Was a nice room, comfortable and clean. It is dated but was a reasonable price. Pretty central for New Plymoth, only problem is you have to go around the block in this place, due to one way streets. But, would visit again.

I stayed at this motel with my overseas visitors for one night on a Saturday. I was very disappointed with the standard of the motel as we had paid a reasonable price for the accommodation. We had a family room which was old and tired, the curtains were missing some hooks and not hung properly, one of the draw curtains had holes in it. Having said that the beds were clean and comfortable. I wouldn't stay there again.

This motel is located slap-bang in the CBD of New Plymouth, a very good location, very handy to the shopping centre, restaurants and supermarkets, the studio flat we stayed in was a fairly spacious flat kept in a very clean and tidy condition, the décor dates back to the 1980's era, but is very well maintained, we had a queen size double bed and a single bed, which was absolutely comfortable, my wife and I enjoyed two nights and slept very well.

There was a small en-suite and kitchenette which was all we needed

The staff were welcoming and gave very good service to us.

This is a very good place to stay on a tight budget, the rate per day was very reasonable, GR8 value for your money, I would call it a Budget "No-Frills" GR8 service

The Braemar Motor Inn is placed right in the heart of the CBD, a great location,
which is very handy to shops, business offices, hotels, restaurants, and entertainment facilities, as well as a good place to stay just when visiting the city.

There was plenty of car parking space in the front courtyard in front of our studio flat.

We will most certainly come back to stay again, reasonable rate, worth the money,

We will most certainly will recommend the Braemar Motor Inn.
our friends who intend going up to New Plymouth to visit or on a business trip.

Pets allowed is probably the only positive thing about this place.

Booked an employee in for the night, within seconds of putting his dogs food down it was covered in ants. He has crawled into bed, but already feels as though there are bugs biting him.

This motel is a clean dump. Accommodation is full of WINZ people. Kids screaming and running around from 3pm until late. Banging up top and all around all of the units and screaming and shouting. It actually drives you mad. No privacy or peace. Hated it and couldn't wait to get back home. This was supposed to be a 3 day break but awful.
Had to park our car away from unit due to kids throwing stuff on it from up top!!!

Checked into this Motor Inn to a demand from the owner/manager? to talk money. Had driven with a basketball team from Wellington, some 5 hours on the road to this outstanding customer service greeting. Checked team into rooms that were a shambles at best, told that these young athletes could sleep on couches! After arguing that this was unsatisfactory we had to start re configuring rooms and getting spare beds out of her garage. Beds were old and creeky and smelt like they needed replacing a decade ago. The owner/manager continued to harass and be unhelpful despite the fact that she had two teams in house for 4 days - a football squad and a basketball squad. She changed the goal posts of what was offered verbally over the phone, once we arrived. The stay was exasperating, the place was tired, poorly lit, mismatched everything. Certainly would not recommend as a destination to anyone.

Booked out 5 rooms for a school sports team. Drove for 5 hours and was welcomed with a "we need to talk money". Owner had left a woman in charge who she considered did not charge us enough - and wanted to know how price was worked out. Told her we had written quote. No welcome to New Plymouth or enjoy your stay. Was shown rooms where we were told sleeps 5. Asked to be shown 5 beds and was shown a leather couch which was considered a place you could sleep. Asked if we could put frozen meals in freezer as had arranged on phone initially but instead was told she could "turn up fridges very high?". Owner would not give advertised "free wifi" to each room - instead was trying to charge $2 per wifi number. On third day 1 of the dinner plates was broken and owner asked us to pay $5 to replace. The crockery was 15+ years old and mismatched and chipped. Owner was difficult around usage of laundry and asked us to pay $2 per load in the washing machine. When we initially booked we explained that we were a sports team. Water was turned down to a luke warm temperature - so low it was difficult to even wash dishes effectively. Beds were old and decrepit and rooms were full of cobwebs, dust and a musty smell. Linen was not changed once in the 5 days that we were there. Owner was a rude, difficult and greedy Asian woman - should not be running a motor inn. There were 2 full pots of stale cigarettes outside the room that had obviously not been emptied in years. On checkout not even a thank you, did you enjoy your stay! Just a disgraceful excuse for a motor inn - I wouldn't pay to let my dog stay here. This is Fawlty Towers asian style - we were just waiting for the hidden cameras to jump out and say "surprise - you are on candid camera!". Please, please do yourself a favour and book somewhere else!! This place is beyond a joke.

Handy location. Nice, clean and tidy with car parking at the front door. In my room the quality of the beds were poor and yes I had a sore lower back the next morning (something I do not suffer from normally).

At first we booked this place thinking its reasonably priced and that it has all the basics even though it is old and not as flash as most motor inns. What a bad decision! The beds are almost if not past their lifetime and the rooms are extremely noisy. Every toilet flush and pipeline service for the motor inn can be heard. To give you an idea of how loud some of the noises were, almost everyone staying at the motor inn came outside of their room at midnight wondering what one of the pipeline noise was. Extremely annoying. Owner of the motor inn was no where to be seen which was a shame, probably used to the noises and having a good sleep. Noises did not stop, it could be heard the whole night. There seems to be no sort of insulation at all. Will never stay here again, would rather pay more and go else where. If i did not pay up front i definitely would have checked out there and then and gone somewhere else or asked for some sort of deduction in the morning of not cancelation of all charges.

This place is has not been refurbished since it was built in the sixties. It is noisy. Worse than basic and the staff just want to make a quick buck. It states there is a 'restaurant and bar attached' this actually means you can order from the local 'roast and pizza takeaway'. I really cannot believe that a place like this is still in business in this day and age.
