The location of this hotel to the town is great, plus it pretty much overlooks Lake Taupo, which is a massive bonus.
The rooms are large, clean, well decorated, have all the amenities you need during your stay. Whilst a basic/standard hotel I would say it is good value for money.
The only small criticism is that it’s looking a little tired in places, especially outside, the pool area and drive ways.
I think if the owner spent some money decorating the outside, perhaps updating some things then this hotel would be a little gem overlooking this beautiful lake.
Would I stay again.....”Sure why not”.

Really well equipped little chalet which had lots of things in it which made a difference. Super soft towels, great pool area and jacuzzi and nice view over lake Taupo. A lady also washed a couple of pairs of trousers for my wife which was very kind of her.

The location of this Motel might be the main reason to stay there in the first place, and the location is great, very near to the town center and all the attractions there are. We also chose this Motel because of the location. However, we got a very nice and clean room with view of the lake and a comfortable bed. So if you want to stay in Taupo for a reasonable price give this Motel a try.

We were forced to book this room as one of the only available alternatives after a cyclone closed all roads leading to Hawke’s Bay. While the town of Taupo seems like a fun place for recreational activities (fishing, boating, cycling, IronMan competition, etc.), it generally seems to offer much better lodging than this property.
While the location was convenient, near the CBD and lake, the rooms and clientele left a lot to be desired. The walls were paper thin, the neighboring guests were loud and in general seemed sketchy. On the bright side, the room was clean and sanitary. Free on-site parking and swimming pool with above ground 6 person spa tub (neither of which were used by us). The seating area directly outside our sliding glass door was narrow and shared in common with all other adjoining rooms which provided zero privacy but abundant opportunities for second-hand smoke.
Not our first choice.

We are reasonably well travelled and look for 3 main things in a motel, location, cleanliness and friendly helpful staff. This place had 2 of the 3, the staff did the bare minimum at check in certainly nothing beyond that such as ideas what to do where to eat etc. Given key advise room was around the corner as was our car park at that was it. There were also a couple of issues with the room had trouble closing and locking the door and the shower didn't work properly both these were reported to Management.
Good location clean enough but they need to tidy up their customer service.

This is a big motel and occupies a large plot. I'm guessing it dates from the late 1970's judging on the design. I suspect little has changed since then. Good location to the town centre, easy walking distance makes this an obvious plus. Room was clean and basic.
Shower was knackered but kind of worked if you ignored the leaks (reported to reception) Our biggest gripe was the rock hard furniture in the lounge area. That was awful. You would have gained more comfort from an up turned beer crate than the stuff they provided. TV was tiny and was another one of those possessed motel TV's let alone the sketchy reception. Parking okay but if you value the rear end of your car I would skip the diagonal parking and park on the road like we did.

The motel is quite old but owners are definitely making an effort to make a few improvements. We stayed in a 2 floors apartment with 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms with views over both the lake and the pool. It was clean and had what we needed for the one night we spent in it.
Location is great for walking as it is lakefront and also very close to many restaurants and shops.
We though it was good value for money so might go back.

This was our first break away from Auckland since lockdown and the staff at the chalet really looked after us! It's crazy we felt like we were in a hotel in the Swiss alps with the epic view over Lake Taupo and those mountains. But just a couple of minutes away and we were loving the buzz of this awesome town. We had the cosiest night sleep and waking up to our view was insane... just the getaway we needed. Both receptionists gave us some great recommendations on things to do so we kept busy with local knowledge. Thank you we had a great time and we are now considering moving here!

Very clean and well appointed and Quiet. All self catering utensils an cooking appliances. Free WiFi, TV and heating/cooling. Parking was available inside the complex or close on the roadside. Host very amenable, allowed early check-in which was appreciated after long drive. WE would not hesitate to stay here again, or recommend to anyone.

Although the room description says airconditioned this only applies to the downstairs half of the room. It was too hot to sleap upstairs in the double bed so we ended downstairs in the single beds. Couldnkt have windows open due to bugs. Room clean and tidy, close to town.
