Detailed Reviews
We enjoyed a very pleasant night and breakfast courtesy of our excellent hosts. The room though small was nicely appointed with a very nice and extremely comfortable bed. Electric blankets were thoughtfully provided which were great for taking the chill off. Tea and Coffee on tap was a nice touch. The breakfast was excellent and nicely cooked, homemade bred and eggs from the chickens in the back. Our hosts were genial in the extreme and we had an excellent chat over breakfast covering many interesting topics. A bonus for us were two friendly cats. If you want a home from home, an excellent welcome, then you can't go far wrong.

Brad and Fujiko are wonderful hosts. From the room (bed) to the free range eggs I can't fault 16 Havelock. The views of the sea and Taranaki maungs are outstanding. A great place to stay. To add to the homely experience is the freshly homemade bread. The overnight smell of baking bread is delightful.

No sooner had we parked outside 16 Havelock and we were approached by the owner who immediately welcomed us and took us inside. We were shown to our room which was comfortable with fresh towels and tv. Lovely bed meant we slept well. Bathroom and toilet down the hallway. Both spotless. Excellent shower pressure.
In the morning we were treated to cooked breakfast. Fresh eggs from the hens in the back garden and sausages. Excellent coffee and toast from a loaf freshly made by the host. The hosts were so friendly. We felt like part of the family and would have no reservations recommending this place to anyone.

This was a Bed and Breakfast, although not sure we understood that from the advertising, however it was a nice clean property, very amiable host, breakfast straight from the garden with own hens for the scrambled egg! Had the weather been a little better we would have had a view of Mt Taranaki from the deck. Parking was not offered up fairly steep driveway but there was a space there. The linen was clean, but the pillowcases and sheets not ironed, and this perhaps let down over all opinion slightly. Garden a little overgrown, but chook run and vege patch out the back meant breakfast was very fresh!

Room Tip:Â This is a B&B a little further from the town centre than we thought but nice quiet location.

First time we have stayed in a B&B in NZ. Queen bedroom was so comfortable and the breakfast delicious. Brad and Fujika are a lovely couple and so welcoming. Definitely will be avoiding motel rooms in the future.

Tucked within this fairly ordinary suburban street and house is a very above average B&B experience; Brad and Fujiko's hosting is very attentive but not intrusive, and their attention to detail comes through in things like offering tea and a snack on arrival and in the food presentation, plus the comfortable beds, thick but light Japanese duvets and quality linen and towels. We started our days with a good cooked breakfast, but should have found time for at least one of Fujiko's Japanese meals. (Next time!). The house is elevated and has a nice view of the mountain and out to sea. It made a good base for us, being a easy and short route into town. Highly recommended.

What a beautiful place to stay! Brad and Fujiko are the perfect hosts. My partner and I came up from Wellington for a few nights and couldn't have hoped for a better place to stay. Affordable, comfy and delicious food from the 'Masterchef'! Can't recommend 16 Havelock enough, we even got a mini packed lunch for our long bus journey home, thanks Brad and Fujiko for everything! Five stars!

This is the second time me and my husband went to New Plymouth and this time we have got a mission----to find our new home to settle in this beautiful city. We are lucky! Because we found this B&B place while we were busy with this mission and this is absulotely sweet home! Located 5 mins drive from the city and hidden in a quiet street, Brad and Fujiko and their cats gave us a big warm welcomed in a wet weekend in NP. They have a big lounge with a big cozy couch and Fujiko put a piece of warm sheep fur on it and electric blanket underneath it! That is just FABULOUS!
We got up so early that day to drive from Auckland to NP, so by the time we got there and finished looking for houses, we were all exhausted. When we got to their place, Fujiko already prepared hot coffee, tea and some snacks for us. I still rememberd the first thing Brad said to us is "Welcome home". Such a small but warm thing to hear after a long day!
This was such a nice experience to stay in their cozy home. I would recommend all of my friends who want to come to NP to stay with them!

I had the pleasure to stay at Brad and Fujiko's fantastic B&B, 16 Havelock for 8 nights in October 2013. You can not help but feel at home, relaxed and comfortable from the moment you walk in the door. There is only one rule : Make yourself at home.
The weather was not the best during my stay, so Brad light up the fire a few nights, making a already perfect home even more comfy.
The whole house is spotless, tastefully decorated with a beautiful garden overlooking sea and mountain. I had the single room, which was comfortable and had everything one could want.
Each morning I was greeted by Brad who would organize breakfast, cooked or continental and always with home made bread and eggs from the chickens next door.
Fujiko is a wonderful cook, I accompanied her to the fresh fish shop and she prepared a wonderful sashimi that day. I got loads of cooking tips and ideas.
As I was new in town and looking for a house to rent in town, Brad and Fujiko's help and advice proved invaluable, nothing was to much trouble - My first two new friends in New Plymouth.
I highly recommend staying with Brad and Fujiko in their wonderful and comfortable home,
they are simply, the perfect hosts.

We stayed there a night on the way back to Wellington and we're really glad we did! Brad and Fujiko were excellent hosts, providing us with lots of ideas on places to go while in New Plymouth (we ended up seeing the Festival of Lights, which was great), and for a small sum, Fujiko cooked us a deliciously authentic Japanese meal. To cap things off, we were treated to the most spectacular sunset I've ever seen (no exaggeration) from their backyard. I even jumped the back fence and ran up the grassy hill, which gives you near panoramic views of the city and the majestic Mt. Taranaki (if it's not too cloudy).
