Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

What a dump!! Lift rattles and shakes, no sound proofing, tired, dusty and sad. No one cares and one of my favourite parts? When you ask to speak to a manager?? Allegedly they don't work at weekends!! Obviously my other favourite part is where they're supposed to tell you when you check in, that you need to *ASK* to have your bed made!!!! Easily the worst hotel I've stayed at in a long time - made that bit more miserable when you consider the cost for 2 nights for 2 people? Over 600 dollars and that didn't include breakfast!!!

Our stay at Hotel Armitage was very comfortable and clean and the staff were friendly and helpful. The Clipper restaurant was also good. The Hotel is in a good and quiet position on the hill of Willow Street, and within easy walking distance of restaurants, cafes, the i-Site shop and buses to Mt Manganui. We enjoyed our stay at Hotel Armitage and at Tauranga.

The hotel is very 'tired'. The lift shakes and rattles, which is a nightmare for someone with a disability who is claustrophobic. The bedroom was basic but the bathroom was 1970's awful. I'm only 5ft and I found it difficult. It was at the most 2 x 2 mtrs, containing a very old shower and a very high toilet. No room to even keep the towel next to the shower. The restaurant was closed so we had to dine in the bar which was a sole-less miserable room with no redeeming features and the food was below average.

We stayed twice in the space of a couple of days. The room is large and spacious, very clean with a comfy bed and for a change a good supply of coffee - let down for us is the milk, rather than the little pots it would of been nice to have a bottle. The bathroom is huge! However it is worth noting that the showers power is not very strong so need to allow a little extra time! All in all a good stay and within walking distance of the local town high street.

Wow, what an awesome stay at Hotel Armitage! 🌟 The vibe is fantastic, and you can tell they're stepping up their game. The building looks sharp with some cool upgrades. Beds? Super cozy! Rooms? Comfort level 100. But wait, there's more! The staff is seriously the friendliest bunch ever. From breakfast to dinner and even the late-night room service, the food is a total treat. Oh, did I mention the pool? Had a sunny day, and they had us covered with umbrellas and loungers. Perfect setup! Big kudos to the team. Keep rockin', Hotel Armitage! 🚀

This place is over priced and not value for money. You get charged 3% for credit card use and no pay pal . They say that there's a happy hour when there isn't any plus no in house dinning on a sat and sunday night only room service which was not very nice our room was outside in the car park . The shower would not drain until you pull the drain plug out plus the inner part and that was full of hair and still is yuck yuck not cleaned out at all.

Terrible concept. Needed to go to an urgent oncology appointment where I would have my two young children and my nana who needs my assistance and they wouldn’t even let us book when we could use the two beds. How am I expected il to care for them all in seperate rooms? Horrible concept where is the humanity

Nicest staff. I mentioned the power switch wasn’t working in bathroom about 7pm by 7..10 it was all fixed! Breakfast a real treat and great value, room was spacious lovely decor. Obviously built to be a feature venue it can still hold its place in this thriving neighbourhood.

We were here for a two day mini conference. The hotel and facilities are nice enough. They’re in the process of updating, redecorating and recarpeting the hotel rooms and corridors. My first floor room was modern ,clean and fresh with a huge comfy king sized bed. The east facing balcony was the be set feature, as was the sliding door which allowed the breeze in to what would be a stuffy room. The bathrooms are a huge bit of poorly used real estate. Double sink - why?!? Small shower over spa bath , which was nice but token -like the bubbles it produced! Points for multi use bathroom products. Alas no recycling. There’s no housekeeping for multi day stays, unless you request at reception. The food was dire- breakfast and conference lunch. Low quality (No Frills brands) processed and bland. But the conference dinner was better - different chef??! Staff were present but but unaware. Recommend a room only package, would only stay again for work!
