3 couples booked individual rooms.
We were put in the one suitable for persons with disability although neither of us are disabled.

The room was dark and shabby. Brown dark old carpet and old fashioned gold curtains. Old worn dark brown sofa.
Walls and doors old battered all need replacing or painting.

Wet room clean but cheap thin shower curtain that kept wanting to stick to You a nice browny pattern, ugh !

Kitchen area clean. Microwave

Bedroom small
One cheap double bed with cheap non supporting mattress. ONE side table at one side of bed.
Carpet same old dark brown needing vacuuming as collection of dust

Apparently these each unit is individually owned the complex. Just make sure you do not get booked into this one.
Our friends had lovely modern bright clean units.

No 238 owners don’t care and just take your money for substandard unit.

Positives:
lovely welcoming, helpful and accommodating
staff.
Towels & Linen fresh and clean
Fresh Milk for tea.
Good toiletries.
Undercover parking
Near lake front and a Pub.

If you're looking for the Waldorf, this is not the place for you but if you are looking for very reasonably priced, well maintained and very conveniently located accommodation, I highly recommend this place. Our room was on the ground floor and therefore subject to some passing foot traffic. Also the security lighting stays on til 10pm so if you want an early night it might be slightly problematic for you, however for the one night we hit the hay early my partner and I didn't find it at all disruptive, besides if you are that tired that you need an early night, it probably means you had an exhausting day doing one of the many activities to be found in Taupo. All in all a very pleasant experience

My family and I stayed 6th 7th Feb 2021 in unit 14 1 bedroom family unit downstairs
My first reaction walking into unit looked inviting beds allmade up nicely. When checking out shower door was half off and very dirty couldnt see into shower.
Dining roomtable and chairs very uncomfortable and they were actually an outside set. Kitchen cupboards needed upgrading as to the whole of the unit. I think after a good make over andclean would be very inviting. Enjoyed meal next door at the Pub . Also could do with a new toaster. Very dirty inside Found very hard to sleep as very hot in room

This is a clean, well equipped, refurbished unit which is well located on the waterfront about 10 minutes easy walk to Taupo Central and all amenities. The receptionist was friendly and helpful. Between Christmas and new year this was a moderately priced unit and in all regards for us good value.

Horrible room.
Nothing like the photos we saw on hotel.com
The photos on Hotels.com show nice bedding and furnishings
Very dated, shabby furniture
Poor the price of the room we expected way better.
Only been here half an hour and can't wait to leave!Paid for upstairs room with view.
Spoke to person on reception and they were apologetic. Couldn't move us to a different room as it's a busy weekend.
Said all the rooms are the same but they are not...we had a look along the row.
Avoid room 822!
First three photos are actual room.

Booked for two nights and charged $797 for 3 people so expecting something half decent, how wrong was I. Paint peeling, stained bench and table, no extraction fan in bathroom, Shower had a step up into it of around 300 mm, One of our party is disabled and had to be helped in and out of the shower, Door to bedroom could not be shut as one of the beds in the room was protuding past the door way. Doors and windows rattled in the wind. For the money I would have expected the room to be fully serviced after the first night but no only fresh towels tossed onto the bathroom sink. TV reception also third world. When I spoke to the manager he told me $40,000 had been spent on the room two months ago and he will speak to the owner about it. To top it off the car parks are so small that passengers have to disembark first when cars on either side and driver has to squeeze out. Definitely not on our return to list.

Unfortunately the pictures are a poor representation of what the actual accomodation is like. The floor was dirty, stained and desperately needed a vacuum (which meant I couldn’t let my infant crawl on the ground and I didn’t want to walk barefoot in the room or bathroom). The door handles were sticky (yuk!) as was the kitchen utensils and cutlery. The wifi was basically nonexistent! Room was covered in cobwebs, spiders and mozzies. The walls had paint missing and markings all over it. Honestly the place needs an entire renovation (it was not good value for money) and I didn’t feel safe going out in the car park at night. Not a good place for families! Do not recommend!!!

The only positive thing here is that it was clean BUT dreadfully disappointing in all other aspects. There was mould on the ceiling in the bathroom. The bathroom door didn't shut because it had swollen from moisture. The bathroom itself was in a state of disrepair and looked like it had been patched by a child. The noise from other guests during the night was loud and disruptive. My allocated carpark had been taken by another guest. The iron was filthy and left a mark on a blouse.
To add insult to injury a one bedroom 'apartment' with two single beds and a double, was a whopping $200. Given that a 4-5 star hotel charges only a little more than this, I fail to see how the price can be justified.
I will NEVER go back.

This place needs a good makeover. Soon as we arrived I noticed the electric heater was missing the side panels which had exposed cables where my 2 year old would have died if he touched them. Had to locate the switchboard and turn the circuit breaker off. Lights in kitchen didn’t even go. Bathroom fan sounded like it was going to take off to space, shower door didn’t close so every time you had a shower you flooded the bathroom. No room service just had a bag dumped at our door with towels in it. The whole room smelt like a butchery. Would never stay here again. Unsure how they justify the price on their rooms. Only place side was it’s an easy walk to town!.
