Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

We were allocated an absolutely horrendous room for a two night stay for a couple celebrating our Ruby wedding anniversary in Rotorua. The only good thing about this tiny and dirty room was it’s location next to Eats Street with a wide range of restaurants where we ate both nights. I would highly recommend you do not stay at this hotel. There are lots of other places to stay in Rotorua. The view out of the window is shown in the photos below. There wasn’t enough room to get into both sides of the bed. The furniture was dirty and stained as well as highly uncomfortable.

Kia Ora Chris, I am pleased you enjoyed our location to Eat Streat. Congratulations on your Ruby Wedding Anniversary. Our Cutie rooms are compact but do still have all of the amenities of our other rooms. These are ideal for those on a budget. Thank you for bringing to my attention the condition of the furniture as this has now been rectified. We have a designer frosting on the windows of the small number of rooms which don't have views to retain the Boutique feel of the Hotel. Regards, Mike Hotel Manager

We were celebrating a significant birthday and chose the Gourmet package, featuring a 5 course degustation dinner with matched wines. This certainly lived up to its gourmet name & exceeded our expectations! The courses were varied & showcased interesting NZ produce. Presentation & service was exceptional. One of our best dining experiences - the staff were unobtrusive unlike some restaurants where one is constantly asked if the meal is ok - they know it is so don’t disturb your enjoyment! We would definitely recommend Regent if Rotorua for a truly unique gourmet experience which is also great value for money.

We were stuck into a room with a fake window. It was like a dungeon. We asked for a different room but this hotel catered to the bus groups and gave them the better rooms. We had a very uncomfortable stay besides the fact that it did not stop raining, but not the hotel's fault. Also there mineral bath or hot water tub was a joke. Musty, cramped and small.

Kia Ora Joel, We are looking forward to the completion of our 12 new Superior rooms. All of our current rooms have opening windows. The few rooms that do not have views we have covered them with a designer frosting to retain the Boutique feel of the Hotel. Your room was a Superior which has plenty of space to relax and unwind. We are also pleased with the completion of a new Mural in the Mineral Pool which creates a unique vibe as you soak away your busy day. Regards, Mike Hotel Manager

Great location, excellent breakfast, clean rooms and a nice natural spring hot pool to soak in. Close to everything! the staff was extremely friendly and helpful. "Eat Street" is a 2 minute walk with several restaurants. On site parking and an easy walk to town.

July 2023 - Two night stay. Very pleasantly surprised! Very nice small hotel in Rotorua near Eat Street. Property is under construction but was not an issue during our stay. New wing took out most of parking lot - property was very good at providing parking instruction for nearby streets. Since it was off season and the weekend, parking was not a problem for us, ymmv. Entry and reception share a space with the dining room and is a bit crowded. Our room was a deluxe pool view room and was really a nice surprise. Seemed larger than its stated size, had a fridge and coffee/tea plus kettle, very comfortable king bed and spacious bathroom, a cocktail table and chairs, everything clean and orderly. Decor was a very nice touch. Walkable to the town park and plenty of restaurants, plus easy access to drive to local attractions. We did not dine at the property as our package did not include breakfast. The thermal soaking room was nice. Enjoyable stay while touring NZ.

Except for a helpful gentleman at the reception, the rest of staff seemed cold and lacked interpersonal skills. Breakfast was very limited, and at 8.30am the dishes were being taken away and not replaced. The room was functional, the bed was soft and comfy. The hotel is close to Eat Street which offers an array of dining options. Our experience did not reflect those of the many five star reviews.

wonderful stay, extremely helpful staff, and central location. heated pools were fantastic, esp the hot spring-fed pool at 37 deg! Staff are outstanding. i left one of my bags behind when we checked out. the staff called me within about 30 minutes, and i was able to return and collect - absolutely saved my trip - it had my passport!! Highly recommend. thank you

Awesome staff at reception, very tidy and new hotel. Great room, set out well with high quality fittings. Spacious and clean. Bathroom tidy and large. Added bonus of breakfast included in room price, both continental and cooked breakfast included with bottomless coffee. Centrally located and close to Eat Street if looking for drinks and dinner out.

This was the second time we had stayed . First time was great room bright and clean. That was the reason we returned. Mistake … after recommending to a friend we go again, disappointing was an understatement . Booked a 2 bedroom executive suite but that was not what we got. We were pointed to the other side of the carpark. The room was dark and dingy furniture past it’s best by and the high window gave a view of the exhaust pipes of the car backed up to it. But worst was the dust and mould. Before discovering the dust and mould we called reception but were told no other rooms were available. When going to bed we closed the Venetian blinds to find they were thick with dust and moguls as were the curtains the dust in the room was so bad I had to prop the sheet up over my face and use my inhaler to breath. Therefore not a great sleep. We left early not even staying for breakfast. I spoke to the manager he apologised and let us off the $9 we had used on the room bar. This was booked on hotels.com and including the tax we paid direct to the hotel the cost for the night NZ $500
