A lovely relaxed setting. Complex is very spacious and just what we love. Pools were great fun being open until late at night. The staff were very friendly and made check in and check out easy. Rooms were reasonably priced but unfortunately the studio rooms are lacking some basic amenities. There is no cutlery or microwave, which was the only downside to our stay. Would definitely stay again.
Apart from its superb location and spacious site. Ideally located just a few kilometres outside the hustle and bustle of Taupo Town Centre, the Lake and that's all on offer; Wairakei Resort is the perfect retreat/holiday venue for us. 5 consecutive Xmas and New breaks and 5 consecutive Easter Breaks says it all. And future Xmas and Easter reservations made as far ahead as their booking system allows. It's called voting with one's feet... Just home from Easter 2022, with a couple of nights added on en route home to Kapiti. Well refreshed and rejuvenated. Fabulous Holiday. Accommodation, Service, Location and especially Food - second to nowhere. What really makes this place, our special place is the people who work there. At every level from the Hotel General Manager himself through to the chambermaids they are exceptional. Take immense Pride of their Hotel and epitomise the very best the Hospitality Industry is capable of offering. Thanks everyone, we look forward to our next return. Andrew Hanley…
Staff were amazing - Tayla on reception was very professional, welcoming and a great first impression! The hotel it self is a bit dated - however it does have character! Clean and tidy with plenty of ammenities. Grounds are lovely , breakfast buffet was perfect . Great experience and would stay again
This wasn't our first visit... it was good value for money (if you sign up to be a member buffet breakfast is included). Our kids loved the pools and the tennis. Interior is a bit tired and worn and when I asked for an extra pillow was told there weren't any which was surprising. So bring your own pillow, a good appetite and enjoy.
Stayed in the executive king villa and it was perfect for 2 nights away. Liked the setting and close to both pools. Got a great deal with free breakfast so reading the other reviews about breakfast was just happy to get breakfast even in a paper bag. We do know now what they meant because on day 1 of the stay, cold eggs benedict on stale muffins but day 2, bacon, scrambled eggs, sausages, hash browns and croissant plus the yoghurt, fresh fruit salad and juice and that was hot and really tasty. The resort is looking a bit tired on the outside but the deal was so good and we would stay there again. Joining as a member to get the free breakfast was also a good incentive. Next time, we will book the bikes or bring our own. So much more to do and see. Thanks to the resort for the keeping the 2 big pools hot and for great service.…
