Sweet, well cared for little place. They have everything you need for a few days, coffee tea, dishes, fridge, even a pitcher of milk for the tea as a welcome. Super comfy bed! Easy walk to the lake, one block away. Resource binder and owner suggestions are handy. Nice owners.

Great spot to stay in; so lovely and quiet. Great features of the past era. Was clean and got offered milk for coffee and teas provided in room with mini fridge. Stayed with a girlfriend and we enjoyed some bubbles outside the room on patio with supplied chairs & table.

A very relaxing and comfortable overnight stay. The mini kitchen facilities and a fridge to keep our food cold was very handy. Everything was clean and the area was in a quiet location. Walking distance to the lake front and not far from the main shopping centre. We would definitely stay here again.

My daughter and I were in town for Equifest. The little sleep out was perfect for us. Lovely space, friendly owners, off-street parking and super easy to check-in and check-out. Larger spaces out front looked fab too. Highly recommend.

The first time I’ve stayed at this motel and it was very nice. The owner was warm and friendly. The retro style is a cool touch and the rooms were comfortable and best night sleep for a long time. The communication was great and kept me informed regularly before I arrived and after I had departed. I had specific requirements that they were able to accommodate easily.

My second stay at the Lake Motel and I love it! It's cosy, friendly, and perfectly located within walking distance of the centre whilst far enough away to be quiet and, genuinely, dog-friendly. Ideal for a weekend away to relax and recharge.

Enjoyed our stay. Unit very clean and beds comfortable, excellent kitchen facilities. Very helpful and pleasant host, would stay there again. The motel was close to town but in a nice quiet area. We liked the themed decor and had we been there when it was sunny, would have used the nicely set up BBQ area behind our unit that was directly accessible from the unit.

My wife and I had a great one night stay at The Lake Motel in two rooms with our son and his wife. The motel is small, but is decorated in a an interesting and tasteful retro style exactly as advertised. Everything is clean and comfortable. What made our stay memorable was the friendliness of the hosts Tony and Di. My son and I went fishing in the afternoon and there was no problem with an early check in. We were lucky enough to catch 6 nice rainbow trout, of which we delivered 5 to a butchers to be smoked and brought one back to the motel. I asked Tony whether we could cook the trout on the barbecue. He kindly offered to prepare the trout by butterflying it and putting on sugar and salt syrup. He provided excellent advice on the cooking. Another interesting aspect of our visit was the print of an amazing photorealistic portrait of the musician Ray Columbus, which was on the wall of our room. This is the work of Tony and Di's son Mark Rutledge, who is a highly accomplished artist specializing in portraits of rock musicians. We had a nice discussion with Tony and Di about Mark's career and I ended up calling Mark to compliment him on his work and to discuss the musician Mark Lanegan, of whom we are both fans. I highly recommend this motel - the true kiwi hospitality is as retro as the decor.…

Wonderful stay and so good to be able to have our dog stay, too. Lovey garden out the back, clean, friendly staff, handy to amenities - had everything we needed to break our journey for the night. Reasonably priced, too. We would definitely stay again.
