15 self-contained motel units, studio and one bedroom, situated only a couple of minutes walk from the town centre. There are also 2 bedroom / 2 bathroom lakefront apartments. Some units have large spa baths, all units have a kitchen with microwave, hotplates, fridge and kitchen utensils. Sky TV is available as well as Freeview channels. We are across the road from lovely Lake Taupo with views to the mountains, but only the apartments get uninterrupted views.

This motel is in a great location right on the lake front and less than 5 mins walk from all the bars, restaurants, and cafes.
10 minutes to the boat harbour where all the trips on the lake leave from, so perfect location for a stay in Taupo.
The hotel has free wifi and parking as well as 50+ Sky tv channels, including sports on its in room tv's.
The rooms are a bit dated but perfectly clean and serviceable.
You have a living room with a fold down bed. TV and a small kitchenette.
Bathrokm with a decent shower is a good size.
The bedroom has good storage and a double bed.
Check-in was quick, friendly, and efficient.
Would stay here again.

We chose this for the location, being easy walking distance to many restaurants and I was so impressed with the cleanliness! The sink was shining so much you could see your reflection, the spa bath and shower pristine and the coffee cups and wine glasses were spotless.
The staff were very friendly, the bed was comfortable and the area was relatively quiet.
I highly recommend and it will be our accommodation of choice next time we are in Taupo.

Lovely accommodation. Really comfortable, clean and roomy.
The position is great, across the road from the lake. Walking distance to restaurants and pubs.

Exceptionally clean and tidy and very comfortable. Great location near lake and town. I love how they have a sign saying staff will clean dishes, which pleases me to know they are done professionally for next customers. Of course I washed them, but left out for staff also. And dedicated marked carpark is another great feature. Lots of Sky Channels too.

Super handy to everything in walking distance.
We stayed in a family room. There was a bedroom for kids and a queen in the large lounge. Perfect for our one night stay passing through.
Also one of the cleanest motels we’ve stayed at. there was even a sign that said to leave the dishes and they would do them. you do wonder sometimes when it’s been left to previous guests to do by hand with no dishwasher if they’ve been done properly so we were impressed. Everything felt super clean.

We stayed in a studio unit and it was spotless. You could use the kitchen sink as a mirror. It was a basic room which had a spa bath in the bathroom which was a good size.
The bed was firm but comfy. The location was close to , for those who want it , Macdonalds , Burger King and the heart of the restaurants in Taupo, and at the other end of the complex it was across the road from the Lake.
The owners were very friendly and extremely helpful . I would give them 10 out of 10 for everything. Great Location, did I say that .......

Lovely motel to stay and enjoy the sights of Taupo. Opposite the Love Taupo sign..right on the lake edge.
Warm, comfy and very clean.
Ling was so helpful and gave great advice to book direct and get a good deal. This enabled the purchase of the family room which accommodated the 2 children in a separate room.
We took the room with a lovely spa bath. A bonus was Ling accepting our small old pug. Thanks so much

Booked two nights for the location easy walking distance to many good place to eat or grab a drink, so 5 stars for location, room was good all we could ask for clean and neat. 3 things we normally look for when booking a motel, location (tick) cleanliness (tick) service, basic here's your key do you want milk park your car here. Not ascertain had we been here before pointed out to do whats on in town at the moment the difference between good and adequate service. Unfortunately seems more and more the case in N.Z. now days and lets not blame COVID.
Would be happy to stay again service or lack of difference between 4 and 5 star.

Came across the Great Lakes Motel purely by chance on the Internet.
With overseas travel out and AUCKLAND having been in Covid 19 lockdown, a break was urgently needed.
Ling and the staff could not do enough for us. Our a Unit was spacious, tidy, and clean. Location ton the edge of Taupo’s CBD and access to road arteries made the location perfect. Views from the entrance across to the Volcanic Plateau got one off to a flying start each morning.

A very nice gentleman checked us in and showed us to our room. The room was nicely decorated, had a heater and AC, was clean and relatively spacious. Hot shower with good water pressure. The location was the best part, though- directly across from the lake and within a short 3-5 minute walk to restaurants!
