Bellbird Ridge B&B is located in the hills surrounding Taupo. We stayed in the cottage separate from the main house which was well appointed and had a full kitchen. The cottage overlooks a gorgeous garden and is very private. We also enjoyed seeing and feeding the alpacas and sheep. Rex and Donna invited us over for dinner one night, which was lovely. They were excellent hosts.

Away from the bustle of Taupo, Bellbird Ridge is surrounded by beautiful countryside. We stayed in the cottage which is self contained, private and overlooks the beautiful garden. It's very well appointed for self catering and there is also a BBQ which we used one evening to grill steaks to entertain some friends staying in a nearby accommodation.
All ingredients for breakfast are supplied from fresh fruit and yogurt to a full cooked English.
Rex and Donna are very hospitable hosts and Rex races cars and gave us complimentary tickets to go to Taupo race track to see him race.
What a find!

We stayed here for a night, and the hosts were very helpful (calling tours for us, etc.), were lovely to chat with, and provided some nice treats as it was our honeymoon.

We spent some quality time with the animals the next morning, and loved the tranquility of the farm. The whole place was very well taken care of.

A hot tub for after completing the Tongariro Pass, when I said we wouldn't be able to cook breakfast she prepared salads and left us steaks for the BBQ, the lodge is located directly next to the Alpaca fence and we fed them every morning when we woke up, and the beds were so comfy. I stayed with my parents in the cottage when on vacation, and the owners were friendly, helpful, accommodating and an absolute pleasure to stay with.

We recently stayed 3 nights at the Bellbird Ridge Alpaca B&B Farmstay and absolutely loved it. Rex and Donna were great hosts and were SUPER helpful. It is such a peaceful tranquil spot and not far from Taupo at all (about 10 minutes) - we were so happy that we stayed there rather than in town.

We stayed in the cottage which was totally self-sufficient - Donna filled our fridge and counter with breakfast items (hashbrowns, bacon, eggs, tomatoes, fruit, milk, juice, yogurt, bread, cereal, etc.) and had biscuits, cookies, tea, etc.

We thoroughly enjoyed feeding Harry, Ron and Draco (the Alpacas) and Donna and Rex certainly made every effort to ensure our stay was great. The gardens are absolutely beautiful and includes a pond with some fish. When we travel back to New Zealand, we will definitely try to stay at the Bellbird Ridge B&B again - it was perfect.

This proved to be a very well-equipped, comfortable and spacious little cottage, with great hosts and friendly animals in the adjoining field. An evening meal provided by the hosts on the evening we arrived was excellent and very good value. Breakfast provisions were generous. Birdsong was sparse during our visit but probably because the weather was not the best. The only improvement would be to have the Wi-fi range extended to reach the cottage. When we were there we had to walk at least half way to the house to get online, but the hosts were talking about getting a range extender installed. It’s all of ten minutes drive into Taupo. Kinloch is closer and a delightful lakeside settlement.

Just to let everyone know, ELVIS is alive and well.....Elvis the 8 week old bottle fed lamb that is.....
This is an amazing cottage, beautifully kept and extremely well run by such a lovely couple, Donna and Rex. They were so helpful and couldn’t do enough for us. Thank you both. Throw in the gorgeous alpacas, Harry, Ron and Drago, plus eight or nine hand fed sheep that run to the fence to be fed their nut treats. So friendly and cuddly, you will want to take one home, we wanted to. We had our eyes on Rihanna. Jack the labradoodle and Don the retired herding dog made up this fabulous family. We didn’t get to meet the two cats. We’ve just spent four nights there, nowhere near long enough. So much to see and do in the area, Taupo, Rotorua, Waitomo glowworm caves, Huka Falls, the volcanos etc. It was fantastic!
The cottage itself has everything you could possibly need, it’s cosy and very warm with an excellent bathroom. The breakfast provisions are substantial and tasty, we couldn’t finish everything. Thank you SO much Donna and Rex for an amazing stay, it was a highlight of our visit to New Zealand. A pleasure to meet you both and your animal family....

My husband, 9-year old daughter and I stayed here for one night and wish we had stayed longer. We loved feeding the alpaca, sheep and cows. The view over the paddock was bucolic and looked like a story-book. The setting by the pond was so lovely with all the flowers. We also saw rabbits and frogs and lots of birds. The size of the cabin was perfect for us. The kitchen was well stocked and we used the BBQ grill. The hosts provided more than enough breakfast items: fruit, eggs, cereal, milk, juice. They even did a load of laundry for me, thanks! We didn't go into the town of Taupo because we loved this place so much, we preferred to stay there and enjoy the pastoral setting.

Amazing hospitality - first time staying in the main house (have stayed in the lodge a few times before) and Donna and Rex went out of their way to cater for us and my wife's parents. Rooms were fantastic and felt brand new. Breakfast on the deck was perfect. Alpacas were friendly and personality filled as usual. Just a great place to stay and relax, can't wait to be back!

Quiet tranquility. Magical bird songs heard while sitting on the deck among the trees. Hostess very helpful with choosing the best local experiences. Breakfast and treats very fresh and tasty from the farm.
