Staff were lovely and friendly, Arun the chef was very sweet and catered for our vegan diets. Hot tub, kayaks and access to lake were a bonus! Close to town and restaurants, only a 7 or so minute drive.
Highly recommend this stunning lodge. The view is impressive, the staff super friendly and helpful. Breakfast was included and they made it to order. The spa and sauna free, situated perfectly on the jetty overlooking the lake. Lodge room had heatpump, bed was comfy
I was lucky enough to have the apartment at this property all to myself and what a space it was. The views across Lake Rotorua were stunning. The hosts were helpful in giving me some ideas about what to do/see and where to eat whilst in the area. The complimentary limoncello each evening was a nice touch but it would have been even nicer if the hosts had taken this time to engage with their guests instead of leaving people to help themselves. I suspect that’s why my fellow guests chose not to participate. If I were to improve anything it would be to have a valuables safe in the room and USB portals for charging devices. I will definitely try to visit this property again as 2 nights didn’t really do it justice.
This was the first lodge we stayed in in NZ and unfortunately we were very disappointed . We did not feel that we received a warm welcome, the lodge reception was closed when we arrived and we had to call for someone to come, there was no offer of a drink or to help us with our luggage. Our room was adequate but quite old fashioned and there was no privacy on our deck. We also did not like the shared kitchenette. Breakfast was lovely. The view out over the lake is very nice but I feel the owners need to offer their guests a better experience, sadly this lodge did not live up to our expectations.
This is a lovely B & B situated right on Lake Rotorua. We had Room 4 ( which is on the right of the picture) and I would recommend it to anyone. It is large and has superb bathroom complete with personal jacuzzi. Our hosts and staff could not have been more helpful and for those like us, who were travelling around New Zealand we were able to put some laundry in which was done in-house and returned expertly ironed by the evening. We wish we could have stayed longer!!
I can’t say enough wonderful things about the Koura Lodge. We stayed there (room 4) for just 2 nights. The room is huge, the bathroom has a shower stall, a huge jacuzzi and a heated towel rack. The bed is very comfortable (pillows are comfortable but the big square one is a bit odd in its shape). The sliders to the deck overlooking the lawn and beautiful lake add a wonderful serenity. Then there’s the delicious breakfast buffet and cooked to order food that is prepared right within view as you sit with the other guests in the main dining and lounging room. Homemade muffins, yogurts, fruits, pressed coffee, grainy bread, homemade jams. And that’s not everything, by far. Just terrific. Finally, the staff that runs this place is so nice, accommodating and helpful in any way that they can. We had some issues with our flight arrangements and the sweet manager, Becky, spent nearly a half hour helping us get things sorted out. The only negative things I can say about this place are that it is about a $13 Uber drive to Eat Street for dinner, and the very, very steep driveway is somewhat challenging to find, especially at night. So, run, don’t walk, to the Koura Lodge when you are planning a stay in Rotorua.…
Beautiful location overlooking lake. Charming helpful hosts Mike and Becky. Nice breakfast. Kayaks, hot tub and nice spot from which to swim. Very relaxing. Had a lovely meal at Lime cafe on Fenton road. Highly recommend the Redwood Forest tree walk at sunset - spectacular.
1. Lake view is outstanding and nice quiet place to unwind. 2. Convenient location - about 5 minutes from downtown- close to convenience stores, takeaway - food delivery available as well. 3. Nice waterfront with hot tub, chairs on the lawn and kayaks. 4. Although breakfast is a little early - 7-9 am, it's worth getting up for. 5. The manager of the property is very knowledgeable about the area--her recommendations were spot on. 6. Laundry service is great. The staff was very careful with our clothes. 7. Wish we would have had a safe.
We stayed over Xmas and it was so comfortable. The breakfast is full service. Cooked to order. The accommodations are so easy and eco friendly and comfortable. The view is peaceful and relaxing from right outside our door even able to take a kayak out on a quiet morning on the lake
We enjoyed Rotorua much more than we thought we would – Waimangu Volcanic Valley was fantastic and relatively quiet – give yourself four or five hours to experience it, but some of the other tourist destinations are (by New Zealand standards) … erm, a bit touristy. Koura Lodge elevated our experience of Rotorua to make it one of the highlights of a fantastic few weeks in New Zealand. We had a Lakeside Lodge Suite – the room itself wasn’t anything out of the ordinary: Functional and perfectly adequate, but the location is wonderful and the staff very helpful (their advice on where – and when - to visit was invaluable). By the time we reached the Lodge we were pretty much “restauranted out” – four weeks of dining out every night takes its toll. Koura was the perfect antidote. After a day sightseeing, we returned to our room and sat on “our” porch overlooking the lake and relaxed with a bottle of wine – Koura Lodge’s wine choice is amazingly good value – and a supermarket picnic. We walked down to the jetty in front of our room and watched the birdlife, we took the complimentary canoes out on the lake and we watched the sunset from the hot tub … magical!…
