My wife and I have stayed at the hotel several times. This occasion though was special, it was to jointly celebrate an anniversary – the type that requires an apprenticeship of at least 50 years! The staff made us feel special which made the occasion even more enjoyable. This time we booked a lake view room. While the views are certainly variable, and at times quite magnificent, the breezes off the lake during our three day stay made sitting outside on the room balcony not very pleasant. Thermal Valley rooms are far better in that respect, but with lesser views. An aspect of the lake view rooms is the large free gravel car park in the foreground at a lower level. Even some basic low level landscaping would enhance it. Secure covered parking is available at the hotel. The staff were wonderful, as we have experienced in the past, and we enjoyed dining at the Bistro Lago. Can’t wait for our next visit and getting back into the warm thermal pool followed by the spa pool.

We had a nice junior suite overlooking the pool. Very spacious and a good bed. Pool area is nice too and a good gym. A/C in room was hot, asked reception to address. They said they’d do it by remote, no better second night so slept with door open. Charged us for breakfast for two days. We only had one, and it was poor. Took 3 days to sort it out.

We had three nights here a couple of weeks ago and stayed in a one bedroom apartment, which is spacious. It provides cooking facilities, as well as laundry. We were a bit disappointed that the windows obviously had not been cleaned for a while, the balcony was quite dirty - a previous occupant had obviously spilt something and it had not been cleaned; and one of the bedside lamps was not working. We do like staying here, lovely location with views over the lake and we enjoy using the pool and spa.

Just spent a weekend here and can't stress enough how much they made it a great weekend. Covid stuffed up the travel home but the two nights were brilliant. We're definitely returning. Room was spacious and had everything we needed. Staff were unobtrusive and left us free to relax accordingly. Worth every dollar.

Driving through Taupo looking for the 'Hilton Lake Taupo', we passed many motels directly on the Lake front... alas.. The Hilton was not there, as we imagined, but instead was out of town and far from the lake. Although there was a lake view, from afar, in front of this lake view was a gravel carpark and busy road!! I was expecting with the name 'Hilton Lake Taupo', for it to be closer than it was. Check in was easy and the receptionist helpful, and the room adequate. The pool area and spa was lovely.
