I recently stayed at this hostel and it was an excellent experience. The hostel is located about 70m from the Intercity bus stop on Ariki Street. Across the street is the I-Site with all local tourist information.

The hostel was clean and tidy, if a little dated and well-worn.

Ariki is the place to stay! Been here a couple of times now and always feel at home. The staff are absolute legends, the place is clean and well equipped, it's right in the centre of town and did I mention how cool the staff are?!

I enjoyed staying here and met some really nice people. The staff was friendly and helpful. The place is slightly worn and at 30 dollars a night for a six bed dorm I'd say it's slightly overpriced compared to other places in New Zealand, however the location is really good...

This hostel is just a bunch of whole furnitures thrown in together.

There was NO SECURITY at all, NO LOCKS ON THE DOORS, and a smelly dog was wandering about the whole place which was not sanitary.
