We stayed for 5 nights in June, 2 nights in a delux room and 3 in the suites out the front. The Wellington weather was it’s winter worst but the hotel was a welcome retreat. Staff could not have been more helpful and welcoming, the cafe/bar downstairs was a nice space, and the rooms themselves were spacious, spotless and comfortable (as well as retro cool of course). Fantastic location, easy walking distance to everything. We hope to be back, travel bubbles permitting!

We stayed at Ohtel for one night. The decor is charming and details such as Art and Object magazine unique. We were very comfortable in the room with local boutique refreshments which differs from many other hotels around who offer standard brands.
We thought the bathroom really let the stay down. The towel rail is tiny you would only really have room for a bathmat and hand towel on it so it was a struggle to dry/warm towels. The shower is a wet-room and water simply shoots out all over the bathroom floor leaving no choice but to use all the towels you can find to mop it up. There are no hooks for your robes so you have to hang them on the basin or floor. The sliding glass doors were an attempt at design flare which are actually a liability as difficult to walk comfortably through, they are chipped and not suited to larger people, you simply wouldn't be able to fit.
On returning to the hotel after a night out the lift was broken and no staff to speak to about it until i called the after hours off site, it did feel slightly strange being the only awake person in teh establishment and not having a face to face assistant there for help.
It was a shame, everything else was great.

Ohtel is a very small (10 rooms), very stylish (think mid 20th century) boutique hotel in central Wellington. Service was excellent at all times, the lobby cafe was very popular with a pleasant buzz when we arrived and the next morning when we checked out.

The location is great for a weekend away with the better half, just around from Oriental Bay and 10 minutes walk from the other end of the CBD. Wellington's centre is compact and easily walkable, which we did. There are plenty of cafes and bars 5 minutes Away in Courtney Place but we never heard a sound.

The bed was very comfortable and the pillow menu, with teo different styles of pillow provided, was much appreciated.

All up highly recommended for something different, in a good way

This is a very glamorous hotel with beautiful mid century styling. Our room was huge with a view of the sea. The bed was super comfy and the staff very helpful. There was fresh milk in the fridge, and we could cast Netflix etc to the large tv. I would highly recommend it.

From the moment we booked this hotel online the communication was outstanding. Nothing was too much travel and our questions were answered promptly. The manager who checked us in is so warm, welcoming and so helpful throughout our stay. She really makes this place!!
Our room was spotless and had a lovely view of the city and sea. The bed was so comfy and if you didn’t like the pillows you could have asked for another selection from the pillow menu.
The location of the hotel is so handy to everything. The cafe at the enter to the hotel has a small but lovely menu and great coffee. We had breakfast here both days.
We would certainly book to stay here again.

A strange room! Deluxe, good size, comfy & clean but absolutely no view.
A large bathroom with separate bath /shower, though not convinced that glass bathroom wall is one of the better design features for this room, messing about with an enormous curtain for privacy. On one side of bed there is a tiny wardrobe which which was already full up, robes, 2 ironing boards, & iron and the other side a fridge, tea/coffee/kettle etc. Little lounge area.
Breakfasts were adequate & good start to the day.

Staff are lovely and the location is good. However for the price expect better internet access - there is fibre available in Wellington so no excuse really. Also our first room had no opening window and was very stuffy. We paid for an upgrade so we had fresh air however the cleaning smell, maybe carpet refresher ? was overbearing and the bathroom fan rattled all night. It's a shame when a good idea - mid century boutique - deteriorates into over priced 3 star accommodation.

Booked a long weekend for the rugby. Our top floor room was lovely and roomy with a great view, cool retro decor, super comfy bed and pillows. There was a weird musty smell for the first day or so, but as soon as we mentioned it housekeeping was onto it and the drain responsible was dealt to, with free breakfast provided by way of apology. Our daughter flew down from Auckland and was supposed to be staying with family, however, due to Covid this wasn't possible, and it was no issue at all for them to provide additional towels and bedding so she could stay in our room as well. Nothing was too much trouble and I look forward to our next stay. Highly recommended.

What a find! Great location on the quayside, very helpful and friendly staff, lovely laidback but cool vibe. The room was clean and very comfortable and surprisingly quiet given it is on a main road (our room was on 3rd floor which probably helped). Pia on reception booked a great restaurant for us for dinner and then served a delicious breakfast in the bar next morning. I wouldn’t hesitate to stay here again.
