We spent two nights at the Suncourt Hotel. Our room was spacious and very comfortable. The location is perfect as it is opposite the lake and only a short walk into town. The staff were all very helpful and friendly. A very minor negative was that we had no toilet paper or milk on the second day of our stay, this was quickly sorted out by the staff. The main window in our room had black out curtains but right opposite the bed was a small window with a useless blind that did not keep any light out. This is not a major, just annoying.

My main disappointment with my room was that there were absolutely no toiletries. I did not complain or ask for any as there was no spot where they obviously would have been. Fortunately I by chance had some with me.
The sliding door to the wee deck looking out to the lake was locked. There were no instructions on how to open it. A coffee out there watching the sun rise would have been lovely.
Not only were there no toiletries but I was phoned by someone from the hotel accusing me of having taken them with me. I assured them that I had not as there weren’t any there to start with. I was told they would check it out and come back to me. I’m still waiting for the apology.
Shame because I would have gone back again and recommended them but I cannot recommend a place that contacts their guests with random accusations over disposable toiletries that I would have paid for in my not so cheap accommodation.

We are sorry to find out via email and this review that there were no toiletries in your room. This is unusual and if we had known we would have delivered toiletries to your room immediately. We appreciate this must have been an inconvenience for you. Our reception team followed our process by contacting the guest when these products are not in the room on departure (which are part of our sustainability initiative, where these bottles are refilled after each departure). Some guests take these refillable bottles unknowingly thinking they are complimentary. In your situation our receptionist checked with you and listened to your explanation and there has been no charge against your reservation.

Our stay at the Taupo Suncourt was a wonderful experience from the moment we arrived at reception to checking out 2 days later. The unit was on the first floor and had everything we needed to make our stay enjoyable. A large sliding glass doors looked out directly over the lake with snow capped Mt.Ruapehu in the distance. The customer service was 1st class and we thank the Management and staff for making our stay a memorable experience.

Central location walking distance to everything, clean rooms and nice view. Onsite restaurant is very good with nice views, good menu only complaint is eye fillet medium rare instead of medium, Cheese board was very good. Staff very professional. I would definitely stay here again.

Great service from checkin to checkout. Clean, had everything we need. And Lake Bistro is awesome too.
Power points everywhere you wouldn't have trouble charging multiple devices at once, we haven't been in a hotel with so much power plugs lol!
4 as the bed was too firm for us.

Have stayed at this Hotel every Auckland Anniversary Weekend with a large group (6-10 units) for the past seven years. The units are clean and well located. The price is a little high but it is a busy weekend so you have expect to pay a premium. Where this place lets its self down is the way they handle bookings. In sorts its appalling, every year its a battle to know whats going on. Last year was a major battle just to get them to confirm our units, this year they apologized for last years muck up and took all of our groups e-mails with commitment to sort our bookings for next year this week. Yesterday we all received an email telling us to go else where as they have been booked out for a International Sporting Event... These things happen but they would have been fully aware of this at the time of our checkout where they took our emails and just used it as a way of not having to tell us face to face.. Very Poor..

Friendly staff on check in; we had a trainee who was under the supervision of someone else, but he was friendly and courteous. The room was clean, with some basic cups and glasses, but not much in the way of other facilities. The outside area was nice with comfortable seaing to watch people moving around as it was a public holiday and quite busy. Noisy neighbours with a young child spoilt this trip for us as they did very little to consider all of the other guests staying at the hotel.

Thankyou so much for making our second stay just perfect. We first stayed earlier this year and had a few problems with the room. After we told them about it they offered us a free night in one of their best rooms . This room was amazing wonderful views of the lake, a beautiful free standing bath and really comfy bed. They went out of their way to make sure we had a great stay and apologised for the original problem. We would not hesitate to come back and stay again and recomend this place to everyone

We stayed in a lake view room over the Queen's birthday weekend. This hotel has a great location. It is not right in front of the main road but close enough to still have the views of the lake. It's good because then you won't hear the cars passing by. It is also very close, walking distance even, to the restaurants. The room is warm and clean. Bathroom very spacious. WIFI ok. We'll be happy to stay here again if we return to Taupo.

Amazing location and customer service! I arrived approx 1900hrs and staff were very accommodating to me and answered my every question. Made me feel very welcomed. Room had a spectacular view of the lake to wake up to.
