Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

The restaurant was amazing, nice having a pool and spa on site, the only bad thing was the mattress are very old and worn and they need sky movies and air conditioning, we wouldn't mind paying the extra, we have found similar in taupo for an extra $30 and we have everything including a spa in our room

It's not a bad place to stay. It's a pretty good location. Just outside town, but close enough that you can walk if you wanted. The rooms are dated, there is no denying that. The place could do with a bit of a re-up in the near future.

Our room was clean, quiet and warm, with several heaters provided. Shower pressure and temperature good. Free onsite parking. Front desk staff was friendly and helpful. They were happy to accomodate a very late check in. Paid $150 for the night which we thought was good value compare to other hotels. Would stay again.

This place is just awful. It’s borderline whether it should be closed down. Our room had a funky smell you couldn’t get rid of. The bathroom has no ventilation. The rooms are beyond tired and at $244 per night I would have expected better. Do yourself a favour, boom somewhere else. If you have to stay here take some air freshener.

This place is not like it is on the photos. The rooms are extremely dated and the price does not reflect the fact they are so run down. Take air freshener with you, the musty smell is overwhelming and the condensation is out of control. They don’t have extraction in the bathroom and you may need a tetanus shot after using the onsite spa.

Very dated. Beds were old and hard. Heater rattled loudly and wifi was slow. Went to use spa and it was cold. Minimal kitchen utensils and no microwave or toaster. No hot or cold sticker on mixer so spent ages figuring out what way to turn for hot as the hot water took ages to come through, wasting litres. Also, pressure was terrible. Spent $200 a night! Was so disappointed.

Shabby with no frills The dated furniture is falling apart. Got charged $150 for a room with nothing. look on website to book. As much cheaper. Online it looks nice but very disappointed in its appearance. They have done some upgrades but why they put shabby furniture in a room that had updates it drags it back down. So I give it 2 star. The bath is barely big enough to sit in. Forget lying back as you’ll hit the wall. Plastic cactus plants ? Very tacky & cheap. Receptionist was friendly - no phone in running on to call them. Lock on my door didn’t lock properly either.

Worst motel I’ve stayed at! Dirty , old , mouldy, stained bed linen, hair in bed, was just awful. Staff were lovely and offered us breakfast we had got in late from a dinner I should have complained night before but thought all rooms would be the same. Owners need to put some money into it or shut the doors .

Not the best place I've ever stayed! OK I know we booked late and it was hard to get accommodation but this place wasn't really up to par. I had stayed here before maybe 20 years ago - it was fine then but I don't think anything had changed. The bed had a terrible sag in it. The decor was very dated - there were rips in the wallpaper and the chair in the room was very worn. It's a pity because it looks imposing from the outside and it was really nice when I stayed here years ago but goodness it needs a face lift.

Rooms cold, need of total overhaul. No facility to eat meals in room as not equipped with anything except cups/teaspoons, thou kitchen kindly lent us plates etc. Executive spa bath room 203 plug does not fit (even thou you pay for a jetted bath) one tiny rubbish bin in bathroom only. Housekeeping minimal standard, paintwork on bathroom ledges flaking ohh, poor shower pressure. Pool well maintained though loungers need replacing. Breakfast was yum! Not worth $180+ per night.
