Detailed Reviews
My experience was amasing, close to all amenities, you get the best of everything. Most of all the accomodation and staff make you feel at home. I've traveled the world and lived a life in Motels/Hotels so i do not complement any one normally but feel obligued to let everyone know you get value , respect and courtisy from a great establshment and team. Spa, pool, and if you prefer something more private even your own spa bath in room. Air conditioning, sky TV movies free, free wifi and daily experienced and courtious room service . What else could you ask for. Well nothing is too much to ask for from City Suites, i only wish they had one in every city or country i visit

My husband and I were in Tauranga one night, for work. Just needed somewhere to sleep. We were delighted by the Service, the lockup parking, the large room with it's huge comfortable bed, the cleanliness of the entire suite with it's perfect balcony and the cleanliness. My husband's breakfast poached eggs were over-cooked but that was nothing compared to all the up-sides. My own eggs were perfectly scrambled :-)
Totally affordable, real value for money. Centrally located for all needs retail and dining.

We love staying at City Suites. Located centrally, a lift from carpark to the rooms. Breakfast is absolutely delicious. The rooms are modern, spacious, clean and has all the requirements I need for my busy business schedule and is so suitable for travellers. David is a awesome host and because of his services he is the reason we keep coming back. Thank you for looking after us 💕. Nga mihi (regards) Tangiwai and Mohi Palmer, owners Mo's Matakana Island Tours 😊🌾

City Suites Tauranga is conveniently located, with safe underground car parking and faultless wifi. Beyond that it is difficult to reconcile our experience of it with any of its positive reviews.
The inside of the property was tired; gloomy corridors, stained carpets, sad rooms. There was thick dust on many surfaces in the corridors and in our room. The swimming pool needed repair to make it appealing. It looked nothing like the web-site picture.
Daily housekeeping was erratic; waste-bin sometimes not emptied, bathroom often not cleaned, carpet rarely swept. Broken light bulbs were not replaced, either in the room or the corridor, but bizarrely the electric kettle was always returned to its cupboard!
We stayed here during a world tour and we know what a well-run hotel feels like. There are far better places to stay in Tauranga. Under no circumstances would we return to City Suites.

This is advertised as 5 star, it is no where near, it is dated and very tired. The lady when I arrived was vacuuming and when came to the desk unplugged it without even acknowledging me, I spoke and she told me she would be a minute and left again. When she returned she gave me all the information I needed for my 2 night stay but not one smile or any kind of welcome. Great to have the carparking underneath and secure, the lift was smelly and needed a good vacuum. Got into my room - said it was an executive room. Old bedspread but good clean linens. Definitely from the 80s. My windows were open and when I tried to shut them one was totally out of alignment so I called for someone to come and take a look. A man arrived promptly but the first thing he said to me was "you've broken it". Really?? He managed to pull it into the frame and I clipped it shut. I did not touch it again during my stay. Bathroom clean but shower had mould in places, good water pressure. My kettle kept turning itself off so I let them know on my checkout and also checked that he was getting the window fixed. The carpets in the place are tired and soiled in some areas, the lift area in the basement did not give a first impression. Would not stay again, no welcome, it was not a budget price and the photos do not tell the true story

Everybody else stayed two nights but we could only stay one. We thought we’d booked one night but there was confusion where they thought we booked two nights like everybody else and they insisted we pay for two.
Even though I said it was a simple error he blamed the person who booked all the rooms for the group. (There was at least 10 rooms booked.)
Anyway I paid for the night even though we didn’t stay - needless to say we are giving it a poor review.
On top of that, this place isn’t no 5+. It’s dirty & run down too.

This was our last stop of a 15 day trip around the lower North Island and what a huge disappointment for our $160. The elevator stunk of urine and the carpet from there to our room was full of stains. Once in our room we were greeted with torn wallpaper, dirty and stained carpets, a loose kitchen cupboard door hinge, water leaking in the kitchen cupboard with stains, and a small balcony which was so grubby that you wouldn’t sit out there and definitely wouldn’t eat there. The extractor fan in the bathroom was effective but would wake the dead and was so full of old dust and mould. The toilet seat was loose and when I got the electric jug out, the base had dirt around the inside and the lid came off in my hands. When all of this was brought to their attention, they thanked us for our feedback.

There were so many breaches of security. The heater in the room didn’t work, the tap in the sink in the bedroom was on a complete swivel, the neighbour's heater or whatever it was upstairs, was so loud our sleep was constantly being interrupted. The window security stay and the window lock didn’t work and the door itself, if shaken would open on its own. The security chain on the main door was broken and detached and as a result you couldn’t secure the door. The water from the shower began to overflow into the bathroom. The heater in the bathroom did not work and the extractor fan in the bathroom did not work and was full of dust.
I reported all these issues to the receptionist who apparently knew about these them, saying she had reported them previously but nothing happened to restore or repair them…..not really a good situation to be conveying to guests. I attempted to fix the tap in the bedroom but it would only be a short term fix as I couldn’t screw the holding nut under the sink with no equipment. Question is why were we put into this room knowing there were these issues with it?
My wife and I were so cold in the room, the bed was so cold….no electric blankets, we came away from your City Suites with a cold for me and bronchitis affecting my wife.
The room itself was clean and tidy, apart from the carpet which was stained. However, the underground car park smelt badly of rotting vegetables.
The receptionist offered us another room but being seniors and we had so quite a bit of gear it would have been a long arduous job, relocating.
We cannot recommend City Suites based on the poor performance of rooms and lack of attendance to rectify the problems. We contacted them again after we returned home and had to send three emails to even receive an acknowledgement from them.

After reading negative feedback i was a little wary of what to expect as it wasn't me that did the booking. But now i have to say that negative feedback that i read is unwarranted as i found City Suites very comfortable and had 2 excellent nights there. Liked that it had a hob so i could cook and also had a balcony where you could sit and have a wine at night and coffee in the morning. My only complaint and it is a minor one is that plates were stired at ground level which made it hard for someone with a back complaint like me hard to get at them. I am happy to say i would be happy to stay there again

Awesome place to stay, really lovely staff and bed was super comfortable
Lovely and clean with big spacious bathroom
Very quiet and a under ground car park with lift to your room
We would definitely stay here again. At $150 a night that price is hard to beat
