Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Perfect location and winter sunshine for walking along the lakefront. We were able to invite family to stay and also found the unit very well resourced for cooking our meals which meant evenings relaxing in the unit. The underfloor heating was a welcome bonus in the winter!!

We had a delightful six week stay at Lake Edge, a serviced time share at Taupo NZ. The well appointed self catering accommodation on two floors boasts two good sized bedrooms and three bathrooms. Sleeping available for six. There is a balcony to the master bedroom and another to the living room. The later leading down to Lake Taupo and a safe beach, the swimming pool, an indoor and an outdoor spa, sauna, library and games room. Other activities are available.

We booked this using our timeshare swap and were not disappointed. Truely a wonderful location with views out over the lake and so close to the lake. They are located on the edge of the walkway and it’s a great place for starting your bike ride. The units are well furnished - we were in unit 1 and it had 3 full bathrooms- one quite small - but great for two couples. Everything you need is there. Under floor heating in the bathroom was fabulous. Great pool and spa area. Would definitely love to stay again.

Lovely uninterrupted views over the lake and over to the city centre. Well positioned to all local attractions. Visited in the middle of winter and the accomodation was toasty warm with underfloor heating. Clean and exceptionally well kept gardens.

Great location with well appointed rooms and facilities. Cleanliness was first class making for a very nice stay. The walkway in front of the resort is an added bonus for getting that exercise with pristine views. So much to do in the area.

The receptionists were amazingly pleasant, knowledgeable about any questions we had and even if a guest was agitated they remained pleasant and put everyone at ease. The unit was cleaned to a very high standard. One of our best holidays in a long time.

We booked Lake Edge Resort through our timeshare exchange company, and we were so glad we did. Although not high on our list of places to visit, I'm so happy that we went to Taupo and enjoyed an amazing week. Lake Edge Resort is exactly where the name says it is - on the edge of Lake Taupo, with a fantastic view across the lake and into the mountains. We enjoyed sitting on our balconies late in the afternoon watching the fog roll across the lake. I can only imagine how beautiful it would be in summer, but we were still happy to be there in winter. With the bird life on the lake just below our room, we enjoyed sitting in what little sun was to be had (it was a bit of an overcast week), talking to the birds, watching life go by on the lake. The resort has two spas and a pool. Now, for those of us from Queensland it was way too cold for swimming, even in a heated pool! But we did enjoy the spas a couple of times, and they were a perfect temperature for heating up our bodies and warming ourselves against the cold conditions. Only a five minute drive from town, Lake Edge is also just a 43 minute walk from the centre, so doable if you don't have a car. But I would recommend having a car, as most things worth seeing are just too far out to walk to. There is off street parking at the resort. There is also a games room which stocks some basics for wet weather days, and I believe you can also use the bicycles and kayaks, although we didn't due to the weather. Very helpful staff on reception, who advised us where to find the keys etc. when we checked in outside reception hours, and who were very friendly whenever we had questions etc. The room was a double-story villa style, with a fully functioning kitchen, dining table, comfortable lounge, small desk, plus two bedrooms and two bathrooms upstairs. There was another full bathroom downstairs which was a bonus, and also laundry facilities in the room. Everything our family of four could possibly require for a week away. We did find that the hot water ran out one night, but that was the one night I decided to have a hot bath, so that was probably my fault ... sorry husband! While staying at the resort we did a day trip to Mt Ruapehu for a spot of snow fun, and also a day trip to Rotorua. Neither was a particularly long drive, and worth it to see somewhere different. All in all, a lovely place to stay, and I would love to come back in summer and see the differences in the lake and experience other activities and things to see in Taupo.
