The motel is in a really good location, close to main streets and short walking distance to the lake, Government Gardens and the main shopping area. The rooms were clean and nicely decorated, with the bonus of thermal heat. A nice quiet room and the supplied coffee was fab! The staff were really friendly too! Worth noting too - the car park was easy to get in and out of!

Waiheke Island, New Zealand100 contributions50 helpful votes
We live in paradise on Waiheke Island and this property was recommended as 'the only place to stay in Rotorua' by our well travelled friends on the island. Communication was excellent with a comprehensive email and a text 11am to say our room was ready. We received a warm welcome from Ellen on arrival that made us feel like we were staying with family. Highlights: * warm welcome by the most hospitable team with local knowledge to make the most use of our holiday * central location, walking distance to everything * well furnished room with kitchenette and great wifi (cable with movies & sport channels) * 36C outdoor heated pool, year round * loved private use of the therapeutic mineral pools * sustainability for the environment (Forest & Bird toiletries and recycling) * BBQ available for self-catering We have stayed previously at one of the chain hotels but prefer the warm hospitality at Aura. Thank you!

I last stayed here 4 years ago. Was great then. Even better now. I was in town for business, but woke up feeling like I was on holiday and went for a walk down on the lakefront. Recommend this place for its can't be beaten location and the perfect facilities.

This wonderful place never fails to please! Super handy to town with a place to store the bikes after a fun day mountain biking. And the pool is the perfect temp for the early morning swim and the kids favourite night swimming. Staff are amazingly welcoming and are part of the charm of why we keep coming back again and again. Sad to leave but sure to be back soon

Kia ora, Thanks for your kind words! We love this, 'home away from home' feeling you talk about, what a great experience to have. Always great to hear that our bike shed is useful and that the pool gets good use after a day on the trails, such a treat with the night swimming too, a fun way to burn off any extra energy before bed. Appreciate your lovely comments on our staff! We are proud of our friendly and fun team, great to hear that they are a big part of your stay also! See you again next time, Ellen @ Aura

We stayed two nights in a one bedroom apartment which was comfortable and clean, with a great bed and lovely linen, a kitchenette with a kettle, fridge, stove top, tea, coffee and milk. We were upgraded on arrival from our studio booking and really appreciated the kind gesture and extra space. The property has a lovely heated swimming pool and two private hot pools which were absolutely heaven after a hard day's activities. The pools have their own clean towels so you don't have to use your bathroom towels. The staff and communication was excellent and each one of them always smiling and making you feel welcome. The accommodation was quiet and located a 5 minutes walk to the beautiful lac front and parc or to the bars and restaurants in the opposite direction. A must place to stay. We'll be back :)
