Te Moenga Lodge is a special place to stay located above Acacia Bay, Lake Taupo. Following extensive renovations, the lodge opened to guests in January 2016 with new owners and hosts, Phil and Cheryl London. The lodge accommodation provides two very different levels of bed and breakfast accommodation; private stand-alone chalets with stunning lake views or studio rooms with their own access and ensuite bathrooms. Our accommodation is suitable for weekend travellers, couples on a getaway, tri-athletes, cyclists, skiers, right through to families who want somewhere to base themselves and explore. We have ample secure parking/storage for all your toys! We aim to provide our guests with a feeling like this is your home away from home and the views really are something to behold. So whether you're looking to unwind for the weekend or seeking adventure with the family, Te Moenga Lodge is a fine choice. We welcome you to our home.

Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Recently stayed here with my Husband for a two night stay. Cheryl & Phil were such lovely and friendly Hosts, along with their gorgeous dogs. Our Chalet was gorgeous and so comfortable, had everything and more that you would need. So peaceful & tranquil, amazing breakfast! The views were stunning. Spa pool was so nice to have at the end of the day. Would highly recommend if you just want to relax and enjoy nature, but also plenty of activities close by to do as well.

Our stay with Cheryl and Phil was absolutely wonderful. Even before our visit, they responded to our email about the best way to get to Orakei Korako and, during our stay, they offered helpful suggestions for making the most of our visit to the area. They were the perfect hosts, making certain we had everything we needed and were well-fed. The view from our well-appointed and comfortable chalet was amazing. We could not have asked for a better place to stay or better hosts.

We were so lucky to have found Te Moenga Lodge and to have stayed in the Kowhai Chalet for two fantastic weeks. Our hosts Cheryl and Phil could not have been more friendly and accommodating and we were made to feel like one of the family. The chalet and facilities were outstanding and the views to die for. The pool, hot tub and BBQ were very welcome additions. Even though our stay was over six months ago, we are still recovering from the extensive breakfasts delivered to our chalet! This is somewhere not to be missed on a visit to the Taupo area. We cannot wait to return in early 2020. Cheryl and Phil - please forgive us for the delay in writing this review.

My husband and I recently visited for 1 night on our way to a wedding in Auckland. We wish we had stayed longer. It was a beautiful setting with lovely hosts. We decided to self cater because the evening view was stunning. It couldn't be beaten! We would highly recommend this B&B and hope to visit from the UK in the future.

We stayed 2 nights in the Tauhara Chalet and wished it could have been more. It is set high on the hillside so the view over the lake to Taupo and beyond is stunning. The chalet felt quite luxurious, it was modern, very spacious, lovely big bathroom and large comfy bed. The lounge had plenty of seating and a 6 seater dining table. A substantial continental breakfast was bought to our room in the morning with plenty of choices. We had our own BBQ to use so could cook for ourselves which made a nice change from eating out every night. There was a swimming pool and hot tub for guests use too, again with the most beautiful view. Our hosts were most welcoming and helpful and we would love to stay here again if we come back to New Zealand.

We stayed here for 3 nights in a lodge to sleep us 3 ladies. The lodge was spacious, clean with lovely decor and furnishings. The view from our patio was stunning, the gardens, the sound of the birds and the view of the lake and beyond. Phil and Cheryl are lovely hosts very attentive and informative about the area. We opted for breakfast which was more than enough and tasty. If you have been travelling for a while I would strongly recommend a stay at Te Moenga to recharge and unwind. There is a pool, a hot tub, sunbathing area and within the lodge facilities to eat in and continue to enjoy the views. Thank you Phil and Cheryl for sharing you home, would love to make it back one day

Te Moenga impresses from the moment one approaches up the tree lined driveway, past vast sweeping lawns and informal colourful gardens. Hosts Cheryl & Philip warmly welcome you to their unique slice of the world where stunning views of Lake Taupo are quite magnificent whatever it's mood. The accommodation is luxurious and comfortable, with many touches of individuality. The facilities are many but the highlight is the peacefulness that pervades the atmosphere, the birdlife, the light of the everchanging sky and the deep sleep of a night time. After several visits, it's top of my list!
