The new owner called me to try to get me to change the accommodation I had booked. A bad start. I specifically chose downstairs accommodation as I was traveling with an elderly relative. He wanted me to move to upstairs units and change to us all sleeping in one big room. By the end of the call he realised that he better leave my booking like it was as he could tell I was not impressed. When we arrived a large wheely rubbish bin was parked directly outside the rooms and a worker was sitting smoking at a small table. The ashtray full of butts left the entire time we were there and the smoke blew into the rooms. I ended up moving the bin myself. There is no aircon and a note in the visitors book said large midge type insects come in when the lights are on at night but don't worry they don't bite they are just annoying so leave the windows closed. Fantastic when there is no aircon and it is the middle of summer. We waited until we had all the lights out before we could open the windows. The new owner also owns a large 100 room establishment down the road. When I asked about being able to order breakfast I was told that service had been discontinued and they are now asking their guests to walk 100 yards down the road to the other establishment as they serve buffet breakfast. So, if you like having breakfast in a leisurely fashion before you have your morning shower DO NOT stay at this motel. Overall I think this motel should not have the word Executive in the title as it implies it is much more than it is. There were not even any tissues in the bathroom cupboard. Also, the water is extremely hard and they do not provide conditioner so if you like your hair like straw, go right ahead an book at this motel. To cap it all off the shower does not have any adjustable flow. The holes are tiny and the pressure high so the water jets were like little needles. Overall an unpleasant stay.

We had just one night in Taupo to break a long drive. our room was at the back of the block which meant that there was no road noise, but we still enjoyed the lake view from our part of the terrace. A fabulous welcome, warm and clean unit, lovely shower pressure, good lighting, a more than adequate kitchenette, and close enough to the restaurant area on the lakefront in town. Safe parking around the back. Will definitely make this my new 'go to' in Taupo for my regular long distance drives.

From the moment I called to book, Gill was so accommodating and didn't falter from arrival till departure. The property is lake front and just the right distance to town, quiet and SPOTLESS! The staff are friendly and extremely great at what they do. I only wish I could have stayed longer. We will be back.

Stayed here for one night. The room is well set up and comfortable with good amenities and wifi. The check in was friendly and the motel is well situated close to the lake and town. I would happily stay there again

Am a regular guest now as this motel is ideal. Away from the noise of town on the lakefront so still handy to everything. My favourite rooms are the King studios on the balcony the bed is large and comfy ( and I think almost new) Love my. spa bath too and that I can get bath salts at reception too The staff are all so good and the motel is very clean BUT now they have gone another step up and have LOYALTY CARDS! Thanks all will be back asap

My husband and myself stayed here for 3 nights on our way to Wellington earlier this month. Well, what can I say, the owners Gill, Steve and Macho ( the most adorable dog ever) we’re so friendly and helpful. We stayed in Executive King Suite and with my husband being 6ft 2”, he was really happy with the King bed and it was soooo comfortable. This Motel is spotlessly clean with everything you could want in your room and only a short walk to town. If you want to go swimming they provide beach towels for you so you don’t have to take your bath towels from the room. Everything is thought of. We have booked a return stay in the Summer and will be recommending this Motel to all our friends. Thank you for a fantastic stay.

This was a great motel to stay at. It was very clean, good size room, and comfortable bed. Good location - only walking distance to town. The owner was very nice and friendly. Will defiantly recommend this motel to others and would stay here again.

Response from ExecTaupo, Manager at Executive Motel

Hi Thanks for your kind review and glad that you appreciated our comfy beds. We have been putting new beds throughout the Motel which are a little firmer than previous older ones. Upstairs we have changed layouts and put in new Hotelier King Beds in the Executive King Rooms and these have certainly made a difference ( though the occasional person finds these still a wee bit firm!) Sorry yes the road was super busy and the rain made it a little noisier than we usually get- was certainly not a pleasant time for anyone when that storm went through Hope we see you again on another trip Kindest Regards

We stayed 2 nights at the Executive Motel. The host was very welcoming and friendly, offering money saving tips and suggestions. The motel has a view of the lake and is close to the main centre of Taupo, a 20 min walk to the information centre. The room was clean and spacious with a full kitchenette. The spa bath was very relaxing, especially after a long day walking. Would recommend this motel.
