DoubleTree by Hilton Wellington offers a boutique-style hotel with a luxury vibe and grandeur décor throughout the premise. The rooms are well-kept, lobbies illuminated with soft lamp lighting and generally fragrant throughout.

Hotel concierge were accommodating and quick to resolve a few mishaps that we encountered, thanks to Marco and Stella for the professionalism and support.

I note that people have complained about the parking situation, however this issue is prevalent across Wellington CBD, particular with the central location of the Hotel. The Hotel is a refurbished heritage building that originally didn't need to cater for underground parking.

Finally, the Hotel's restaurant (Grazie) can benefit from uplifting their hot breakfast options to cater for a variety of people of different backgrounds and religion.

Overall a superb stay for us in Wellington, location, comfort and quality.
Will definitely choose DoubleTree by Hiltonat Wellington on our next stay.

We stayed at the DoubleTree and was pleasantly surprised. I have stayed in Wellington quite a few times and this was by far the best sleep I have had. The room was incredibly quiet, the bed was very comfortable, I had one of the best sleeps I have had in a long time!

The front desk team were lovely, polite and helpful. I would highly recommend staying here.

I booked this hotel online due to its location and apparent quality offering for our 3 night stay. The hotel is a previous commercial CBD building of some historical significance, with the usual associated features.

Staff at check-in were friendly and helpful. Upon arriving at our room however we were greeted with a very small dark corner room with a window facing the neighbouring office building, not what I was expecting. I enquired with reception as to whether an alternative room was available and for an additional $15 pn was given a much more suitable and light room with a window overlooking Lambton Quay.

With this minor disruption behind us we were then able to enjoy the Hotel. The location is excellent, almost directly over the road from the Cable Car providing direct access to the Botanic Gardens. Houses of Parliament, Te Papa Museum and Cuba Street are only a short walk away. Plenty of good restaurants, cafes and bars and also located in the vicinity.

The room itself was well maintained. The bed was heaven to sleep on. Bathroom features and products were of a high standard. There were a few quirky things associated with a room that has been retro-fitted (bar fridge in stand-alone cabinet) but nothing of any significance.

We opted for the breakfast option and were pleasantly surprised. A good range of alternatives was on offer. I consider it was fair value for money.

Overall, I thought the hotel was comfortable, convenient, quiet and met our expectations (once an appropriate room had been provided).

After some poor experiences with another Hilton property in Hawaii and, to some extent, in Australia, this stay was a pleasant surprise that demonstrates that Hilton still has the capability to deliver a first-class experience. At the DoubleTree by Hilton in Wellington, standards such as daily room servicing, complimentary welcome bottles of water, and a generously sized room in well-maintained and unblemished condition felt like a journey back to the good times before the pandemic and inflation diminished hotel experiences worldwide.

The staff, without exception, were friendly and helpful, making us feel genuinely welcomed as guests. Overall, DoubleTree Wellington provided the kind of hotel experience that guests can hope for and truly appreciate. Please continue to maintain this high standard—it could serve as a role model for other DoubleTree properties around the globe!

Myself and my family stayed here for 3 nights on the 7th floor. The room was clean and had everything you needed, was great that you could Chromecast with the TV who’d kept the kids entertained. Our room was quite dark which was a shame, we needed to have the lights on as there was very little natural light. We also noticed that the wallpaper was starting to peel off in one of the ceiling corners (room 716), not what you’d expect for a $350/night room. The buffet breakfast was good with a decent hot and cold food selection, and the staff were friendly. We did walk in a couple of times without being acknowledged by the reception staff, just a few small things that customers notice and appreciate. Lovely old building though and it’s in a great location with the city and shops on its doorstep

I thoroughly enjoyed my two night stay at the Doubletree by Hilton Wellington, which has a really superb location on Lambton Quay, just over the road from an airport express bus stop and a relatively short walk from the main railway station (around ten minutes on foot), with so many of the city sights within easy walking distance.

The hotel lives up to its art-deco styling with a mix of original features and really comfortable and practical, well decorated rooms. The small touches were good too - I particularly appreciated the box of premium teas on offer in the room.

As a gold member I was given vouchers for some complimentary drinks and a delightful welcome surprise of some profiteroles, which I really loved.

Breakfast in the relatively small restaurant offered a modest but decent spread (as a Gold member continental breakfast was free rather than 29NZD but hot dishes would have required a 10NZD supplement).

I ate in the hotel restaurant, Spring, on both nights of my stay and really enjoyed their tasty fusion dishes (the Halloumi Karaage Bao Burger with mala spice fries was a particular highlight).

In short, the DoubleTree by Hilton Wellington exceeded all my expectations. After the warm welcome I received on my arrival and the classy room I was already quite sure that I knew where I would be booking to stay again on my next visit to Wellington!

I've never been more impressed by a DoubleTree in my life, and I've stayed in my fair share primarily in the US, but also worldwide. Stayed here for three nights and it was awesome, and a great home base for our first trip to Wellington.

The hotel is located in the heart of the CBD, and an easy walk to nearly every major point of interest in the vicinity. More than that, the hotel is in a historical building, making the hotel full of rich culture and great finishes. Service from check-in to check-out was impeccable, rooms appointed very well even including little touches like robes, large standalone bath tubs, etc.

While we didn't dine in the restaurant for lunch or dinner, breakfast is great and a great selection of hot and cold items, and with roaming wait staff to help take your tea orders.

Highly recommend, and I'd easily stay here again on my next trip to Wellington. As a Hilton Honors Diamond member, I'm also blown away by the benefits received - received an upgrade to a higher category room, two free drinks vouchers as well as welcome amenity of chocolate dipped strawberries delivered to the room shortly after arriving, and access to the full breakfast each morning. It's little things like this that go a long way, and the whole time I just felt like I was at a higher brand like a Hilton, Conrad or Waldorf Astoria. No joke, if you've stayed in other DoubleTrees this one feels and delivers in ways that are WAY better!

We stayed in Room 308 for a couple of nights.

Check in was seamless and very welcoming, even though we arrived early around 1300, so a big shout out to the team for finding us a room overlooking Grey Street.

The staff, their friendliness and level of service was faultless – from getting a text before we arrived asking if there was anything we needed, to extra tea bags being delivered unasked, to the unexpected delivery of a heater to getting some plates, flutes and cutlery delivered.

Our room was clean, had everything we wanted, fast internet and great water pressure in the shower – all in all everything and more that we wanted.

I’d been critical of the Double Tree in the past, but this weekend the Double Tree and staff excelled.

This was the hotel of old and the vibe of a top-class hotel again (with happy and engaged staff) which has obviously bounced back from some of the hiccups experienced in the aftermath of COVID-19.

The location in downtown Wellington is fantastic on the Golden Mile – opposite Cable Car Lane, Woolworths and a minute’s walk to the Golden Mile, the Double Tree is perfectly situated for a fantastic break away weekend.

So, thank you to all the staff whether you work at reservations, check in, the bar, housekeeping for a great weekend.

Would we come back again - you bet!

The hotel is situated in the town centre. The reception staff on arrival were brilliant, our room wasn't ready as we arrived early so they took all our bags giving us time to drop off our hire car. The room itself was a standard room very modern, clean with all the facilities you need including safe, ironing board, hair dryer, coffee making facilities and a large tv. The hotel had a restaurant, bar and a small gym but no guest laundry. The hotel is central and is on the main bus route for journeys to the airport and other locations. Staff were brilliant and would fo anything to help out. Use the reception staff for any advice on where to ho very knowledgeable. Overall fantastic stay

I travel to Wellington a couple of times a year. I've stayed in the Intercontinental (generally over priced for what it is! ), the Sofitel (on par with Hilton for luxury stay), Novotel (run of the mill - nothing special) and Mercure (to be avoided). The Hilton DoubleTree is a gem! It has very friendly staff, food is to a high quality but the rooms are the secret weapon - they are super comfortable, quite luxurious and modern and never noisy. The air con works well weather you need heat or cooling without lots of noise. In the bathrooms they are bright and you can see yourself in a mirror to shave (many hotels don't have enough light in the bathrooms).

Hotel does have a 24 hour desk. Expedia website states checkin is from 3.00pm until 12.00 midnight. Definitely arrange with front desk for your late/early arrival, website also states a late/early checkin fee may apply. Hotel website does have a chat option if you wish to clarify details, hope that helps.

The hotel has some rooms on the top floor with a balcony. Make sure you put your request in the special comments section 'for a balcony' while making a reservation.
