I noted peoples comments before staying here but found the staff to be friendly and helpful. Yes the rooms need updating and service is not 5 star but is not advertised at that. Rooms are cleaned and fresh towels supplied. If you want 5 star go pay for it. I believe this motel is being reviewed unfairly and is what I would expect for what we were charged. We have been charged a lot more in other cities for a motel with less comfort than this one. We actually use it regularly now.

The room I am in is worn and needing a renovation but all in all for what it is I was happy with the motel.
Rooms were reasonably clean and serviced daily and the proprietors are friendly and helpful.

Would recommend for budget accommodation.

Very disappointing. Advertised as a serviced motel staying 3 nights and still not serviced. Duvets looked dirty and badly mismatched. Cutlery and crockery were greasey and Cutlery badly mismatched. Wines glasses, what wine glasses. 1 sherry glass, 2 champagne flutes and 1 small possibly a wine glass. Have stayed here several times but this is the last. $150 per night for 3 people in a so called 4 star plus motel. Absolutely no way more like a 2.5 -
3 star .

Combined with the RSA the Greerton Lodge Motel is an ideal place to stay. We were a large group of seniors staying for dinner bed and breakfast. Excellent meals, excellent facilities, at reasonable cost.

Where to start? We booked for two nights (30 & 31 December so peak time) and paid a deposit over two months prior to travel, but despite sending us a receipt for that deposit they called to ask us to confirm our booking as they had no record of the deposit.
When we arrived at 7pm we discovered that our room wasn't ready for us and that a put-up bed had to be put into the small studio room for our 15 year old son. This despite asking for a one bedroom unit when we booked. The "king bed" we had turned out to be two singles pushed together - not normally a problem except they were different heights!
The very young woman in charge tried to charge us for a different room, which my husband queried and had corrected, but then she tried to charge us for the night we had already paid as a deposit! She didn't give us a room key - we had to go and ask for one, and she didn't give us a towel for my son - we had to go to the office for that too.
The room was noisy and the service was appalling. We found out that the young woman in charge was in fact the niece of the manager, who had chosen the busiest time of the year to take a holiday. She was not able to cope and should never have been left alone to do so.
We have used this motel in the past, but our Christmas holdiay was soured by this portion of the trip and we will never stay there again. If it hadn't been New Years Eve and incredibly busy in Tauranga I would have demanded my money back and gone elsewhere.

When we first checked into this motel we were extremely happy with the service. We were able to get a room with enough beds for the five of us and the manager was very accommodating. That night we ended up having a few drinks and playing some music. We weren't aware that we were being too loud until the manager's wife showed up in our doorway and started yelling at us like we were children. She threatened to kick us out if she heard one more peep from our room. We agreed that we would be quiet, but she continued to chastise us. I understand that we may have been too loud, but that is why she should have given us a warning before coming in with guns blazing. She then returned 10 minutes later just to yell at us some more even though we complied fully with her request. It was not professional at all. The five of us are teachers in our mid 20s and are very respectful people, which is why this upset us so much. In the morning she returned and was friendly at the start, then she demanded that we go next door and apologize. Once again, treating us like we're children. When we brought up the fact that she was unprofessional the night before she began to chastise us once again for how disrespectful we were even though we were quiet when she asked. This could've been a great experience at this motel, but instead, because of this woman's lack of professionalism, it left a very sour memory of Tauranga. There are many other motels and hostels in the area, so I would suggest trying them out first.

Response from JannaDale, General Manager at Greerton Lodge Motel
Responded 26 Jan 2014
Hi there, These 5 people had been drinking in the unit & were so loud that a neighbor 2 houses away rang me to complain about the noise. No answer from the front door so I went around the back,.The music was indeed very loud, very disrespectful when I asked them to turn it down, they certainly didn't like been told off. I don't like to argue with drunks(1 girl was asleep with her head on the table) but I have other customers to think about...I was just walking back to my office when the lady next to their unit voiced her concern, she didn't feel safe so I assured her the Police are only 2-3 mins away if needed. I then went back to the loud ones & told them about the lady's concern. (I don't think they believed me, they probably thought I was picking on them). Sorry I don't know any professional way of dealing with drunks, other than ringing the Police if necessary. These young teachers have no respect for others & I thank God they won't be teaching my children. Regards Janna

This stay was to visit a family member. My grandmother had booked the room for a week, and asked if it was ok that one night her daughter and grandaughter (myself) come stay to vist family. Upon arrival, both my mother and grandmother were out and told me to pick up a key. No hassels here as a key was handed over. The room was neat and tidy, serviced offen. Ok the place has not been modify'd but this is reflective in the price.
My 2yo son also stayed and he ran around out the back safley.
Overall, we recived great service, My grandmother is happy with the room and location.
I would recomend this motel to all my friends.

Booked a one bedroom to find their definition is a double bed in lounge, not actual BEDROOM. Rooms dated and given very poor service. Not the first time we have stayed and will never go back. Walked out and found a lovely motel

Not very impressed with this accommodation. The rooms badly need renovating and the kitchen and facilities were terrible. The bed duvets were disgustingly dirty and so were the arm chairs. The carpet was also dirty.

Owners very pleasant, friendly and helpful. However the location of this lodge is an insurmountable problem. Cameron road is exceptionally noisy and the rooms on the front are right on the road. The bed in my room was horrendous! The corner was obviously the place everyone sits to watch the TV and the corner is so damaged there is a huge dip in it. The room I had was absolutely nothing like the photo supplied my room was old and very tired. But it did have a revamped bathroom which was lovely. Cleanliness was very good but if you have asthma or breathing problems check room first. The rooms had been sprayed with freshener or something which was overwhelming and made the room very uncomfortable.
Tauranga is overly expensive and this was the cheapest place I could find and for that reason I would stay again BUT I would check the bed next time.
