Andre and Jan have a beautiful homestay with real attention paid to every detail of making guests stay absolutely perfect. They made us feel so at home, and despite the wet weather over our visit we had a fabulous time. The breakfast was also 10/10 with so much attention to the little extras that made it really special. Our hosts were such nice people and we felt part of the family by the time we left - there can be no higher praise surely. Thanks so much.

"Immaculate" would be the proper description of this accommodation. The room, the grounds, the entire house, everything is not just thoughtfully appointed, everything is neat and exceptionally well maintained, in working order and just properly clean.

We had the Asia room which shares the bathroom with guest in the Indian room. This was clearly stated at the website and so we knew this when booking our room. The Garden room comes with a private bath for those who prefer this. Our room showed to the lovely garden. We put the air-condition off and let fresh air in supporting a great sleep. We had coffee and tea facilities, even a nespresso coffee maker in our room, a fridge with complimentary soft drinks and beer, slippers and bathrobes. The bed was most comfortable. All was decorated and arranged with care and love.

All guests have access to the sitting room, dining room, terrace and look-out. The house has an outstanding architecture which was one of the reasons we booked this place. It is situated a little outside of New Plymouth. Walking to the board walk along the ocean is feasible but going back means to climb up the hill. It's a short car ride to the town centre of New Plymouth.

Both hosts take great care of their guests and nothing seems too much for them. We never had such a plentiful and elaborate continental breakfast. It must have taken hours to prepare it. Overwhelming to say the least plus high quality items.

The place offers much privacy but also ample opportunity to socialize. A comfortable and relaxing atmosphere in every aspect. The hosts set high standards and the only draw back is, after leaving the Tivoli Homestay, that the next accommodation will hardly ever come close to that. I would give this place 6 stars!

In a beige world it’s great to find a place to stay with personality plus. Firstly, the 1970s distinctive architecture is fascinating by itself, but combined with the location on the heights overlooking the town, sea and mountain, this becomes a very special B&B. André and Jan are consummate hosts, and have equipped the rooms with absolutely everything a guest could possibly want. Breakfast was beautifully presented and again the attention to detail was amazing, and a long way above the average presented in this country. It is a very happy environment all round and we thoroughly enjoyed our stay.

Our recent stay at Tivoli Homestay was one of the highlights of our trip to New Zealand.

Andre and Jan are very friendly and welcoming. They are great hosts, going well out of their way to be attentive and provide guidance and suggestions regarding the many activities within the town and surrounding area.

The house is well located, by the foreshore and close to the city centre. Yet sufficiently away to provide a peaceful and quiet environment with lovely views and yet easy walking to restaurants, shopping and attractions.

I strongly recommend Tivoli Homestay

The house is lovely, very well and creatively decorated. The bedroom and facilities are modern and spacious.

Breakfast was both generous, extensive and very tasty.

Thoroughly enjoyed our stay at this wonderful house. André and Jan excel with their hospitality and willingness to share their home with you. The house is full of interesting artwork and sculptures showcasing their South African background, and it is a cultural treat. The breakfasts are wonderful, and presented with meticulous detail.

My family spent 2 nights at Andre and Jan's fabulous homestay and the warmth of the welcome we received made us feel like this was a home away from home. The house has awe-inspiring views from all directions and has many interesting nooks to explore and a beautiful garden to enjoy. The breakfast feasts produced daily were out of this world. Andre and Jan were extremely helpful, full of good suggestions and knowledge regarding anything to do with this beautiful area of New Zealand, and we very much enjoyed the time we spent with them. Thanks for a truly amazing stay.

Andre and Jan must be perfectionists. Everything is done to the highest standard. Nothing you can think of hasn’t been done. What have impressed us are the hospitality, generosity, attention to details and enthusiasm. Not to mention the iconic house itself and the nice interior. The breakfast is amazingly well presented. Plenty of food and many are homemade. When we left, Andre was smiling and waving at us which made us feel like we had just visited a friend. It’s exactly the experience we would want on a trip and we are lucky to have found this lovely homestay.

Really enjoyed our stay here. Andre and Jan were perfect hosts, very friendly and welcoming and immensely proud of their beautiful home. All our needs were catered for and the breakfast was superb. This was one of the highlights of our trip. Very thoughtful touches in the bedroom and nothing overlooked. The views from the terrace are fabulous! Thank you both for such a lovely stay.

The Tivoli Homestay is a place one must fall in love with. First ist the architecture of the building, second the beautifully appointed rooms (we had the garden room, not very large but cozy), third the overwhelming friendliness and hospitality of Jan and Andre and last, but not least, a breakfast which is outstanding and doesn't leaves nothing to be desired. If we ever come back in this reagion, this is the place we will stay again.
