Initially we had difficulty booking the right room for our family of 4. But Rebecca Davis was very helpful and after a few emails we got connecting rooms at a reasonable rate which we really appreciated. Check in was seamless the receptionist for very polite. The rooms were clean and well maintained. The best part of the room was definitely the beds, they were firm and supportive unlike other hotel beds! Small gripe there were only Sky Sports 1 and 2 and with the NRL playoffs on Sky Sports 4 plus the in-room WIFI strength was slow and poor we had to miss out on those matches. Breakfasts was fine it had plenty of choices and well presented. There is definitely a lack of carparks at and around the hotels. On the nights we went out for dinner and even returning at 8:30pm we would find nearly all the carparks taken. We didn't feel comfortable leaving it next door at Super Cheap Auto. Check out was easy I was able to use some of my Accor points which was handy. Overall we enjoyed our stay and we hope to return again soon.

Kia Ora, Thank you so much for taking the time to review your experience. We very much appreciate your comments regarding your stay at the Novotel New Plymouth Taranaki. It is always a pleasure to receive positive feedback and fantastic to see you enjoyed your stay overall. I will be sure to share your comments with Rebecca she will be very pleased to hear. I am very sorry to hear you experienced some wifi issues, we are in touch with our provider at the moment to see if we can improve the internet speed throughout the hotel. In regards to the parking, we are sorry to hear you couldn't find a park during the evening. All our parking is complimentary and we do try to ensure our guests are looked after with car parks, however on the occasion the hotel is full and we possibly have an event in house, we do sometimes run into parking availability issues. We do hope this did not dampen your stay too much. Generally there is usually enough car parking in our underground parking lot as well as around the hotel and on the streets surrounding. Thank you again for sharing your experience, and we hope your next visit will be as pleasant as the previous one. Warm Regards, Sarah - Marketing Manager Novotel New Plymouth Taranaki

The Novotel Hobson New Plymouth still looks new and is well kept. Staff are very friendly and guest focused. The room we had was pleasant, the bed was very comfortable. The fittings are typical Novotel but overall the experience is at the higher levels of this Accor chain. Breakfast was of good quality and the dinner at Haukai was really good. The lamb cutlets and goat curry were both standouts. The hotel is well placed and close enough to town to be handy while still peaceful. Sound proofing between rooms was good however the doors allow noise from the hallways to penetrate the room so you may be woken by early or late guests. We stayed on a busy weekend with a full house which I suspect was rack rate but even then I thought it was good value and would happily stay again. Our only hiccup was being told that housekeeping finished at 3:00 pm but when we rung to have our room serviced at 2:00 pm they had gone home. Towels were replaced which was probably all that we needed.

For a long weekend, we decided to visit New Plymouth. Simply due to past visits to Novotel hotels, we decided to stay at the Novotel New Plymouth.

Was a good location, just off the SH 3... About a 10 minute walk into town, but due to the location close to the coast, can be a nice walk. A few amenities around the hotel, supermarket close by, fuel station close.

Good parking, although if the hotel is full, it can be limited parking, but for a holiday weekend, we had no issue finding a parking space.

Hotel was modern, staff exceptionally friendly and in the crazy times of 2020 with the virus around, staff were very aware and trying to make all feel safe.

Rooms were a good size, very comfy bed, potentially my only complaint was the bath towels were very small, and we did have 1 towel that had brown marks on, so discarded that quickly as were not sure what they were. But would definitely stay there again, should we ever visit New Plymouth again.

The Novotel New Plymouth is a new Hotel and the brand has a good reputation. We were expecting a very comfortable stay in a modern hotel. We have stayed in some amazing Novotel hotels around the world and expected the franchise has a certain standard. Our experience was disappointingly budget. With the current push in New Zealand to help local business I didn't use one of the international sites to book our stay, but booked through the hotel so that they would get the maximum benefit. We booked a studio room. When we got to the room we noticed that there were slats covering the window. On closer examination there was s sign saying that the hotel was built in a residential area and that as a result studio rooms have their views blocked. This made the stay seem really budget. Other more costly rooms are not impacted, only the most basic rooms. then we noticed the other budget features. There were barely enough supplies for tea and coffee. Not bar supplies to purchase, no bathrobes. This was Economy class with a Capital E. and not what one expects of Novotel. In my opinion they would be better to move the price point to a level where they can offer a great experience. We were down in new Plymouth with our kids and they had rented a beautiful air BNB. Compared with the Novotel theirs was the comfortable stay and we would go the same way. We all use brands in our purchasing as it usually denotes an expected level of standard. But in this case Novotel: sort out your offering.

Thank you for taking the time to tell us about your experience with us here at the Novotel New Plymouth Taranaki. I understand that your experience did not reflect your expectations and I do apologise for this as this was never our intent. I do understand that the slats in the room can be rather restrictive and off putting at times however it is a requirement by the council however we are working on more creative ideas on how to better offer privacy to our hotel guests and to the residents nearby. Due to Covid as well, many of our in-room amenities have been temporarily removed to ensure minimal exchanging/handling of amenities through touch however are still available on request. I once again apologise for this coming across negatively. As mentioned in my email, we are genuinely a nice hotel with staff that are eager to help and please our guests and I hope you give us another try. I would love to have a chance to make up for this and would be more than happy for you to contact me personally. Kind Regards, Vaughn D'Souza Front Office Manager

Without doubt one of the favorite hotel brands I have stayed during my 4 years in New Zealand! We have traveled throughout the country on an almost monthly basis.
Having traveled to many hotels in the last 7 years to different countries (Hyatt, Fairmont,Sofitel,Marriott,Novotel,Heritage,Rydges)

Upon arrival we were warmly welcomed by Kate who had helped us by taking our request for early check in this is part of the Silver Rewards program with Accor, we also received our complimentary drink tickets as part of being a rewards member.

The staff was extremely friendly and the restaurant very flexible (appreciate this!) and the restaurant waitress who brought our food to our room deserves a special thanks. We had two great evenings here, which obviously also added up to the experience.

We purchased the breakfast with our room. We arrived and were promptly greeted and seated quickly each day. The Fresh Ciabatta loaf provided was a huge plus and a nice thick slice put through the toaster and topped with the perfect poached egg made by the chef with red hair (he was incredible hard working and efficient keeping the food output seemingly by himself) The sausages used in the breakfast buffet are not very good and they probably create a lot of food waste if I was to think about the negatives from our trip.

Our first day the weather was without clouds and from our room we could see the Mountain top! I would put a hot tub on top of the roof if it was possible. There is no pool ammenities but there is a sauna and fitness studio

The rooms facing the mountain have a wooden louvre. This is smartly in place so that there was more privacy and I didn’t have to look at the neighborhood.

The bar is well stocked and there are large wingback chairs throughout very comfortable place to read and converse casual with your partner.
There are nice big tables outside with umbrellas which I’m sure are amazing during warm days.

Parking was free!!!!

I truly enjoyed walking the 5 or so blocks to the beach and coastal walkways. The scenery was beautiful and it was a relieve to walk in such a quiet and peaceful environment.

I understand that people are a premium in todays landscape and appreciate the hard work everyone put into our stay. We look forward to our next stay at a Novotel!

The location of the hotel is along a busy street, but any noise is limited to the daytime. In the evening and at night until about 6:30 am you can sleep undisturbed.
The rooms are spacious and nicely appointed.
We had dinner and breakfast in the hotel and these were among the best we have had in New Plymouth.

Accommodation options are quite limited in New Plymouth and the Novotel was a very comfortable place to stay. It was like any other chain, business hotel but it was great to have a large room, a very wide bed, easy car parking and delightful, helpful staff.
The Novotel is only slightly out of the town centre and there is a lovely walk along the seafront to all the bars and eateries. Unlikely that from the UK we would ever return to New Plymouth, but we would certainly stay here again without hesitation.

Yeah factors: location of the hotel is good. Our room (upgraded to a King) was spacious and quiet, with modern decor, and a smart tip. There are guest laundry facilities (but you pay, and need local coins), The hotel is close to local restaurants, the coastal walk and the museum. Good water pressure in the bathroom.
Nah factors: The air conditioning worked, but we had to have it up high and on 16 degrees Celsius to have any effect, which meant the person closest to the vent froze. Tiny fridge, and no microwave or toaster, so you are pretty much compelled to eat out for all meals. No in room safe. It might be because we’re getting old, but we no longer welcome having to climb into a deep bath (even a spa bath) to have a shower. No black out curtains. No real bathroom storage, and the lighting was not great.
Meh: Smallish wardrobe, but it had a whole 6 hangers (which seems quite generous for NZ hotels). Parking is outside (next to the hotel, but not secure or under cover). Not a problem for us, as we had a hire car. No pool. The hotel is being renovated - there were no issues (eg noise), but it might be a nicer place to stay once that work is done.

Kia ora SarahmX3142MD, Thank you for sharing your experience at the Novotel New Plymouth Taranaki. I'm terribly sorry that your experience did not meet your expectations. Terribly sorry about the lack of a microwave or a toaster in our standard rooms . Please feel free next time to reach out to the reception team - they are available 24/7 and would be more than happy to heat up food or have toasted bread brought to the room. I understand that sometimes it can be difficult to find a car park when the hotel is completely full in which case we offer the car parking next door at Supercheap Auto however once again, the hotel reception team would be more than happy to find some on-site carparking for you. Some of our rooms can have bath tubs however, we would be more than happy to offer a different room that has a shower instead on your next visit. Conversely however, we do have safes in the rooms located in the wardrobes, no on-site guest laundry and we haven't had any renovations done at the hotel since the opening in December 2015. Nevertheless, I do hope you enjoyed your time in New Plymouth and we hope to see you on your next visit. Great hotel with carparking. Studio room was spacious and extremely quiet which is important to me. Location close to City Centre which can easily be walked to in 15 minutes. I visited New Plymouth for the Pukekura Park Light Festival and the Park could be walked to. I appreciated the meals which were beautifully presented. I would stay here again.
