Initial impressions: From road a long drive through well-manicured grounds to the hotel complex, which had a definite Mediterranean feel to it. The small pool that hugged the building between the parking area and the entrance looked rather unkempt and let the place down. Met by Gunther, the proprietor, who couldn’t have been more helpful, who checked us in and showed us to our room. The room was large, light and airy and had a nice view over the grounds. Cooking facilities were a little limited but adequate for a one night stay with eating out in the evening. Bed was comfortable and the en suite facilities were good. Weren’t sure what to expect for breakfast, which was included in the price. However we needn’t have worried as the breakfast was superb. We particularly liked the little extras provided by Gunther. Altogether a very pleasant stay. Shame it up for sale. Some developer is going to make a killing.…
Asa family of 29 we rented the whole property and yes First Impression when you drive down looked amazing! When we arrived the grumpy owner was waiting for us and wanted to show us where the recycling bins first without even a Welcome😡 Next he took us upstairs and started with the house rules lights that apparently blow if they are kept on to long and still NO WELCOME! The first thing I noticed was the heat inside the house and asked could he put on the Aircon and he said sure it's the natural air that comes through the windows 😣 We stayed 4 nights and thought that we would all have fresh towels each day and rooms serviced at least! Sadly nope that was not the case. We asked if he had a laundry and I would be happy to wash our towels and he said sure @ $15 a load wth really??? Well of course we needed clean towels each day as we had little ones so we went down to a local laundry! I can't believe we had to pay a $200 cash bond to use the games room! All and All Gunter for your appalling Attitude and Poor service our family had a great time just being together! I would never recommend this holiday retreat to anyone as it was a total RIPOFF😡 You should update your website as it is all a lie and feel sorry for your wife because she seemed really nice for a unhappy Grumpy Man you are!!!!! …
We rented the entire resort for four days as our daughter was getting married at Mills Reef. We had up to 25 family and friends staying aged from babies to our elderly mother. The size of the rooms and bathrooms was great for the bridal party getting ready and the large lounge, dining, kitchen area was fantastic for our big party. Gunter and Claudette were welcoming and let us know how to get them if we needed and then left us to enjoy our time there. We would certainly return if we needed to be in Tauranga again and needed a large place to stay.
Although we never rented the place, the experience we had with the owner was terrible. Be careful when booking and make sure you go and view the place before you book as the photos do not reflect the actual condition of the place, which we found out when we went and looked at it. We had to cancel our booking due to unforeseen circumstances and even though it was almost 6 months out from the booking date the owner kept 20% of the total cost. Almost $1000 which is ridiculous considering he still has almost 6 months to make another booking. Tauranga is a beautiful place filled with amazing people but unfortunately this place and owner is not one of them - just looking to make money without any thought to others.
This hotel was a total nightmare, worse place we have ever stayed,it was advertised as luxury hotel, when we arrived it was hard to find, with no signs, far away from anything, The Asian lady owner looked at us like we were going to steal something and asked for our car reg straight away, she asked us what time we wanted to go for breakfast, she offered 8.30am or 9 am, we said 9 am, she was very fake and took us to our room up a huge flight of stairs, no lifts, the room was crammed with tacky gold furniture, cheap bed covers, cheap jug that didn't turn off and the smallest tv,towels were old and cheap,I was so disappointed, I had paid $280 for 2 nights to stay in this 1 room with not even any milk, there was half a toilet roll and 3 tea bags, sleeping there the night was terrible, the bed was hard as rock, the pillows hard and flat, and the room was SO hot we could hardly breath, getting up in the morning (with a sore back) we went into breakfast at 8,50 am to be yelled at by the German owner that we were late, and to come earlier next time, we were shocked and should have mentioned his wife asked the time and we came early! but we were taken back, I said the bed was hard and room was hot and did he have another room we could have or could we have our money back for the following night and leave today? he said NO you cant have your money for the next night and it was the first time in 9 years they had ever had anyone complain, he went on and on with his wife backing him up,which is total rubbish because I should have said 2 words,TRIP ADVISER. we just stood and felt awkward and said nothing, clearly he was a crazy bad tempered lunatic, what was supposed to be a break away was turning into a horrible experience, the breakfast was greasy and cheap, they went on about all the imported cakes and breakfast items, they stayed and watched us eat, it was extremely uncomfortable, I wanted to leave then and just lose that days money and get out of there, but my husband said lets stay the night we have paid for it and we are not in the room much being out looking out at Tauranga when we left to go out i said to the wife I didn't want the room coming into as we had our personal items out but when we came back she had been in the room and touched everything! but not left another toilet roll or tea bags, I could not be bothered argueing with her also scared of her crazy husband.. but that night was awful, it was 7 degrees outside but we were baking hot with all the windows open and no blankets on, we called them and asked to turn down the heating to be told it was off !!!!! I was scared to sleep that night, every noise outside I thought the crazy owner was going to charge in with a chainsaw and chop us up,when we awoke ( with even sorer backs) I refused to go to breakfast, they can keep their rotten greasy rubbish for some other poor victims and I got out of there as quickly as possible.its a awful terrible place, stay away.…
I made reservations to stay here because it was near Tauranga and Matamata. We arrived to a darkened building, but the owner came to the door when we approached. It felt very strange to be the only customers, but it was June (winter in NZ) and dark at 5pm (17:00). The room and bathroom were very spacious, and the TV had many channels. We asked the owner to recommend a fish & chips takeaway, and he recommended a great place that was very generous, tasty, and inexpensive. The owner informed us that breakfast would be at 8:00, but we informed him that we would be leaving at 8am. Without hesitation, he offered to have breakfast ready at 7:45. The breakfast included fruit, cereal, juice, eggs, sausage, bacon, toast, jam, and a lemoncello dessert. As we left in the morning, we noticed the nicely-kept grounds. If we return to Tauranga, we will stay there again.…
We were really looking forward to our "chalet". We arrived a couple of hours early only to be told to go away and come back after 2. (We were only going to ask to drop our bags there as we were heading to mt manganui and couldn't see out of our back window due to the luggage). We returned after 2 and omg.....the 2 bedroom chalet was one bedroom and a pull out sofa in the only living area. You definitely could not swing a cat in here. The bathroom was clean as was the rest of the chalet. A "resort" is not the word I would chose. The bbq area is very run down. There was no restaurant. The games/gym room was pretty good.
Oh dear. Tonight we are in a genuine 2 bedroom apartment, ie two bedrooms plus living. The two bedroom chalet that we were so looking forward to (and paid almost $400 for) was a bedroom plus a small living dining kitchen that had a single bed squished in next to the table. What is called a chalet we call a dongs, a demountable hut. Expensive for what you get, very expensive. A dream gone awry. Miles from town, a good 10 minute drive so if you imagine yourself taking nice beach or lake walks without getting the car out forget it. If you're trying to find it in the dark there are no street lights and light over the sign at the front. Not even milk was provided. The host a little scary but I felt sorry for him too so we didn't bother asking for anything. Hot and stuffy, no fan, no screens on doors or windows. We opened our windows because it became so stuffy and soon the room was filled with flies and other insects. The poor people have probably run short of money as things are very run down and the pool in which we'd hoped to swim is not a goer. The cups and plates are chipped. There are no top sheets on the beds. No reading lamps. I'm trying to remember what sucked us in to actually book it in the first place! The wifi is patchy. There are it says on the website wonderful views of Tauranga Harbour, but that must be from the roof. Do yourself a favor and go somewhere actually in Tauranga, The office is locked up and it's dark so you can't ask a question or get any assistance. Appalling really!…
The Mediterranean Resort is set in substantial and very well kept grounds. Our room was very well sized and fitted out beautifully. The bathroom was excellent with "his" and "her's" washbasins and a really good shower. The hot water system is an advert for solar heating! This is an example of how scant hotel booking sites are with their info and not, in this case, doing it justice. Breakfast was served in a very spacious room, fitted out in the same style as the bedroom, and prepared in a purpose built facility adjacent to the breakfast room. Ten out of ten for breakfast. We would happily stay again. Tip - make sure you print off a location map.
Is definately out of town and have to drive anywhere for dinner and beach. Rooms are not infant friendly. No cots supplied. Rooms are terribly warm and not ventilated well. Breakfast included in price which was nice. Pool not very clean and definately property needs a good makeover for the prices charged. Managers friendly enough. Free wifi is available. Probably wouldn't stay again.
