I had a booking for after Christmas. Suddenly got an email cancelling my booking because of “renovations” with only one week notice. Due to such late notice everywhere is fully booked and have had to cancel my whole Taupo trip. In addition, Adelphi won’t respond to my emails.
The most recent reviews say it all. Don't stay here unless you are desperate. Our room had obviously been used to house winz clients. It was spartan, minimal cutlery, door to bedroom was missing, 1 light in 4 in bedroom worked, carpet badly stained etc etc I don't normally like posting reviews of this nature but I don't know how the owners can advertise this as a motel and charge what they do. Having booked at short notice on booking .com we couldn't cancel. I have a number of photos I could post if there is any dispute re these comments.
We have stayed here before and never had any issues. But there has been a change in management and this place appears to have descended into squalor. We booked in advance but when we turned up they claimed to have lost our booking with no rooms available. This was a blessing as we later learned the place is being used by WINZ to house the homeless. Would never ever stay here again.
This used to be a good place to stay but we arrived to find our 2 bedroom unit unavailable (we had booked and paid), they showed us to a 1 bedroom unit that didn't have enough beds for all of us or enough kitchen stuff. They offered to move us to another motel they owned. We moved, it was awful. They have a 4 star rating based on previous owners. Do not go here.
Didn't have much choice of where to stay due to not booking ahead and school holidays. Paid $150 for one person, so I'd expect it to be a nice room. So here were my issues: 1) There was only a bottom sheet and a VERY thin cover on my bed. No top sheet! And in winter, at least a duvet would have been nice! 2) In the other room there were two beds. THEY had a top sheet but NO cover on the bed. A sheet over a duvet inner was the top cover. 3) The guy checked the tea and coffee when I was in the room. He was happy it was stocked. ONE teabag and ONE coffee sachet! 4) Shower was not cleaned and had used soap packets in it. 5) Light over the kitchen didn't work 6) No milk because it hadn't been delivered... at 5pm? Plus I really don't think the milkman comes and delivers those small milk thingies you find in the motels. 7) I got a glass out of the cupboard and it was wet. 8) 50 tv channels.. nope. Did I go and complain? No. Why? Because I asked for milk and I was told (at 5pm) it hadn't been delivered yet? He would get some. I went into town and got some dinner, was gone about, came back and still no milk, so I told him not to worry about it, I'd get my own. I hadn't noticed the lack of teabags and coffee sachets at that point. So yeah, I got the distinct impression he didn't care. Absolute rip off.…
