I checked my bank balance a week after staying one night to find that more money had been taken out from the Lakefront Lodge. When I emailed them, I was told that it was a charge for a towel and a surcharge! We didn't take any towels! Not sure what the surcharge is as no one is replying to my emails. You would think that I would have been notified of the extra taken out of my bank. Place was clean but bed was awful. Definitely won't stay there again as they can't be trusted.
People returning from town late treated the courtyard of this hotel like an extension of the pub. Ya-hoos, constant loud talking and even a speaker playing music. Half the hotel’s rooms surround this central courtyard. Non-stop 11pm-6am no joke. Impossible to sleep through it. I almost left to drive home in the middle of the night. Such a shame there is no management of the noise as otherwise the place is great.
I will never ever stay at this Lodge again, nor would I recommend it. When I called to book I advised the receptionist that I was partially disabled and required a walking frame, and therefore could not manage stairs. She assured me that I would have elevator access to the 1st floor where my room would be located. My husband and I arrived on Christmas Eve to stay 2 nights. Unfortunately when we returned to the Lodge on Christmas Day at 4pm from our lunch we found we were locked outside. A lady appeared and introduced herself as “Management”. She told me she had given the staff the day off and I was to go around the back and use the stairs. When I explained to her about my disability preventing me to use the stairs she rudely told me that if I’d told them about my disability they would have written it in the book, and also told me to book elsewhere. She then went to walk away. When I asked if I was expected to stay outside all night, she reluctantly used her keys to open the front door so I could access the lift. Another 2 guests, who were both using walking sticks, had also arrived just in time to be let inside. This was totally unacceptable and discriminatory towards myself and the other disabled guests. The “Management” woman was rude and dismissive. It was Christmas Day and I felt so hurt by this disrespectful behaviour. And to top it off...there was no air conditioning. Plus our original room’s toilet didn’t work so we had to pack up and move to another room after we had already unpacked. It was a very unpleasant expensive experience.…
Stayed here for 2 nights, found the rooms comfortable and pleasant, although hot, being the middle of summer and lacking in at conditioning. The attached restaurant served great food in a lovely location, for both a dinner and a breakfast that we had there. Excellent service, from both staff at the desk and particularly our wonderful and charismatic waiter. Good distance to town, made for a quick drive, and being so close to the beach was great. Would recommend, especially for its service.
We had a small room which was clean and all we needed for the night. The pool was small and lovely to refresh yourself after a drive. Our issues were overnight when other guests were playing music from 2am to 4am we rang reception but no answer and were informed upon checkout that alternative numbers were needed to contact overnight staff.
