An amazing hostess. Very caring and happy to chat and advise on local points of interest. Wonderful home baking and oh those fresh eggs for breakfast. We had the Rose Room which fulfilled all our requirements and more. The bed was very comfortable. The rural outlook and Helen's gardens provided a tranquil vista. Highly recommended. Thanks so much Helen, especially for the marmalade!

It was so nice to read your review of my B&B. Its was lovely to have you stay and Im glad you enjoyed the marmalade. I have heaps of rhubarb at present so am trying variations using that as a base for jam. The rhubarb and ginger seems to be going down well and am looking forward to trying other combinations. Louise my newest hen has taken to laying eggs all over the place so its a real treasure hunt collecting the eggs at present!! Lots of fun though. Thanks again.

Helen was a charming hostess and made us feel very welcome in her home. The bedroom was warm and comfortable and we also had the use of a guest lounge which we didn't use as we spent much of our time chatting to Helen in the kitchen diner.

As we suspected we might arrive quite late we had pre-booked with Helen that she would cook us our evening meal. We were not disappointed with the perfect lamb shanks she cooked for us and we were even given a choice of dessert, although we both opted for the freshly cooked chocolate fondant which was delicious. Helen was also most generous with glasses of delightful New Zealand wine.

Breakfast was also excellent the highlight being the eggs from Helen's own chickens.

Im so pleased you enjoyed your stay here. Having your company for dinner was such a bonus and I certainly enjoyed our conversations. I hope you got to sample some more good NZ wines and did a few more scenic walks before you left NZ. Thanks again.

2 nights in this accommodation, SGD $243 in total for 3 person inclusive of breakfast, totally worth every single dime u pay for.

This BnB is one that has a super WOW factor, the host, Helen has a great personality and her house is beautiful coupled with the beautiful scene of Mount Taranaki. Tell me how can it not be your first choice accommodation when you are visiting New Plymouth.

Let's get started with the location of this accommodation, it is not right smack in the town of New Plymouth however it is never far from it, a few mins drive is all it takes. Away from all the hustle and bustle, you will appreciate the peace and tranquility offered.

Service, cleanliness and sleep quality were impeccable, they were comparable to that of a 5 stars hotel. Helen is such a meticulous person, slightest details were all taken care of, if there is anything that you need, just ask her, I mean if it is within her means to make your stay an exceptional one, she would definitely accede to your requests.

When we first arrived we were greeted warmly by a friendly Helen, then there is a flight of stairs down before we get to our room, Helen without second thoughts offered her help, lug the heavy luggage down. This gesture sometimes you don't even get it at 5 stars hotels. In our room, we were greeted by nice lovely beds that looked warm, cosy and clean. That is definitely what you will need after a long day's drive. True enough the beds were really comfy and really rejuvenates you for the following day.

The only thing is the Magnolia room that we had does not come with an attached bathroom, however that doesn't affect the ratings for this accommodation though it was a common bathroom, we only had to share it with the host. Bathroom was definitely squeaky clean much better than some of the hotels I have stayed in. The other thing was due the stairs that she had leading to this room, it wasn't really ideal for children that were too young. Not really infant friendly i would say. However she has another room upstairs therefore you could check direct if she would be able to take you and your kids in before booking it. I am NOT saying that her stairs were some hazard, her stairs were PERFECTLY FINE, nicely carpeted not broken, just not too infant friendly.

During this freezing winter, radiator heaters and electric blankets were both provided in the room to make sure u are being kept warm. There were also heaters along the hallway to keep the chills out, most wonderful. There were also bathrobes provided in the room they looked clean and thick but it was never our habits to use them, therefore they were untouched. The accommodation also had a nice lounge in which you can chill and relax in there, be it watching tv, reading, light snacks (home made cookies) or a cuppa tea, that place is the most appropriate. Wifi is also provided for free, parking is also not a problem, there is a parking lot in front of her garage which we use that and along the road outside her place can be used as well. Helen also made nice breakfast for us with eggs she gets fresh from her 'girls' in her yard. I believe you cannot get it any fresher elsewhere. She cooks really well!! ;-)

Concluding this, we had a wonderful host, with very nice personality, friendly, heart warming meticulous, and the list of good stuff goes on..... to make our stay a very very memorable one, one that we cannot get enough of, one that when we go back to New Plymouth we would stay at her place again. Having a beautiful house, clean room, well kept bathroom, scenic view of the mountains, freshly laid eggs for breakfast, value for money stay, free wifi, free parking becomes the icing on the cake. Her personal touch was the midas touch!

My first choice anytime.

I had never been to any bed and breakfast before and I was bit sceptical about it but I am glad that I took this risk specially with my parents and came to this beautiful place. My whole family loved the entire experience. I couldn't stop myself from capturing her beautifully kept house in my camera. Helen is the most welcoming host we ever met. Her creativity can be seen in every tiny thing in her house and I bet that you will enjoy each and every bit of it. Helen thank you so much as you totally made our trip a beautiful and memorable experience. My husband, mum and dad never forget to mention about you whenever we talk about the trip...Thanks so much again:) Wish you all the best and many thanks for the beautiful apron (I loved the surprise!!! :))

On my arrival I knew I had made the right choice!! Helen was so welcoming and
made me feel totally relaxed with a great cup of tea and fantastic home baking, what a treat!!!

Helen’s B & B is lovely, full of touches of her warm personality and that make you feel right at home!

I enjoyed a wine in the garden in the evening followed by one of the best night sleeps in the Magnolia room where the bed was just lovely!

In the morning I enjoyed a great shower followed by a wonderful home cooked scrambled eggs and a fresh pot of coffee!!! It was very hard to leave Helen and her cool happy hens! ;-)

I will definitely be back to stay and would recommend staying here to anyone looking for an awesome host and wonderful surroundings!! I wish I was staying longer so I could have tried one of Helens home cooked dinners too!! Next Time!! ;-)

My husband, James, and I recently visited New Plymouth and stayed at Be My Guest B & B. What a delightful experience! Helen, our host, was charming, and nothing was too much trouble for her. She made us feel completely at home, and the accommodation was just fabulous. We enjoyed sitting on the deck, and Helen was even able to provide us with fresh lemons from her abundant tree for my 5 o'clock G & T (which James had thoughtfully picked up at the local bottle store). But the icing on the cake for James was the lovely breakfast of scrambled eggs ...made with fresh eggs from Helen's hens !! Of course he now expects me to provide that sort of service at home. This B & B is in a lovely quiet location, far enough from the city to be away from the madding crowd, but still only 5 minutes drive to the main shopping area of New Plymouth. Helen was very helpful in recommending things that we could do and see in New Plymouth, and we certainly enjoyed her suggestion of strolling along the walkway by the sea. James can be a bit "precious" about his car, and Helen was able to put him at ease by offering us parking in her garage. She's certainly a great host and we will definately be back, and will tell all our friends in Wanganui that when visiting New Plymouth, this is certainly the place to stay. Edna & James Worthington

We were in New Plymouth for just one night to watch our horse race, we couldn't have picked better accommodation. Helen was the perfect host and the accommodation was first rate. Every little detail was covered, lovely room with extremely comfortable bed, home baking, eggs from Helen's own chooks for breakfast. Lovely relaxed surroundings. Really made our visit to new Plymouth a special one.

Well it seems an age ago that you guys were here and had the wonderful experience of seeing your horse win. You guys were just buzzing when you got back here. Sadly our wee horse is now a member of the Feilding Pony Club. Had all the speed in the world but no desire to race. Still thats the luck of the draw. I hope your one is going well for you. Thanks heaps for your lovely comments It really appreciated.

A warm welcome from Helen after a tiring journey of 5 hrs in the rain made us feel relaxed the moment we entered. Each and every small items in the house are given attention to. The beautiful writings on the wall will make you wait and take a notice of it. The bed was very comfortable and had a good long sleep. Though Helen said that the breakfast timings were from 7.30 to 9am we made it to the table only at 9 :) and she was very flexible about these little things. She was very helpful in planning the visit to the attractions in and around New Plymouth. We love the restaurant that she suggested us and we ended up having 3 meals in 2 days :) Such is her local knowledge which will be very helpful for first time visitors like us. Overall it was a lovely first B&B experience and one to remember for a very long time :) Would love to be the guests of Helen, again :)

Actually, this is the best B&B I've ever stayed. Nice bed and clean room. All the decoration in this house is beautiful and warm. Helen is very friendly. Although my English isn't good enough, we still talked all night. The price is ok. Free Wifi is very fast and stable. The breakfast is nice. If I will go to New Plymouth someday, I will choose this B&B for sure.
