Staff here are lovely. Basics are all there and the thermal experience very therapeutic. Access to lakefront beyond convenient. Close to information centre. Very child friendly and relaxed. Almost an old fashioned time machine to the tune of comforts of childhood without the burdens of sophistication. Loved it.
Great location; it's in a quiet corner of the city with plenty of parking outside but within walking distance to Government Gardens and a whole bunch of restaurants and shops. Room, furnishing and facilities were clean and tidy, even if they aren't the most modern; the room prices were good value for money though, so I have no complaints. We didn't have a chance to try the communal spa pool but there was one right outside our room to use if we did. Would be more than happy to stay here again - recommended!
After checking out of a filthy Rotorua hotel we were extremely fortunate to find that there was a room available here for our family of five. The owners are very friendly, welcoming and helpful. The motel is dated but very well maintained and very clean. The cost to stay is extremely well priced compared to the majority of Rotorua accommodation. The common areas and pool area are also well maintained and clean. We had an upstairs view which had a view of the lake. The lake, shops, Eat Street and Government Gardens are all within walking distance which was a bonus. Most importantly this is not WINZ accommodation. We would definitely stay here again.
This place was booked the day before we arrived for our extended family of 6. We were not disappointed, from the lovely reminder phone call by the owner to our checkout experience. It was a lovely and clean separate "house" in a quiet street with a large main room and plenty of free street parking. The two bedrooms were large and comfy with 2 separate comfortable single beds in the open plan lounge/dining room. Wifi access was good. The bathroom was quite spacious although I was a bit surprised that it opened up to the kitchen directly! Because we only stayed one night and left the next morning, we did not really make full use of the facilities. Very convenient to walk to local eateries and the Government Gardens. Would definitely recommend this to future travellers with large families.…
A great place to stay. Motel is adjacent to Government Gardens so an excellent location for any events in that area. Also handy to the main shoppibg area and restaurants. Unit was clean and tidy and a good size. Shower was one if the best for pressure i have experienced in a motel. Complex has a thermal pool and spa pool. Unit was wzrm and comfortable. Staff were excellent and very accommodating. We have already booked for our next event in Rotorua. Thanks for all your help
I think we booked the last available room in Rotorua (that was not going to cost an arm and a leg) on the school holiday weekend and we were delighted with the complex. Friendly check in, spotlessly clean unit, well appointed little kitchen, and family friendly. A super find. So central to downtown also. Park and walk.
Walking distance to Eat Street and the downtown area, a few minutes walk to the lake and to the Government Gardens. The Ambassador Thermal Motel is an older motel, but it is very comfortable and clean. The owners are friendly and ready to help if needed. the other staff were also very friendly. The thermal pool is great after a day out. It is small, and in a little pool room with very little apart from a place to put your towel -which is provided by the way. But it is hot and very relaxing. The spa pool is set in a small area with some plantings and a ponga fence which enhances it. When the thermal pool was busy, this was a nice alternative. the motel room is well appointed and you can cook there-everything you need. The bed is comfy. There is an outside pool for summer. Parking on site.…
We stayed 2 nights here in Rotorua. Pros: -lots of parking (Free) -easy checkin -large room including kitchen -paid laundry facilities -walking distance to town Cons: -very hot in rooms even with fans on -bathroom is basic and could use some TLC
We had the family unit (2 bedroom) and was adequate for size 1 adult with 3 children in one room, couple in the other, and another adult slept in living room. No mirrors in bedrooms. No sharp knives at all in kitchen. A veggie/paring knife, serrated blade knife should be standard in the unit. We couldn't cut tomatoes or avocado. Spa pool was almost outside our unit and noise from people using it was so annoying. Sunday morning 7.30am and a family was making huge noise squealing and talking loud in the spa - we could not sleep. Our unit seemed to be on the main walkway where every guest walked past - again ever so noisy. No sound-proofing so we heard everything. Kids running up and down the stairs to the units above us - ever so noisy. On a positive, very close to town to all the eateries. Was clean enough and manageress was most pleasant. Bedrooms spacious with spacious area for luggage etc. We used the outside hot pool.…
We have just stayed the night. It was not planned as we were heading to Taupo for an early appointment so got as far as Rotorua. Dug around for a clean and comfortable yet central place to stay. This place we were lucky to find. Meticulously clean, can cook in if you want or walk just 3 minutes to a wide variety of eating places. It is older, does offer pools which we did not use. We were downstairs and I thought might be noisy but certainly was not. I would recommend this if yu are looking for something ie we were
