We really enjoyed the fantastic clear mountain morning (and afternoon) view of the snow-capped Mt Taranaki from our 'Mt Egmont' room in mid September. The beautifully restored and extended Victorian home is a delight and well maintained by hosts John and Rosemary. We were greeted with coffee and home-made cake on our arrival and provided with complimentary minibar facilities (replenished daily). The full breakfasts were as good as any we have had in top quality hotels in Europe. John, Rosemary and Daisy, the labrador made our two night stay quite memorable and we hope to rekindle the friendship sometime.

Hosts John and Rosemary take great pride in the immaculate B&B that they have created in the pretty rural hills close to New Plymouth. The accommodation is provided in a charming heritage timber farmhouse that has been comprehensively refurbished
We stayed in the Egmont Room which comprises a spacious, comfortable and quiet bedroom and a neat ensuite. The furnishings have an elegant old world charm but it is the glorious window outlook to the magnificent Mount Taranaki that makes this a unique place to stay. We visited in mid Spring and were lucky to experience some clear weather which provided are marvellous view from our room to the perfect snow capped mountain peak.
John cooks a hearty breakfast for the guests who share the comfortable dining/lounge room. This room has an attractive outlook to the garden and the farmland beyond. Timber panelling, book shelves, tasteful wall hangings and a glowing wood fire make this an enjoyable space in which to share travel stories.
The garden setting is a delight. Birds bustle around the multitude of flowering shrubs and a cute old and blind labrador will happily accompany anyone taking an early morning stroll.
Villa Heights is an easy 15 minute drive on sealed roads into the heart of New Plymouth, a large and prosperous provincial centre with a very good range of dining options. The B&B provides an convenient base for exploring the Taranaki National Park which is the spectacular centrepiece of the region.
John and Rosemary are excellent hosts, very knowledgeable about the region, and always attentive to the needs of their guests. We were very pleased we decided to spend three nights enjoying their hospitality.

We stayed 3 nights with John & Rosemary, enjoying hospitality at its best, We were warmly greeted with tea and scones and immediately felt welcome and at home. They went the extra mile to assist with recommending restaurants and making reservations on our behalf. (They guided us well !)
This is more than just a B&B considering the service that is offered and John & Rosemary are truly wonderful hosts. We arrived as guests and left feeling like friends. Hopefully we will return in the future.

What a fantastic find. One of the most comfortable B&B's we have been to in a superb location. The view from the veranda amazing and it is lovely to sit out there in the evening enjoying a drink. The room had all mod cons, including a fridge, and was very clean and tidy; as were the "public areas". Breakfast was great and the hosts very friendly. What more could you ask for!?

We were warmly welcomed by the owners, John and Rosemary and their labrador Daisy and immediately felt at home.
Villa Heights is a pretty Victorian house with lovely gardens in a quiet setting but within a few minutes drive of New Plymouth.
We stayed for 4 nights in April in the Valley Room, which was very private with beautiful views. It was extremely comfortable and spacious with a separate dressing room and a lovely ensuite shower room. Home baked biscuits were provided daily along with tea and coffee making facilities.
There is a lovely sitting room and a conservatory for the guests' use. Rosemary was always happy to provide cups of tea and delicious cake.
We were asked the previous evening what we would like for breakfast the following morning and this was cooked by John and Rosemary. There were also cereals and fruit etc., which we ate with the other guests. Nothing was too much trouble for this delightful couple.
We had a lovely home cooked dinner one evening and we appreciated not having to drive into New Plymouth to a restaurant.
We would certainly stay here again and look forward to seeing John and Rosemary on our next holiday in New Zealand.

My husband and I stayed for one night a few days after our wedding, and we wished we had stayed longer. The room was lovely and had everything we needed. It was clean and very comfortable with great views. Breakfast was delicious and hosts, John and Rosemary were a delight. It's close enough to drive to New Plymouth for dinner and explore the nearby sights.

We had a fantastic time at Villa heights. John and Rosemary were the perfect hosts. The place is exceptionally clean and the breakfast was just delicious! John helped us plan places to see and things to do and we were made aware of so much more than what was listed online.

Our bedroom had magical views of the mountain! This accommodation is on a little hill about 15 min away from the city centre, but the location and views were just amazing. On a clear night, the sky opens up to the millions of stars and the galaxy!

I will be coming back to this accommodation many more times in future.

This rural location is good for those who want to get away from it all. Lovely views of mountain and countryside. Garden extensive and very interesting to walk around. Good breakfast with birds singing in the chimney! Quite hard to find without gps though. Ask at Jim's Garden Centre for directions. Very kind and helpful hosts keen to give advice on tourist attractions.

We stayed four wonderful days with John and Rosemary and were delighted with our choice of B&B. We loved the breakfasts and home baking, and our room was glorious, with many little luxuries. Their garden is fantastic and the view from our room was breathtaking. We would highly recommend this beautiful B&B to others.
