We had just one night in Taupo to break a long drive. our room was at the back of the block which meant that there was no road noise, but we still enjoyed the lake view from our part of the terrace. A fabulous welcome, warm and clean unit, lovely shower pressure, good lighting, a more than adequate kitchenette, and close enough to the restaurant area on the lakefront in town. Safe parking around the back. Will definitely make this my new 'go to' in Taupo for my regular long distance drives.

Upon arriving at this destination we were greeted with friendliness after a long drive. The Manager advised that she had turned on the heater to warm our room as it was a bitterly cold night. The bed has an electric blanket which was just superb. She also recommended a lovely Restaurant for a quick meal. Overall our one night stay was an excellent experience and would not hesitate to stay with them again when next in NZ.

Thanks for your review - as the new owners it is appreciated. We are more than happy to have your room ready and comfortable for you if you are going to be late arriving. Of course we did appreciate you advising us of this to allow us to turn on heating etc for you. We look forward to seeing you back again Kindest Regards Gill and Steve

We stayed in a one bedroom room for one night. the motel was walking distance to town, and the staff were friendly. The motel room was good, but the kitchen and bathroom were a little bit tired looking. I wish I had known that there was a fully equipped mini kitchen beforehand which would have been very handy if we were there longer than 1 night. The spa bath was very nice, but the shower did put water all over the floor. All in all in was a really good 1 night stay.

The new owner called me to try to get me to change the accommodation I had booked. A bad start. I specifically chose downstairs accommodation as I was traveling with an elderly relative. He wanted me to move to upstairs units and change to us all sleeping in one big room. By the end of the call he realised that he better leave my booking like it was as he could tell I was not impressed.

When we arrived a large wheely rubbish bin was parked directly outside the rooms and a worker was sitting smoking at a small table. The ashtray full of butts left the entire time we were there and the smoke blew into the rooms. I ended up moving the bin myself.

There is no aircon and a note in the visitors book said large midge type insects come in when the lights are on at night but don't worry they don't bite they are just annoying so leave the windows closed. Fantastic when there is no aircon and it is the middle of summer. We waited until we had all the lights out before we could open the windows.

The new owner also owns a large 100 room establishment down the road. When I asked about being able to order breakfast I was told that service had been discontinued and they are now asking their guests to walk 100 yards down the road to the other establishment as they serve buffet breakfast. So, if you like having breakfast in a leisurely fashion before you have your morning shower DO NOT stay at this motel.

Overall I think this motel should not have the word Executive in the title as it implies it is much more than it is. There were not even any tissues in the bathroom cupboard. Also, the water is extremely hard and they do not provide conditioner so if you like your hair like straw, go right ahead an book at this motel. To cap it all off the shower does not have any adjustable flow. The holes are tiny and the pressure high so the water jets were like little needles. Overall an unpleasant stay.

I faced racial harassment from the Manager. He abused, bullied, yelled and falsely acused me. He came in my room picked up my food opened my lunch container, smelled it and almost spat in it saying "this stinks". Even though I had "do not disturb" sign on the door his cleaner opened the room door with her key and just walked in. She did this several times and when I challenged her she said she had the right to walk in if she wanted. I am an Indian and they told me that I stunk and acused me of cooking curry in their motel room when I never even touched their pots or any cooking utensils. It was a terrible stay. The manager even told me to "get lost" and leave if I wanted to. He than said if I tried to get into any other nearby motel he would ring all the motels and inform them not to take me in. When I asked for a refund so I could leave he refused to give. I had to force my stay and had a terrible time. I am a registered health professional and will be contacting the media and the authorities for this extremely abusive and unacceptable behaviour. Staff and management at this motel are racial bullies and their service and behaviour is far from "executive."

Felt like I was being interrogated when my parents and nephew met us at the motel before we shot in to town for dinner. I know what I payed for so please don't pretend you're just "checking" on our room when really you're doing your best to make everyone feel uncomfortable by asking if my parents were guest at the motel and reminding us of how many people we paid for. Not impressed, its amazing how one interaction can ruin an entire 3 day stay - disappointed!

Stayed here one night. Checked in late-ish after a long drive and expected more for what we paid. Yes we were a late check in and probably were not given the best room but even so I expected more for what we paid. The room was dated, its a long bow to draw to consider this executive as the name implies. Funny little signs around the room... "dont use the spa bath after 10pm.....if you cook and leave an odour you will be charged $150.00... cleaners will tidy up kitchen and remove waste but guest must not leave excessive dishes"...there is no offer of a complementary newspaper which really should be standard, the beds need updating...all in all a very oddball place. We stayed further down the road for the same price and had a much better suite and modern facilities. Executive Motel needs a make over and some value added to the guest experience.

Lovely night away in Taupo and this Motel was exceptionally clean and very friendly owners. Slept well on comfy beds and apart from the heater being a little noisy at times, the unit was warm and cosy. Highly recommend!

Comfortable and spotlessly clean accommodation in a great location, across the road from the lake and within reasonable proximity of the town centre. Quiet, well appointed rooms with a small kitchenette - and reasonably priced. Obliging and helpful staff. Good restaurant and bar "Jolly Good Fellows" within 5 minutes walk - highly recommended.

It was so nice to check in with friendly staff and given helpful information.
We had a long day walking and visiting, and to relax in the spa bath was so good.
The room was clean, it was great to sit out on the balcony with a drink with a view from the side, of the lake, the bed was firm and comfy just how we like it.
We would Definately stay again and recomend this motel as its the best we've stayed so far :)
