We chose the Oasis Motel as a trip down memory lane having stayed here 50 years ago on a family holiday back then it was one of the inovative new motels based on palm springs mid century architecture . Back in 1970 the facade was white with dark stained timber a great looking building unfortunately that has being painted over with a pukey mustard colour it looks run down and more a back packer look then a motel charging high prices We stayed in a one bedroom pool side unit that backed on to the main road the traffic noise is horrendous , our room was totally dated with what looks like the original wallpaper the sofa bed was nasty to sleep on there is a lot more i could say but we just won't be back , this is a true and honest review unlike some of the fantasy reviews i have read…
Thought the oasis was amazing and so underated! The pool was so warm and just genuinely a comfortable place. I would recommend to all travellers due to its convenience yet privacy/respect at the same time :)
Charming low-profile (figuratively and literally) 1960s-style resort. We scored a lakeside unit on one end of the row. Lake Taupo was at the back doorstep -- literally a stone's throw away (though you'd never throw a stone, as you'd may hit a duck or a black swan -- or, I guess, a human exercising). The lake is stunning; sublime. Way too cold to swim in, and the generator of howling winds (some of which whistle in through the windows), but awesome. Oasis is quite a way by foot to central Taupo, but isn't isolated like a cartoon oasis. It's a little tired, but the '60s gave it good bones like the band Oasis after their third album. We used the Grotto spa in the hotel next door, and loved the kitsch. We didn't have any neighbours to speak of, and I think if you did it would significantly impact your experience. Oasis worked well for our family this stay. Worthy of 3.5 stars if half stars were an option.…
Have stayed at the Oasis several times for work and always found it comfortable and clean. Although a little dated its fine for one or two nights, the pool and spa are great and you can order room service or charge back through the millennium next door. Definitely ask for a room with lakeview
Great place to stay. Clean, great heated pool. Right on the beach. You can order in room service from Manuel's next door if you're not in going out mode. I love this place for chill out time. Hot swim at 6am, looking at the stars. Perfect start.
