Very disappointed with this place. We booked online and looking at the photos, liked the idea of the one bedroom villa. It appeared to be 'stand-alone' so expected nice quiet room. Whilst their website doesn't say 'stand-alone' as such, nothing in the photos indicated that the unit had a studio unit thru a shared doorway. One photo shows this room off the living, but it was thought to be our room. The way this is set up is that there is a fuller unit with living, and a studio - I expect that this then becomes a 'two bedroom villa' by simply opening the connecting door
This is a fantastic place to stay when visiting Lake Taupo . It is only a few minutes drive from town and lots of the attractions Like Huka Falls . Very clean and spacious and quiet . Little houses well spaced and nice surrounds ..apple trees and ducks ... Highly Recommend
We stayed in a room little more than the size of a shipping container for $233 a night. If we’d known the actual dimensions we wouldn’t have bothered. I must admit it was mentioned on the web site, but who could imagine so small. A box room. It was little more than the spare bedroom of the larger cottage sized stand-alone accommodation. The TV was incredibly small and the Sky programs were the most basic we’ve ever seen in NZ accommodation. They also mistook us for someone else and sent two emails saying our credit card had been declined. In a way I wish it had been. All in all a big eeeergh!!
We were so excited to stay here, having stayed a few years previously and loved it. The room was missing basic things like soap and we had requested a cot which wasn’t there. It was hot with no air conditioning or fans, if you left the doors open then it was full of mosquitos. The website stated there were baths in the villas but we were in a villa and there was no bath (for our children). We looked for some sort of information about the room and the area so we could order dinner. They seemed surprised at our asking and found us an old ripped up one that gave information about the room but no information on Taupo or local dining spots. We did like the space and the beautiful grounds and were given a late check out when asked.
Had booked a studio as I was traveling solo. Unlocked the door and walked in to clearly hear the conversation from the adjoining studio. It was so clear I thought they were in the room and I had been inadvertently given a key to an occupied room. They werent loud - just normal conversation level. I walked straight out and back to Reception, and the nice young man upgraded me (at my expense) to a stand alone villa. Which was lovely and peaceful. However the complete lack of soundproofing and privacy in the studios is the worst I have encountered. My home is more soundproof room to room. Just a note on the shower - there is nowhere to put your soap and there is a lineup of used travel size soaps along the ledge above it - which is pretty gross and clearly the cleaners have never noticed.…
