Detailed Reviews
Great location just outside the CBD and great views of Mt Taranaki from the top of the drive. We stayed in the penthouse apartment which had its own hot tub. A bbq was provided on request. We used the guest laundry (had our own powder) and the dishwasher (again luckily had our own detergent as wasn’t provided).
The apartment is spacious and clean and the bed was excellent. We ate one night in restaurant. Service was excellent, menu slightly limited. Would definitely come back again.

I loved the fact that One Burgess Hill feels like you’re out in the country but you’re only a 5 minute drive from downtown New Plymouth. We were warmly greeted by Andrew on arrival then drove down the hill to our accommodation, a king studio. Our suite had everything we needed - a comfy couch, king sized bed, dining table and chairs, kitchenette with 2 burner stovetop, a huge bathroom with separate shower and tub and best of all, a large balcony overlooking the hills. What a view. A free guest laundry is on site. If we make it back to New Plymouth, we’ll definitely stay here. Thanks Andrew.

What a beautiful location and great experience, starting with arrival at the attractive property. Lawrence made us so welcome upon arrival. We were fortunate to stay 3 nights and loved the views, the quiet atmosphere, and the sheep grazing on the lawn.
The unit was a good size. Lots of room and a well-equipped kitchen. The big bathroom was great with a modern shower and big soaker tub which was nice for sore muscles after doing the 20 km Pouakai Crossing. We were also able to do laundry while staying which was a bonus.
It's just a few minutes to a grocery store, downtown, and around the corner from the stunning Tupare Gardens. Very convenient. Definitely a wonderful place to stay in New Plymouth.

Andrew and Paul are awesome to deal with super communication and did their best work to fit us in..thanks also for lending us your DVD player and great selection of DVDs for a movie night. Location is rural views and a river running near ..woke up and the view of the sun coming up and the cows in the paddock super start to the day. Have stayed twice now and plan to return again real soon for a longer stay. A+

We very much enjoyed our four day stay at One Burgess Hill. Very high quality apartments are available offering comfortable beds, a well provisioned kitchenette and large shower room. (Wi Fi is available). Picnic tables enable you to eat outside in the secluded and well manicured grounds.
A laundry room is available.
One Burgess Hill provides a good base to climb Mt Taranaki, walk the Coastal Walkway and explore New Plymouth.
Andrew and Anne make you feel very welcome and are ready to resolve issues or offer local advice.

We enjoyed our 2 nights here. Very peaceful and restful.
My only complaint was the carpet could have done with a shampoo as it had a couple of dark patches from previous spillages??
Also an idea would be in the studios to put a dishwasher or dishdrawer in as I think most people on holidays would prefer this

We love this place & are already looking forward to plan another trip back.
The moment you drive in you feel like you are in paradise even on a wet day.
A two night stay at least to enjoy what is on offer here. The grounds are so well cared for its easy just to sit back with your favorite drink & enjoy the view.
The added bonus from our last stay is that they now have their own restaurant on site so no need to go anywhere.

A nice motel a little out of town. Good sized room with kitchenette which included a fridge freezer and two ring hob. We cooked one night - equipment needs a review - cheese grater provided but no small paring knife or spoon to stir/serve.
The bathroom set up was lovely. The room is huge but slightly oddly set out. The TV is only watchable from the bed with the sofa placed directly under it for example. Grounds were nice but we could not find a route down to the river. We knew it was a little way out of New Plymouth but overall the advantages of this (quiet location) did not outweigh the isolation but that may differ for others. A good stay none the less.

This complex of lovely units is in just the most perfect spot. There is a beautiful outlook over the Waiwhakaiho River from the upstairs bedroom and the grassy area out of the ranch slider over the balcony. Were also able to watch Tuis, wood pigeons and hawks fly by. The unit had everything we needed. Even giving you exercise walking up and down the stairs. There is access way down to the river but we did the Burgess Park walk through the bush instead. Despite feeling that you are in farm land, it is very close to New Plymouth. Just be careful doing right hand turns out of the drive way onto the State highway. And Google Maps tells you to take the long detour into NP by heading South to Egmont Village!!
We were also lucky to be onre of the first diners in the new Quail Eatery which opened on the 3oth of Dec. This has just the perfect outlook. If you're getting married in the near future this would be the PERFECT spot.

As an American visiting New Zealand, I thought people were incredibly kind but Andrew, the manager here is a cut above and is the kindest and most cheerful person I met in all of NZ. He gave us a free room upgrade and we were very pleased with the room. The property also has a great restaurant, Quail's Nest Eatery, which too has incredible reviews. Great location just a few miles north of the town.
