Detailed Reviews
This was the only accommodation we could get into for first 2 nights of our trip to Tauranga (just post Christmas) but our 2 bedroom motel room was clean, spacious and cheap (relatively) with a nice large bathroom. Close to a shopping mall and a quick drive into Tauranga. Basic but ideal for 2 adults and 2 adult’ish kids.

Very clean, and spacious rooms. Everything I needed was available. Heat pump for cooler evenings which kept the room cosy. Nice windows to let light in with blinds for privacy. Staff were friendly and welcoming. Will stay here again soon. Thank you.

Loved our stay. The rooms were very clean, tidy, spacious and the bathtub had a jacuzzi. Spa was lovely felt like we were in a resort. Not to mention the playground at the back, the kids loved it. Receptionist was really friendly and nice. Very helpful too. Definitely will be coming back. Thanks so much.

I recently stayed at the Bethlehem Motor Inn for two nights while on a business trip. I've stayed here several times over the past couple of years and previously reviewed it very positively. However, there's been a deterioration in room quality over the past 12 months in particular and its reached the point for me where the lack of attention to maintenance and cleanliness is such that it no longer meets my expectations.
I've attached photos of a couple of things to illustrate my point. One shows the peeling paint around a light socket in a bathroom and the other a crumb and stain-covered chair in the kitchen/lounge area (both photos were taken upon arrival). Other issues included hair in the supposedly clean shower and unrepaired damage to the plaster cladding outside the main door.
I didn't report these issues to the acting managers because they weren't of sufficient significance in their own right to warrant it (I also don't consider it my job to do a manager's inspection work for them). For me it's really a case of seeing them in the broader context of a steady decline in quality over the time I've been staying at the motel.
The motel is still basically fine and it's in a very convenient location. It will therefore undoubtedly continue to meet the needs of many people. However, from my perspective there are now better alternatives available in Tauranga.

Thank you for taking the time to draw your concerns to us while we have been away from the motel for our once a year family holiday over the past two weeks, certainly not the standard I or my wife approve of as you will read in other reviews, and we will be addressing the issues you have raised when we return to work tomorrow. We do check our rooms after our cleaners have finished and do get them to fix anything they have missed so that they learn and are aware of our standards. Unfortunately like i am sure you do we do have to take a break away from work to get refreshed as it is a 7 day a week life we live when running a motel. We are continuously working to improve our rooms and stay on top of any issues that may come up along the way preventing them from happening when ever possible. We are sorry to hear you did not enjoy your stay and you expectations were not met we will look to improve our performance as a motel to hopefully prevent such issues in the future. Kind regards Matt & Saho

Really bad attitude...quite aggressive to be fair, I questioned paying by credit card..didn't want to pay the transaction fee was happy to confirm booking by credit card that's standard and understand that however they wanted $400 for 2 nights stay and a bond of $300 paid at check in $700..with $300 returned at check out.. I said well can you run a few dollars on the credit card when j arrive and I would pay the full $400 on my check account when checking in... was told No 'we don't do that' , very strange attitude Here, then was told that they had problems with payments in the past and that is why it's that way...quite frankly not my fault or my problem I am a honest kiwi and have stayed in hundreds and hundreds of hotels and motels over the years (staying in one tonight better service then here) then after giving my credit card details to confirm the booking the motel manager said there were 2 rooms of the 1bed type we booked one was in a quiet place in the complex and had a...pull out or basic type bed for our 4yo and the other was in a not so quiet position and had a proper single bed for our 4yo was asked which room I would like, I said very politely would it be possible to have the proper single bed put in the quieter positioned room for my little girl and could we have this room...to this was told very sharply we are not going to do that...this got my back up a little I said if I'm paying $200 per night this is surely not to big a request..to this was told we are cancelling your booking and she hung up....unbelievable never come across such bad service
I'm sure a response will come to my feedback as I've noticed to other bad reviews on this motel I also bet it will blame me and it will be aggressive just like the feed back to others and the way I was dealt with
I would stay clear of this one

Dear Reo Smith, as discussed when you rang back later that night to continue to complain. You spoke with me and I informed you that you had really upset my wife with the tone that you used on the phone and did not want to adhere to our booking policies, she took strong offense to your tone and lack of respect for our business booking policies. On top of this you were making a last minute booking in the middle of high season you asked if we would move beds from opposite sides of the motel which no one has ever asked us such a request especially when they make a booking so last minute. Then to go on to threaten to write a bad review if you don't get your way, sorry Reo but as humans we don't accept this treatment just as you would not like to be treated this way in your workplace. Hospitality staff communicate to many people everyday and sometimes what can seem unoffensive can very well be so and that works both ways. But threating to write bad reviews and then going on to do so well that is up to you, unfortunately it is only hospitality that gets this online treatment. We get great feed back everyday and through out the year as stated on many different guest review sites and in person on check out also. We are sorry to hear that you have been upset by our service and wish you all the best.

Lovely clean unit to a point. Spa bath filter needs cleaning (if you can do that) quiet unit but for the price of $325 per night was a bit rich for 2 adults and 1 child. I understand that the area was booked out but still for a 2 night stay it was expensive for what it was. Pool was used and so was playground one happy entertained child. Would have been nice to have been given wifi password on check in too.

Very friendly and helpful staff. Our room was beautifully layed out and spotless, with everything we needed. Will definitely be staying there again and would be more than happy to recommend it to anyone, 10 out of 10 from me, a person who is very fussy!

We booked two one bedroom rooms which were very spacious.
Check-in easy and owners lovely, friendly, exceptionally helpful.
Great selection of coffee and tea provided and generous supply of milk.
Easy access into Tauranga main and the owner's suggestions for eating places were spot on.
Large shopping complex within walking distance also.

We had one overseas visitor who booked a 2 bed suite and on entering said "Wow this is like a house!" so it's pleasing that you found your unit spacious. Jacqui and I feel that a smile and a warm greeting is the first thing to offer you as our guests and we prefer friendly atmospheres.

We stayed in a 2 bedroom suite.
I thought this place was a little gem-spacious-huge bathroom-spotlessly clean-great facilities-electric blankets were so welcome. I thought the beds were really comfortable. Best nights sleep on our trip and much better than any travel inn/lodge in UK( and cheaper!)
