We stayed here for two nights in a De Luxe suite on the second floor. There were quite a number of steep steps to our room so this wouldn't be suitable for the elderly or anyone with a large amount of luggage. We appreciated that there were 2 rooms, one large double bedroom and a separate living area both included TVs. The bathroom was spacious with excellent water pressure. There was outside seating but this doubled as a walkway for guests gaining access to their rooms so we didn't bother sitting outside at all. Anyway, the only view was the motel next door but this was shielded with some trees. The little kitchen was well stocked with cups, sauces, glasses etc, 2 cooking hobs and a microwave. The unit was clean and quiet but could do with a coat of paint. Fresh towels were left both days. There were only 2 negatives, only one bedroom side table for the queen bed and the light switch in the bathroom was right in the interior of the bathroom and not by the door where it should be. This made it difficult to find the switch in the dark during the night.

My baby and I spent the night here while passing through Taupo during level 2. We had the best time! The room was more than I expected for the price, in fact there was a bed in the lounge so I ended up sleeping there while my baby was in his portacot in the bedroom. There was Netflix on the tv, a fridge and microwave and a lovely shower. Across the road from the lake too, about 10 mins walk from town. Cons were the lack of heating and the extra charge for the portacot but due to the cheap price I still give it 5 stars! Due to level 2 it was a contactless check in so I received a text earlier in the day with all the information I needed and it all was super easy. Thanks so much, we will be back!

Driving in we were greeted with a broken sign above the office and grubby looking motel and driveway.
We were directed to our 2 upstairs rooms, past a broken umbrella and unswept walkway. Upon entering the first room booked for 2, we dodged a portable un valenced single bed in the lounge to get to the small double bed In the bedroom ( Advertised as Large double bed .. we didn’t expect a king but a queen bed would have been nice ). Into The bathroom and spa with no windows, and back outside to check with our friends to see if their room was any better. Their room did have a queen bed, but still had a 2nd temporary bed stuck in the tiny lounge dining area.
We could see the lake from the walkway outside our unit but it was not the experience we were expecting for the $200 per night price tag on each room. We returned to the office and told the manager we would not be staying. We left and found alternative accomodation to find that Bay Court had actually taken the Full payment after we left.
I would have been happy with a small admin fee but to take the entire amount I consider to be almost criminal. They have since offered a 70% refund but I find that also unacceptable taking $120 for rooms they actually resold immediately for that night.
We are in our sixties now and have travelled extensively around New Zealand throughout our lifetime and I can say without doubt this is my worst motel experience ever.

The staff offered us very friendly and helpful service. The motel location was excellent. The room was very basic, it looked tired and not an executive suite as advertised. The carpet was worn through in places, the painted walls was peeling in places. The spa bath leaked making the bedroom carpet wet and smelly. It was overpriced and there was no Sky TV.

Only reason for the 4 star is it is a decent walk from town. However, the people are friendly, the place is spotless, the bed is comfy and did I mention the people are friendly. Loved hearing people singing away whilst cleaning, obviously happy in their work.
Will be back

What a Great Motel, very clean , had everything we needed , the staff was so friendly & extremely accommodating , has storage for our E bikes ( which was very important to us ) . The Motel was close to the shops, eating, pubs, walkways , biking trails , straight across the road to the lake , great location. We we had a good view of the lake . We certainly will go back & would Highly Recommend . We have a lot of unfinished biking trails to do.

Lovely people managing the motel. Very CLEAN rooms, great facilities. Awesome location - could walk easily across the road to the Lake. Walking distance to the city also. Only grumble was the hard mattress which they tried to help us out with by giving us a mattress topper so maybe management needs to sleep in the beds to see how comfortable they actually are. So if you’re booking ASK for a mattress topper.
We stayed in Room 12 (top floor furtherest from the street) Room 9 has the best view BUT closest to the street.

We stayed here for 2 nights it was a Christmas present for my father in law who was visiting from the UK. We checked in and as soon as we entered our room we were impressed. It was clean and smelt fresh bed was really comfy. We had no complaints at all. The manager was really nice and friendly and made us feel welcome. We wish that we had booked to stay longer. We will definitely be coming back

Our family of 4 stayed in a one bedroom suite. The location is next to a restaurant and within walking distance of town centre. It was a contactless check in. The beds were comfortable and the pillows soft. Extra pillows and blankets. The towels were soft and the spa bath was enjoyable. The kitchenette was fully stocked if you would want to cook. It all looked well maintained and clean the heater worked nicely to warm up lounge and bedroom. Heater in bathroom and on beds. Even across the road it was a quiet nights stay.
