Had a wonderful stay for our 1 year anniversary. We booked the luxury two day escape which included the most amazing massage. Gary the owner was very attentive and made sure we were well looked after. Chris the chef is so friendly and makes the best pancakes. A little pricey but other than that really couldn't complain. The views are awesome too. Uber is also active in Taupo so it wasnt a problem getting to into town or expensive. Def worth visiting!

When we had trouble with accommodation Gary and Shirley came to the rescue, getting us in last minute and accommodating our 2 young children without a second thought. The Lodge is truly beautiful with a view to match. Both Gary and Shirley are super friendly and although probably not too used to the little ones running round, made it a safe and fun place. Breakfast cooked for us each morning was delicious and the chef was always eager to make sure he had done his best, which he had. If you like a morning stroll as I do, no need to go looking for it or go far, the immaculate gardens on ground are a perfect walk and my 2 year old loved the fish pond, while also feeding the fish and birds with Gary. We will be coming back for sure but maybe just the 2 of us next time ;)

Wanting to escape from "real life" for awhile we booked into the Lake Taupo Lodge for three nights. It was a beautiful location with an amazing garden - appreciated your hard work Shirley - and lovely views of the lake. It felt like a real sanctuary. Gary was an attentive host and Chris was on hand to provide delicious food when required. We very much enjoyed our stay.

My partner and I along with two close friends thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Lake Taupo Lodge. Set above picturesque Lake Taupo in a quiet location at Acacia Bay, the view from the room deck is breathtaking. Gary and Shirley are great hosts, and are very interesting to engage with in conversation over the 'welcome' canapes and glass of wine. In fact excellent food is a highlight, the fresh and delicious breakfasts are the nicest we've experienced. The comfortable, well appointed rooms left us wanting to extend our stay, or plan a return. Overall a 5/5 experience, but next time we intend to enjoy more time at this special place.

Gary was a gracious host who welcomed us into his home, provided excellent service with setting us up for dinners and transportation for a hike late in the day when we thought it could not be done. The rooms were very good, had nice views and privacy. We enjoyed breakfast, canapes and drinks in the evening and Chef Chris was amazing and prepared us an early breakfast in our rooms when we needed it and an amazing lunch when we took our hike. They clearly went above and beyond during our stay.

Fantastic property beautiful grounds extremely friendly and willing to accommodate in every way possible. Chris the chef was fantastic we had a huge breakfast made to order every day, no need for lunch. Ken helped with daily plans and arranging dinners. WiFi was recently improved and worked fine. Only 6 rooms and very spacious I would highly recommend and if returning to the area would definitely stay again below views from room

This is another exceptional NZ boutique accommodation experience. The Lodge is about 10 minutes out of Taupo in Acacia Bay and offers wonderful views of the lake. It’s like a home away from home with beautifully appointed lounge and dining spaces each offering lovely views of the magnificent gardens and/or the lake. The room we stayed in was perfect, offering a wonderful view of the lake and the garden. It was spacious, well appointed and private with its own sunny balcony. Garry, our host and his wife Shirley are terrific hosts and made us feel very welcome. A glass of wine with superb canapés at around 6pm in the lounge each evening was a highlight and an opportunity to get Garry’s tips for the next day’s exploring or to hear about his remarkable business career. Stefan, the chef, is a master - his breakfast offerings are first class as are his canapés each evening. Sadly, they do not offer an in-house dinner service but Garry has suggestions to satisfy most tastes from amongst the many eateries around Taupo. We couldn’t recommend this place more highly.

I took my husband to Lake Taupo Lodge for a night of 5 star indulgence and we were not dissapointed. The Pine Suite was glorious and the added requested touches were spectacular! Although we couldn't have the evening meal at the Lodge, a reservation was made at a great little restaurant in Taupo where the food was delightful. Marvelous canapes were served before we went out for dinner and a super little dessert was prepared for our arrival back to the Lodge after dinner. Fabulous. Roses from the garden were put on our pillows, which was such a romantic touch. Thank you so much Garry and Shirley for our night to remember, and thank you Chris for a super breakfast. A lovely two day stay at Lake Taupo Lodge with Gary and Shirley who provided exceptional service and hospitality . From the breakfast to canapes in the evening ( with wine by the fire ) this two day visit to Taupo was relaxing and special. The large guest bedroom was well appointed with everything we needed with a comfortable king sized bed. Views over the lake were amazing , it seemed so close. We would like to return for another visit in the near future and recommend this lovely lodge and hosts to other travellers . Warmest Regards Ian and Wendy.

For our 65th bday, my husband and I traveled to New Zealand and visited the North Island our second week, first staying at the Lake Taupo Lodge. A throwback to Frank Lloyd Wright design, this unique property offered us a very comfortable stay (we stayed in the Frank room) and some of our best breakfasts on our entire trip. We loved the location, found it easy to get to town for dinners out (great suggestions from our host) and the room was spacious enough for two, comfy bed and pillows and a nice size bathroom with shower and tub. Thank you Gary and Chef for a lovely stay.
