Warren and Carol were so friendly and helpful. Even helped with our Laundry. The Motel was the cleanest we have stayed in, even the Taxi driver commented on the fact that the motel had a reinterpretation of being the cleanest Motels in Town. The location was perfect for us we like walking so close to the Boardwalk and the Museum which is really good and interesting. Would use again.

Had a great spacious room, spotlessly clean too although the bed was a little hard for us. Location was fantastic - easy walk down to the Coastal Walkway as well as into town (good selection of cafes and restaurants within easy walking distance). We even walked over to Pukekura Park. The Forest & Bird environmentally friendly bathroom amenities were a lovely touch as was the complimentary bike hire - great for exploring the Coastal Walkway.

The Dawson is perfectly located one block away from the shoreline and walkway and 5 minute walk away from all the best eateries and bars in the downtown.
The hosts were amazingly friendly and hospitable - helping with ice and setting us up to go for a ride on the excellent maintained and free bikes that they kindly provide.
The unit was like new, meticulously clean and with a lovey bed and pillows and great eco toiletries.
We highly recommend this motel for everyone travelling to New Plymouth.

Central - easy walking distance to shops, restaurants, Govett-Brewster Gallery. One block back from the waterfront.
Quiet location. Breakfast available but we didn’t try it, menu looked good and reasonably priced.
Great that there were no strong smells from cleaning/deodorizing products that are overpowering in some commercial accommodation. Just smelled clean and fresh.

If you are looking for a great location close to the Main Street and handy to many attractions with hosts that go out of their way to ensure your stay is perfect, then look no further. The Dawson Motels are spotless. Our room was spacious and included a spa to relax in after a busy day. Bikes are available to use so we biked to the Te Rewa Rewa Bridge along the seaside track which runs close to the motels. We can thoroughly recommend. Thank you Warren and Carol

I thought I'd reviewed this place years ago but apparently not. We arrived 4 hours early after a bad experience with our last motel hoping to just leave the luggage and get something to eat while the room was made ready. We were ushered to the room and made to feel at home. This motel is a cut above the rest. The decor is better than motel beige, the kitchen is well appointed with a decent stove and a large fridge. The bathroom has a spa bath and a great shower. The beds are very comfortable. The towels, soaps and toiletries are good quality, as are the flatware and glasses. The double glazing keeps out almost all the traffic noise. The rooms are spacious – for a motel. You're not forever tripping over stuff, there's a place for everything and everything in its place. It's more like a well appointed small apartment. The people who service the rooms do a great job. There is some attempt at recycling. After the last place my wife said "it's like coming home." :) I think we'll keep coming back.

We stayed at the Dawson for 3 nights. It is a great motel right in the centre of New Plymouth with very generous-sized units and their breakfasts are excellent value for money. If there is a downside it's probably the road noise but hey, it's in the middle of town so you expect a bit of noise and you can walk to most places. If we go back to New Plymouth we will stay at the Dawson again.

We stayed here for 11 nights, part of the time in a double room, the rest in a single while my wife was at a function in Stratford. We were impressed by the quality of the furnishings and by the very high standard at which the motel is maintained. The owners were very helpful. The beautiful sea front and coastal walkway are only 5 minutes on foot from the motel and there is a good take away just behind the motel. New Plymouth is a wonderful holiday destination with a wealth of walks around Mount Egmont and some magnificent parks. We would certainly want to stay at the Dawson on our next visit. This motel is justifiably very popular so early booking would be advisable.

We had a fabulous stay at Dawsons Motel. In the middle of July the room was so warm we barely had to use the heat pump. Beds had electric blankets which we didnt need to use. Room was exceptionally clean and well maintained, and serviced to a high standard each day. Staff, from reception to room servicing, were fantastic. Great location, easy walking distance to city centre and a 2 minute walk to the coastal boardwalk. A 2bdm unit was ideal for our 2 adult 2chldn family. Free bike use a real bonus and much appreciated. Definitely worth the money and would stay again for sure. Thanks Dawson team for hosting a great stay.

Such an immaculately presented motel! Everything was modern, sparkling clean and fresh. It was equipped with all we needed for our 2 night stay. Loved the fact that it was clear what to expect from housekeeping! Basic room refresh, even on a Sunday. The bedside lamps even have a built-in USB port so no scratching around looking for a nearby plug socket! This place has set a very high standard for the rest of our trip😊. Highly recommended.

"Plenty of parking. But you may not be able to park outside of your room.
They dont supply body wash. Only have small cakes of body soap,shampoo & conditioner.
