We were travelling with our dog, so this was a great find - a pet friendly motel. We let them know in advance that we would have our dog with us and they were able to send us their one-pager that had sensible regulations for someone staying with a dog. It was only $20 extra to have the dog stay with us. Our dog sleeps in a crate anyway, so the room they gave us, which had a kitchenette area was perfect. The location of the motel is excellent, right on the lake front so it was a lovely walk to take in the evening and in the morning. The bed was comfy, we slept really well and the room was very clean. The shower had great water pressure and the kitchenette was well set up. The owners/managers were so friendly and accommodating. We will certainly try and stay here again next time we pass through Taupo.

2nd time we have stayed in No:1 two story, lake front unit.just like your own lakefront house...we are a couple holidaying with our Yorkie, Mac. We just love relaxing here. Looking out over the lake, through the wide windows, sitting at the large outside dinning setting or enjoying a GnT/wine, late afternoon on the small table and armchairs, right out front. The gardens with tui's, thrush are here too, there's people passing below on the board walk and of course the water life, ducks and black swans. Try a dip it's fun and easy. Short walk to the two Mile bay yacht club for an excellent coffee, scone and wonderful views.Licensed and pizzas at night. Then there's Taupo shopping, cafes and restaurants. Try the small Thai restaurant 'Siam Thai Street Food cafe' on 22 Huehue St, for lunch dinner, takeaways..reasonably priced, authentic... delicious. Special occasion, try the Bantry on 45 Riffle Range Road. Consistently high standards in both food and staff. Relaxed, smart casual dress. You'll be looked after like a local. We'll be back to Cascades... See you soon Silas. Thankyou

We arrived with a group of 20 golfers to enjoy the local courses. The staff at Cascades could not have been more helpful. They went out of their way to organise barbecues and seating for the large team barbecue. We had one evening. Management were very knowledgeable about where to go and the perfect personalities to be in this industry. They wanted our business and they will get it again 100%.

Our ground floor studio was seriously tired and should have been refurbished 20 years ago. The miss matched curtains (combination of verticals, sheers, shower curtain material and poorly hung ready mades), a cracked shower housing creepy crawlies, cobwebs in the bathroom, light fittings peppered with fly dirt and general inattention to cleaning didn’t make it a pleasurable stay. On the positive side the kitchen was well equipped and the fridge/freezer whisper quiet.

Thanks for your review! We have been keeping the refurbishment for each room, before the peak season coming, we installed the air conditional for all units, and installed SKY TV Decoder for all units and subscribed all the SKY Sports and SKY Movie Channels, replaced the carpet, replaced new floor in your bathroom, replace some cook facilities and fridges. Today we just replaced the curtains for your units, and next week we will start the painting job. We can't finish all the jobs in one day, hope next time you will find the difference, cheers!

We could fault the service. The motel itself is in need of an upgrade. Very basic amenities, outside areas need cleaning, lots of cobwebs. The bed was comfortable but room was very tired but clean. Our first night was horrendous as a group of guests stayed in the pool all night and decided to let off fire works at three in the morning. Something that I thought the management would have put a stop to. Don't think we will go back. For the price it was average, and we did not get to experience all the facilities so it may well do for customers wanting cheap and cheerful accommodation for a short stopover.

The room we checked in to presented very dirty on arrival. The curtains had dirt all over them. The glasses had dust all through them. There were lipstick smudged marks all over the mirrors in room. Also we had payed for laundry to be washed when picked up they were dripping wet and had not gone through full cycle baring in mind we had payed for them to be washed. When we approached owners for refund only minutes after we had booked in after experiencing the room being in such a state and decided we did not want to stay in a dirty room, both owners had very poor attitudes towards my partner and I. Definitely will not be back also do not recommend this place to stay!

Location and staff are great. Needs investments in upgrading facilities...eg. room required a repaint, new large bed mattress needed, new carpets, outdoor courtyard needs to be tidied up. I would stay again if improvements were made.

From the moment that we arrived at the motel we felt at home with a warm greeting and a spotless, spacious and stylishly furnished unit by the lake. We loved the fact that the unit was a stone's throw from the Lake yet our unit was private and quiet. I enjoyed the spa bath and loved being able to walk on the walk/cycle trail along the Lake. We also loved the outdoor courtyard from where we had a peep of the Lake. We had a very positive, relaxing and enjoyable experience. I loved that it was spotlessly clean and room service cleaned each day: what a treat :) Very friendly and helpful hosts which made the whole place have a lovely feel good atmostphere :)

At the last minute I needed a room that could also accommodate my dog before we flew into the bush the next day. I rang and spoke to Silas who was incredibly helpful and booked the room then and there. On arrival Silas showed us the room and then walked us down to the waterfront to point out a dog friendly bar and restaurant just a stones throw along the beach. The beds were comfy, the room was spacious, I noticed they even provided bubble bath if you like that sort of thing. All in all a very happy experience. I have already booked for my next trip in a couple of weeks.

I stayed at Cascades motel last weekend, and had a very comfortable and pleasant stay. We had a family apartment for four of us. The room was very clean well appointed and had comfy beds. It was a busy weekend for Taupo as the Ironman event was being held. The Management and Staff were very helpful and courteous and made us feel welcome even though they were very busy. The motel was peaceful yet the whole town was crowded and pumping with visitors and locals coming to support the Ironman event. Such a fantastic location at Cascades with private access to the beach and some rooms having fabulous views of Lake Taupo. We had a private outdoor area right on the beach path access just 3/4 meteres from beach, just perfect. Nothing was too much for the Management and team, who assisted me with a microwave in our unit that was not working. The Manager came right away and offered to reheat our food for us, and shortly after the hoot food was returned to us, and a replacement microwave was installed in our unit. Thank you so much for a lovely stay and we highly recommend to anyone to stay here at Cascades
