If you are looking for value for money in Napier, then this is the place. The staff are extremely helpful and the location is just a few minutes walk from the town centre. The rooms have large spa baths, balconies overlooking the sea, satellite tv channels, a kitchen area, and are very clean - and the launderette is free (incl. washing powder). At just $115 per night I would recommend this as place to stay to anyone!!

On our recent tour of the North Island my wife and I stayed at the Shoreline. We got a studio unit that faced the ocean. Our unit had a two person jacuzzi tub. The room was spacious and comfortable. We thorougly loved being able to open our door to the Pacific and watch the sun rise in the morning.

This was the best place we stayed on our one month trip of the North Island. It was great value for money. Great views from the balcony. Modern spacious room with all the trimmings, including a giant spa bath and kitchen facilities. Great water pressure. Welcome basket. We ended up staying here extra nights as it was such a good spot.

From the moment me and my family walked in, we could smell this sewage smell that was around the suite. The drinking water had an odd taste, which was both unpleasant and concerning. The rooms are advertised as elegantly designed and stylish, but the decor felt outdated and the sofa bed was dirty when we pulled it out. Thanks to the nice housekeeping who cleaned it and gave us bedding and blankets. To top it off, the internet wasn’t even working. When we asked reception about it they said they would contact their IT guy and to try beachfront motels WiFi. But both were not working for us and the internet was not fixed for our entire stay. However, I must admit that the motel was conveniently located in a good spot, providing easy access to nearby attractions and the beach. Unfortunately, the negatives outweighed the convenience, making it not as good as advertised on their website.

This motel is fantastic. It is 10 minutes drive from the centre of Taupo but that means that the property is one of the few in the area that actually has lake Taupo at the end of the garden! They have a barbeque and decking that borders the beach and lake and all guests are welcome to use these facilities. Apparently it is also very good for fishing but I don't fish so wouldn't know!

Our accomodation was fantastic. It had two hugh seperate bedrooms, a living room, kitchen and the most amazing conservatory that had windows across the whole back that gave great views of lake Taupo. The sun beamed into this room and there were lots of comfortable furnishings to sit and lie on.

The owners were lovely and very accomodating. They provided loads of information on what we could do in the area and ended up having a drink with us when we had our barbeque.

Shoreline Motel TAUPO

We actually stayed at this motel last night & were very impressed.

After reading about this motel on TripAdvisor, I decided to check out their website. I was wanting accommodation for one night at short notice & Doug was very helpful in sorting this for us.

Because he hadnt taken my credit card details to secure booking, I called that afternoon to let him know we wouldnt be arriving until late after having to detour due to flooding & he was totally cool with that. He gave me the room number & told me he would leave it unlocked with a light on & we could just go in when we eventually arrived.

We eventually arrived at 9pm & he had given us 2 units which were connected with a door in between, but were both self contained. Very nice units, comfortable beds & good bathroom with good shower pressure.

Location was great, right on the lakefront - not that we actually got to see the lake becuse it was such stormy weather, but without the rain it would be such a perfect spot!

We had a downstairs unit which was away from the road (lakeside), but I do think that the top units might be a bit noisy due to being by the main road.

Thanks Doug for a fantastic stay. Would totally recommend this motel to anyone.

Stayed 1 night in March and wished we could have had more time here, as this is a perfect bolthole. Exceptional value, clean, well equipped units and 30 footsteps away from Lake Taupo. Although it’s in Waitahanui (a 10 minute drive from Taupo centre), this is actually a massive bonus, as it’s quieter, and few places in Taupo have this kind of lake access. Having a beer and a BBQ on a clear evening, watching a beautiful sunset is as good as it gets!

Nothing to complain about here. Modern, clean, well equipped, comfortable, friendly manager, not expensive and absolute lakeside. Quiet at night. Would have liked to have stayed longer.

The Shoreline is as close to perfection as a motel can get, literally exceeding every expectation I had. Early check-in? Sure. Quiet location? Of course. Need a spa next to your bed? No problem - in fact, let's throw in a deck with that. For $100 USD a night, there's simply no competition in town, especially since the rooms have been freshly renovated to a very high standard.

I particularly liked the NZD $16/person room-service breakfast. This represented the best value breakfast we found in New Zealand, and definitely helped before the 4-hour drive down to Wellington. If I'm ever in Napier in the future, I guarantee I'll be booking the Shoreline!
