledgeable. Overall fantastic stay

This hotel is brilliantly located and in an historic building, the grandeaur is continued in the furnishings and it's lovely to have high ceilings, even if the room was quite compact and the pigeons outside each morning acted as a dawn chorus! Breakfast was on 1st floor, buffet style, not much seating but just enough on the days we ate there. A good start to the day

The hotel location was perfect across the street from the cable car and close to so many restaurants and cafes. The restaurant offered breakfast and dinner. Breakfast was not complimentary but the food offerings were very good. We ate dinner last night and and the starters and salmon were very good. Highly recommend this hotel in Wellington.
