We came to Okurukuru Chalets for a 3 day stay. From the reviews we read it was going to be the icing on the cake of our trip around the lower Nth Island. We had stayed in several B&B along the way (much cheaper) and we have to say the breakfast foods supplied were far better than here On arrival at our luxury chalet we had blowflies from the cow paddock below buzzing around. The view looked very nice with the ocean and the large open space, Until we observed there was no key or instructions on the table as emailed to us to find on arrival. I tried ringing Rae the manager, but the internet connection was too poor. So we had to go up to the reception area to sort things out. We also couldn't use the ice box in the small fridge, as the ice box was FULL of ice. Rae solved this problem by dragging over the other fridge from #2. Problem was it didnt have a freezer box door! She then unscrewed the one off from the fridge she had just taken out to replace it. Rae also supplied with us with fliespray and a clothes airer, as no laundry at the chalet. First time on trip we'd had no netflicks or Sky (on our old TV set) the sofa was very uncomfotable. One of the beds was dipping in the middle The only thing that saved grace was the great dble shower and the fabulous Bistro above us
This place was not worth the $321 a night.

My wife and I had booked a celebratory dinner at The Vineyard Bistro @ Okurukuru so I decided to take the evening to the next level with a stay at The Chalets at Okurukuru.
The chalet was beautifully presented, warm, comfortable and relaxing with the most incredible view.
The complimentary continental breakfast and bottle of Okurukuru wine were a super touch.
We had an issue with the hot water in the Chalet but on contacting the manager it situation was taken care of even at 9:30 on a chilly Saturday night.
Absolutely superb location, and service. Will absolutely be back again.

This charming and serene two-story chalet boasts sea views from both balconies. On this occasion, we chose a two-bedroom chalet for additional space, which fulfilled all our expectations. A complimentary bottle of wine awaited us on the table upon arrival. The chalet was immaculate, featuring two couches for lounging. Communication was outstanding both prior to and upon arrival.

Great view and clean well appointed accommodation. Close to New Plymouth. Great restaurant with good food, service and views. Two story with large bedroom and double shower. Feels spacious and modern. Views of the coast are great, with a drink on the balcony at sunset.

Beautiful view and a stunning landscape. Rolling hills with grapevines, this is a modern chalet with old school charm and an untouched view of the Taranaki coast. It simply doesn’t get much better than this!

Well I thought when I got here this place was outstanding but then things went wrong and we were ignored.
The 2nd night we were here it rained a lot and the chalets are two floors with the bedroom downstairs, during the night in the downstairs ceiling there were mice or rats running around all night.... when we called to Rae to mention this she came down and told us the sofa upstairs can fold down to a double bed and if we wanted a good nights sleep maybe we should sleep there... we paid 200 bucks a night NOT to sleep on a sofa bed.!!!!
Then on the last afternoon a Camper van came and parked right outside our Chalet looking directly into our room.
We called and messaged Rae many times got one message back to say no they are not outside our room they are somewhere else... they had a screaming baby ... if we wanted to sleep next to a camper van we would have paid 50 bucks a night in a caravan park...funny how when we needed help for the previous two days Rae was easily contactable but today we were just ignored.
So despite this being a nice location on the surface they have lost us and anyone we know as we feel the whole situation was handled very badly.

Booked to stay at the chalets on a Sunday for the following Saturday and received a confirmation email the same day. I then booked a table for 2 at the restaurant. On the Wednesday we then received an email saying they had booked us for the restaurant and then a short time later received another email to say they had double booked and could no longer accommodate us. Once I spoke to them on the phone the man I spoke to was apologetic and admitted that the website BookIt had double booked us as it sometimes takes awhile to update and that our confirmation went to their junk folder hence the late reply. I understood and left it at that but confirmed that we still wanted to book dinner. We arrived on the Saturday for our dinner to no booking, even though I had just confirmed (again!) 3 days prior. Luckily, the helpful waitress found us a table upstairs and the food was delicious. I suggest to everyone to double check when booking with Okurukuru winery especially when booking online.

My wife and I stayed two nights at the Chalets early March, 6th and 7th. 2014. After reading reviews of previous guests we decided to stay. Well we arrived at 2:30 on the Thursday to find our room had only been refreshed a quarter with filthy toilet bowl in lower level and rubbish on the floor under the stairs.
We called up to have the Chalet cleaned which is what happened, took a good hour. The windows were so dirty, we had quite a distracted view.
Breakfast that was to be supplied consisted of four small boxes of cornflakes, we did ask for low fat milk when booking which was supplied. but nothing else. I had to call up on the next morning for more cornflakes. Were I was under the impression we supposed to get a cooking type of breakfast supplied?
The TV did not work and it took some time for staff to get it up and running... forget about the internet, staff could not get it to work at all.
We were very disappointed with our stay, but the view and the restaurant helped as both were splendid.

Really enjoyed our stay at The Chalet - arrived on a beautiful sunny afternoon, to see snow capped Mt Taranki glistening in the sun and a wedding reception in full swing at the restaurant.
The Chalets are in a quiet location with stunning views towards the coast, The chalet was, spacious, comfortable, well designed, with quality fixtures and fittings and a double shower to die for ! Breakfast provisions were delivered, and were suitably of a high standard and generous servings - but no freshly ground coffee.
We ate at the restaurant that night and the meal was nice - not outstanding - but the views and the setting sun was stunning !
